  1. I'm starting to get a little worried. We haven't heard anything about the AOS as far as the Green Card since March. I hope it didn't get lost somewhere. I'm tempted to call them and see if they have any different updates other than what the website says.

I wouldn't overly worry, but I would call.

Your case has been transferred for over a month and a half now... I would have expected it to go quicker than that.

  2. Congrats Anitta and Romancita!

I had my interview on Thursday the 12th. We showed up half an hour early but ended up waiting over an hour.

The interviewer was very nice. All she asked to see was our I.D. and my I-94. She then told us the affidavit of support had been approved and verified my info (date and place of birth, parents' names, our address, etc.), asked those silly questions again (any intention of participating in espionnage, overthrowing the governement, taking part in a genocide, any affilitation with the communist party, etc.) and that was it. Not one question regarding our relationship. The interview lasted under 10 minutes.

On Saturday I got the email that the card production had been ordered on the 12th. Overall, absolutely painless. :)

Congrats to all of you who are done, and good luck to those with an upcoming interview!

  3. I called USCIS. after seeing how so many other february filers got theirs approved and I had nothing, not even a receipt number for it, I called. Very frustrating!

    Good luck with your interview!

I don't understand how they can lose files altogether... :(

Just a couple weeks now until your interview though!

I finally got my AP and EAD approved today.

I think I understand why the status goes back and forth a couple of times after Post-Decision. Once it goes in the Card Production stage, "Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant". So I imagine once it is mailed, it goes back to the Post-Decision stage.

  4. Our AOS interview in Charlotte, NC

First, many, many thanks to the wonderful members of this forum without whom this tedious and sometimes nerve-racking process would have been so much more difficult!

WE GOT APPROVED TODAY!!!!!!!!! Our interview was a breeze. The IO officer was very nice and friendly. We were out in 15-20 minutes. But let's start with the beginning:

Our appointment was at 1.45 PM. We arrived at 1.15. At the entrance, we were asked to put all our stuff, including shoes, belts, keys, cell phones, in a plastic trey that went thorough the scanning machine. I had a bottle of water in my pocketbook and the security guard told me I needed to throw it or take it back to the car. He also asked to see our appointment letter and our IDs - we both showed him our driver licenses. After that, we were sent to a room where another man checked our appointment letter and gave us a nnumber. We were directed to another waiting room. We waited for half an hour and finally they called our number. The officer was very friendly. He asked for our IDs again, our interview letter, my passport and my I-94. That's it!!!!! nothing else!!!!! He probably got scared by the huge binder on my lap!!!!!! and the bag of copies my husband was carrying!!! He sworn us in and then he checked my husband's information - date and place of birth, his SSN, his phone number and his signature. The officer asked him how we met, my husband said "online", and again, that's it!!! No further questions about it, no more prompting for details, nada! Then it was my turn to get the personal information checked - the same as my husband, but he asked me to verify my parents' first names. Then, he said, "OK, let me approve you", and started clicking and typing. Finally, he explained the process of removal of conditions, printed me a paper with the whole explanation and the dates we need to apply for ROC, and we were out of there! Easy, breezy!!!!

Wow! Congratulations! It sounds like it was really painless :D Thanks for your review. I think I will use your strategy of going in with a huge folder... better bring too much than not enough anyway!

Enjoy your great news!! Must feel amazing to be done for close to 2 years!

  5. Hi,everyone.

I posted couple of question here, but got no attention. Please you guys can give me a hand in this question, I would be greatly appreaciated for that.

I received email saying that "On April 26, 2011, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for June 1, 2011, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Please follow the instructions on the notice."

I am confused about the location "national benefit center", Is the in MO state? Why is my case not transferred to my local office in boston? Do I have to go MO location, I am so worried, because I need to carry my baby as well. Many thanks to any replies!!!!

Don't worry. When you get the actual letter in the mail, it will say the exact address for your interview, and it will (should) be at the local office closest to you.

Mine said the same thing, and my interview is in Denver.

  6. hey kizza! your case has taken a little longer than mine but I didn't get a touch either from Feb until just the other day. I'm sure your case is gonna move forward very soon

    Thanks jandr!

It makes me feel better to see Im not the only still waiting for EAD and AP (just saw Lee b is waiting as well)! I did get my interview letter a couple of weeks ago... so there has been movement with that. I was just hoping to get AP in time to join in on a trip with some friends.

  7. Congratulations to everyone who has an interview date, approved EAD/AP and for those waiting, good luck!! .

I believe its Feb filers' turn to celebrate and today I got approved for the EAD, after its production is ordered. Hope I get it soon.

I have a job start date too, 18th April, and I will partly be working from home to spend time with my baiby. The good Lord is an awesome God!!!

    Good luck everyone!!!

    Cheers

Thank you and congratulations on your EAD and on your job!

  8. :( everyone is getting good news with EAD and stuff. I was excited that i have an interview earlier but now im concerned cause everyone else is getting the interview around the same time as me but they also got there other stuff approved already and i Havent? Does that mean there is something wrong and the interview isnt going to go so well?

Don't worry. Some of us haven't heard a thing at all. No EAD, no AP, no interview date.

  9. Looking at your timeline and the recent RFE, I think it's likely that you will get an answer soon.

Ive never had an info-pass, but If it were me, I would wait a little bit longer to see if they make a decision after they start working on the case again with the new evidence just sent. If nothing happened, then I would make an info-pass appointment. Just my opinion... Good luck and stay positive! I know waiting sucks (Ive done my share) but your timeline isn't outrageously long for AOS, especially with 2 RFEs (the RFEs for AOS stop the whole process, even for EAD and AP).

  10. Yes, same as Vero here... I had to have my birth certificate translated into English by a certified translator. They definitely wanted the translation at the interview and they kept it.

  11. hi kizza! i received 2 exact copies of it with my biometrics pic on the bottom of the page. :)

I dont plan on using it though coz I've overstayed and dont wanna take the risk of not being able to go back here. Im just glad to know that the case is moving.

I see that we almost have the same timeline so I'm guessing you'll get yours soon too.. good luck!

Good idea not to take a chance with leaving the country. Ive been refused entry before, so if I do travel with the AP, it will be with a lot of extra documentation too.

Thank you! I hope you are right and I will get mine soon!

  12. Hi Taatabunny,

I'm sorry, I don't have a definite answer about the service request, but my understanding is that they are giving themselves 30 days to go look into your case and figure out what the hold up is. I think in a lot of cases, the situation resolves itself within those 30 days. I hope you get your letter soon!

I thought I would give a quick review of my biometrics appointment last week. The ASC in Denver, Colorado, is a little hard to find. It's located in a strip mall; it looks really ghetto, with hardly any signage in the front of the office. Seeing the place answered my previous question: they are not processing any applications there. Solely taking fingerprints and photographs.

Ladies, don't forget to bring your marriage certificate if you don't have any I.D. with your new name on it.

I brought the AP NOA1 with me just in case, and they stamped it and said I would get an biometrics appointment letter for the I-131 and to ignore it. I think they might be wrong about this one, but it doesn't matter. I'm pretty convinced the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing in that organization!

  13. I just stumbled on this when I opened VJ today. I wonder if some of us will be getting the new "combo" card:

    Feb. 18th 2011

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced that it is now issuing employment and travel authorization on a single card for certain applicants filing an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Form I-485. This new card represents a significant improvement from the current practice of issuing paper Advance Parole documents.

The card looks similar to the current Employment Authorization Document (EAD) but will include text that reads, “Serves as I-512 Advance Parole.” A card with this text will serve as both an employment authorization and Advance Parole document. The new card is also more secure and more durable than the current paper Advance Parole document.

  14. The waiting for the aos process is 'trying' but it's much more bareable then the I-129 K1Visa!!! Positive vibes!!!!

So true. I'm anxious to be done with this process and free to work and travel, but being with our SO while we wait makes it so much easier than waiting for the K1!

Does anybody know where our files are processed? i.e. if our case isn't transferred to CSC, is it processed at our local office or does it remain at the National Benefits Center?
