  1. Well, how to say...I hope nobody takes offense.

It seems that there are a lot of people that are immigrants themselves and are now "getting more people from their own country" to the US.

A lot of people that marry people from the country they emmigrated from.

A lot of Us-citizen-comments are in terribly English and seem to be more "immigrant" then "UScitizen".

I personally have my difficulties with it, how about you guys?

(Again: I do not want to insult anybody.)

  2. You are the client. Like me I have an attorney but it was prior to me finding this site. When my case is at NVC I will take control and advise my attorney of what I am doing. If he doesnt like it he can get lost. Remember you pay him. Run the case through NVC yourself keep your attorney in the loop and if you have a problem he is there. Whats your thoughts.

That is what I would just LOVE.

But: we are not so sure he would still be willing to help us out if we don't let him do this now (attorneys...).

And if we run into problems later (denied change of status, denied F1 and age-difference...) on we would have to start this all over with a differnt att. and pay again.

What are you going to tell your attorney (reason) for not having him do that? I mean it is like questioning their abilities and that's sorta rude....

  3. Boah, my husband and I have been arguing about this whole our-attorney-is-a-loser-but-what-if-we-need-an-attorney-issue since December and I feel like (once again) we are at a point where we can make a choice...

Face to face ? Next problem: Noa2 a week ago and my husband will be here in G with me the next 1,5 weeks...my husband got in a car accident and could not attend the meeting he would have had yesterday.

Oh well, time to sit down and make a choice and call/email him...

If it wasn't for the time factor we would keep him for sure.

  4. Hey...

there are like a million different co-sponsor threads here but: for some reason, they all offer differnt advise:

you need pay stubs / you do not need pay stubs/ the petitoner has to send in his birth-certificate/ only the co-sponsor has to turn in his birthcertificate.

So, my question is: does somebody have a list, that is accurate and up-to-date?

    Thanks...

  5. I think of that one couple who sent in picture of them having sex to prove their marriage. -shudders-

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Alright, one last question: do you guys think we should just send in my husbands affidavit (more than 125% but IRS backtax - no settelment so far) or should we also send in a co-sponsor right away?

    ..talking about over-doing it

  6. Wow, that is a lot of information and a little difficult for me to understand since I am not into all of this business stuff at all.

    It is a Sole-proprietorship.

Which (if understood right), can be claimed as an asset, right?

Does anybody know how long it takes to figure out the value of a business?

My husband makes enough money to sponsor me, but due to backtaxes we thought we would put the business on the I864 and have a co-sponsor just to be on the safe side?

Or is that over-doing it?

    Thanks!

  7. Business is not asset, it is an entity.

Business will have asset and liability aiong with income and expenses. At the end of the year, net income/loss will be transferred to profit and loss account. This account's money (full or part) can be distributed as dividend to the shareholders or to the owner. Some can be re-invested to the business expansion. Ultimately, business will have a balance sheet where it derives the net asset.

If you or your spouse is the owner of this business and under the sole propreitorship, you can prove it as your asset.

    Loto

BTW - I am neither an accountant nor a legal expert.

I am a Senior Software Architect and doing independent consultancy to the clients.

    Thanks Loto...

One more asset to put on our i864

Mh, I wonder if our tax-attorney can help us figure out the value of our business? Any ideas?

  8. I just called that number and waited on hold for about 20 minutes or so, only to find my case is not there yet. so tomorrow I will try again.

and the day after and after and after....... they are gonna get sick of hearing from me, so they will just approve me......lol........ ok, maybe that will backfire....

My phone hangs up when I try calling
