Whats up with kitty's post???
lol
You can edit a post if u see it (click edit) like within 5 mins or so
Mh, it has been more than 5 minutes...
Hey, how's that for an excuse for my "wonderful English": I am the immigrant, not the USC.
[And I guess my concentration level = 0 due to my Multiple Sclerosis]
-
A lot of Us-citizen-comments are in terribly English and seem to be more "immigrant" then "UScitizen".
Do you not mean terrible English...geesh
Now that's embarrassing...Should have read it before I posted it.
Is there a way to edit a post?
-
OH - I have problems with English, still, and I'm a native-born, US Citizen.
Are you following me - as much as we have been writing tonight?
Well, I am talking more about the english that has no structure, no grammar, no tenses and is hard to understand
-
Well, how to say...I hope nobody takes offense.
It seems that there are a lot of people that are immigrants themselves and are now "getting more people from their own country" to the US.
A lot of people that marry people from the country they emmigrated from.
A lot of Us-citizen-comments are in terribly English and seem to be more "immigrant" then "UScitizen".
I personally have my difficulties with it, how about you guys?
(Again: I do not want to insult anybody.)

You are the client. Like me I have an attorney but it was prior to me finding this site. When my case is at NVC I will take control and advise my attorney of what I am doing. If he doesnt like it he can get lost. Remember you pay him. Run the case through NVC yourself keep your attorney in the loop and if you have a problem he is there. Whats your thoughts.
That is what I would just LOVE.
But: we are not so sure he would still be willing to help us out if we don't let him do this now (attorneys...).
And if we run into problems later (denied change of status, denied F1 and age-difference...) on we would have to start this all over with a differnt att. and pay again.
What are you going to tell your attorney (reason) for not having him do that? I mean it is like questioning their abilities and that's sorta rude....
-
Boah, my husband and I have been arguing about this whole our-attorney-is-a-loser-but-what-if-we-need-an-attorney-issue since December and I feel like (once again) we are at a point where we can make a choice...
Face to face ? Next problem: Noa2 a week ago and my husband will be here in G with me the next 1,5 weeks...my husband got in a car accident and could not attend the meeting he would have had yesterday.
Oh well, time to sit down and make a choice and call/email him...
If it wasn't for the time factor we would keep him for sure.
-
This may be useful for ya -

IMO, specifically for this, it all depends on just 'how trainable' yer attorney really is.
If you want speed, and the attorney is trainable, then by all means keep the attorney.
how trainable? if it was only that easy.
-
Some people might not be able to afford going through this with an attorney by their side.
So what are the choices? Fire him now after all the $$$$ and time and then have to start all over if something does come up later on? Or give him a chance to get us through the NVC?
That is why I am asking for experiences.
-
did you flesh out the 'some reason' domain, yet?
I asked for experiences, Darnell. Have you made any?
-
Hey,
we are using an attorney but for some reason some poeple here make it sound like it will take forever to get through the NVC using an attorney.
So, I guess I am wondering if anybody here has used a lawyer and how long did it take you from start to case complete?
-
We left that part blank when we were typing it then hand wrote N/A where it was necessary
Good luck
Thanks
-
hey...filling out the ds230 and # 23 and # 28 wont accept N/A.
Can we put 0000? Any ideas`?

Hey...
there are like a million different co-sponsor threads here but: for some reason, they all offer differnt advise:
you need pay stubs / you do not need pay stubs/ the petitoner has to send in his birth-certificate/ only the co-sponsor has to turn in his birthcertificate.
So, my question is: does somebody have a list, that is accurate and up-to-date?
Thanks...
-
I have the same question. So, letter of employment and pay stubs are not required?
I did not know the main sponsor needs to sumit his/her birth-certificate, I thought only the Co-Sponsor?
-
I think of that one couple who sent in picture of them having sex to prove their marriage. -shudders-
Alright, one last question: do you guys think we should just send in my husbands affidavit (more than 125% but IRS backtax - no settelment so far) or should we also send in a co-sponsor right away?
..talking about over-doing it
-
Wow, that is a lot of information and a little difficult for me to understand since I am not into all of this business stuff at all.
It is a Sole-proprietorship.
Which (if understood right), can be claimed as an asset, right?
Does anybody know how long it takes to figure out the value of a business?
My husband makes enough money to sponsor me, but due to backtaxes we thought we would put the business on the I864 and have a co-sponsor just to be on the safe side?
Or is that over-doing it?
Thanks!

Business is not asset, it is an entity.
Business will have asset and liability aiong with income and expenses. At the end of the year, net income/loss will be transferred to profit and loss account. This account's money (full or part) can be distributed as dividend to the shareholders or to the owner. Some can be re-invested to the business expansion. Ultimately, business will have a balance sheet where it derives the net asset.
If you or your spouse is the owner of this business and under the sole propreitorship, you can prove it as your asset.

BTW - I am neither an accountant nor a legal expert.
I am a Senior Software Architect and doing independent consultancy to the clients.
Thanks Loto...
One more asset to put on our i864
Mh, I wonder if our tax-attorney can help us figure out the value of our business? Any ideas?
-
It is me again
Is a business considered an asset? If so: does anybody know how to figure out how much a business is worth?
-
I just called that number and waited on hold for about 20 minutes or so, only to find my case is not there yet. so tomorrow I will try again.
and the day after and after and after....... they are gonna get sick of hearing from me, so they will just approve me......lol........ ok, maybe that will backfire....
My phone hangs up when I try calling
-
Heyo,
to find out my case number I call 603-334-0700, right?
That # does not work!
-
Thank you.
What/Who os DOJ?
-
Is a Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data
neccessary and could somebody give me a link to a example-form?
Thanks

Main sponsor's debt is not considered in this matter.
They only want to see the ability of the co-sponsor to support the intending immigrant (plus co-sponsor's household members).
Thanks alot for your answer!
-
Hey !
Does the Co-Sponsor just have to come up with the 125% or does he/she also have to "cover" the main sponsor's debt?
What do you guys think.....?

Just an observation.
And: I was talking about the US-Citizen's English, not the immigrant's. No need to get insulting.
