  1. Hello!!! I am getting ready to apply for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a US citizen. As I was going over the required documents, I got confused with an item on "If you were married before, send: Proof that all marriages ended (divorce decree(s), annulment(s), or death certificate(s). Is this referring to marriages after having granted permanent residence? I had an annulment of my previous marriage in my own country and that was prior to meeting my US citizen husband. My husband & I submitted my annulment papers & his divorce papers to USCIS & US Embassy as one of the requirements in securing my K1 visa and adjusting my status to permanent resident. I got my permanent resident card (valid for 10 years) last October 2011. Do I need to submit those documents again for my application for naturalization? Sorry I am new here and my first time to inquire. Thanks for your help!!!

Yes, you need to submit the required documents. It is a different process.

    Good luck

  2. Hi

I am about to apply to, I have a question about the biometrics, I thought if I did mine within the 15 months I don't need a new one. My concern is i'll be traveling after 2 weeks and i'll be away for 40 days! I was worried that I would get a biometric appointment? when do they usually send the bio appointment after sending the application?

    Thank you

  3. Dose that mean your really need to get permission from Saudi Arabia first before marrying even tho you don't have it when going through the CR-1? Even tho I understand you can't live or go to Saudi Arabia together without there permission or you'll get such a huge fine.

Me and my husband (Saudi) thought it be best if inshallah when we get through the CR-1, AOS, then Citizenship inshallah. We would go up to Saudi Arabia together to actually meet his family finally as US citizens through the Saudi family visa or when we do Hajj. Since I won't be able go there nor can his family go out and see us because his family is so big. Everyone takes care of each other of getting around and doing errands or take them to school. Nor do they have the income to leave work that their trying to support there families up there.

I just don't want to get into trouble for not getting the permission when doing the CR-1 visa process, which is such a long process and a stupid one to make it hard to marry foreigner nor is it worth it because most of the time they just trash the documents. You must be rich and know such high people.

My husband is not even blood Saudi, but his grandfather is moved over to Saudi Arabia from Thailand when it was so easy back then to get citizenship from Saudi by knocking at your door. But not anymore. Sorry for going off topic. Just always worried about the permission thing. Nor do I see anyone on VJ who are Saudi talk about it who is going through immigration process and fearing it. Or how they deal with actually trying show pics of the families together and proof and such. When it's hard to go there or even in the US on a tour visa.

Of course it's easy to go to a third country, but not with families and can't with friends because for us we don't mix genders.

I cant speak for everyone or for the government. I think it would be up to you both and your future plans.

Does it affect the immigration process, I don't think so, it is something to do with the Saudi government not the US government. We did not go through the CR-1 visa, so I cant speak for that.

I know the permission is a headache and I can tell you it was a nightmare for us too. :bonk:

    best of luck

  4. Hi guys,

I have a question for you guys..i'll be a May 2012 filer so I was estimating times by looking at the forum...I just finished ROC..

when I apply in May it'll be 90 days before the date of my Temp GC issue date. From what I understood, we can apply for naturalization yet interview will be scheduled only after 3 years of the GC issue date (which is Aug in my case). is this right?

another question, can you change the interview date? I plan on traveling during the summer.

    Thank you

  5. Thanks so much for the reply. Did you actually travel to Asia as well? Yes..was thinking have to get there earlier in case they question about the expired GC etc. I hope everything goes smoothly. It will be a very long flight so I just wanted to make sure that there will be no more other stuff to deal with.

No problem, no it wasn't Asia..however I would still go early, I am sure you are not the first one who traveled with an expired GC.

    Have a safe trip

  6. Hi everyone!

1.We are going to fly to Asia this coming March. I heard the NOA letter will be suffice as substitute of GC which in process.

Is there anyone experience travel to Asia with the expired GC and NOA letter without any hassle?

Would the airline staff in Asia aware of this NOA? Or will it be any problem-if so then what should we do to avoid the hassle or delay at check-in point?

2.We heard nothing since last update that USCIS recieve our application and done BIO in Nov 2011- is it safe to fly in March considering RFE or Interview possibility. We filed at VSC in October.

Any input is much appreciated! Have a good Monday everyone!

    Hi

I travelled twice with my expired GC and NOA letter, no problem. Make sure to take your expired GC and the original NOA..be there earlier in case the staff questioned it. Some staff are new to it, but as soon as they speak with other staff and supervisors things go ok. In my experience, I had some questions, they made copies but things went ok. Delay was not more than 20 minutes till they figure it out.

    Good luck

  7. Do you know guys if its safe to travel with i551 stamp in my passport ? If my application will be deny while I m going to be outside of US ???

I traveled outside the US with the extension letter twice, no problem. Make sure to take your green card (even if its expired) and the original extension letter.

the second part of the question, I am not sure about. hopefully others can help you.

    Good luck

  8. What is a Greed card?

   I just noticed that!

PattyS_Husband, I would recommend you to check the other threads and see where other filers are too...it will make you feel better and that you're not alone, you'll notice that you're worrying over nothing! I am a May filer and no green card yet, frustrated? not really just waiting because i know its in its way and I have my extension letter. Relax and enjoy the weekend B-)

  9. I still have not heard anything! :(

Sent mine in at the very end of April.

I haven't called USCIS yet (not looking forward to hours on hold), you think it's worth a shot?

We called, the same answer everyone got, they are working on April!

You wont be on hold for hours though...very brief hold, if you have an extra 15-20 min call, some people got the good news when they called :)
