  1. Hi Ronnie,

To answer one of your previous questions it can be a letter (in a certain format) written up and notarized and the officer should accept this. I looked on line to find a format for affivadits and had my family and friends all provide notarize letters for me and the officer took them and put them in our file as evidence. My evidence was somewhat like yours. We didnt have any utility bills , health , car or life insurance , major purchases , credit cards , not even the lease was in both of our names. My husband has a DL but our addresses didnt match cause I never updated my new address on mine so we couldnt use that. We did have joint bank accounts and I still had my maiden name on there. He gave us the list of stuff needed for evidence and we had only like 2 things on there. I thought we were gonna have problems because of lack of evvidence so we did alot of talking. I just like yourself didnt think bank accounts made that much of a difference cause a couple living fradulently could also acquire those. Our interview did last an hour where as I heard some people only last about 10-15 mins. Go ahead and get as many notarize letters as possible it cant hurt anything. I hope things get better for you.

WASHINGTON — Federal immigration officials are proposing to increase the fees to apply for legal U.S. residency to nearly $1,100, but would leave existing citizenship application fees intact.

The Citizenship and Immigration Services has scheduled a news conference later today to announce the fee increases. It now costs a total of $1,010 to apply for legal residency and get required fingerprinting, and that cost would rise to $1,085.

The agency is required by law to review its fees regularly and decide whether they are covering the cost of doing business.

The CIS had a major fee hike in the summer of 2007, helping to trigger a flood of citizenship applications that were filed in advance of the increases.

  3. We had our AOS interview in San Antonio, TX on yesterday which is about an hour from where we live. Our appt was at 12:30 and at that time we were being called into the office. We had a guy doing our interview he wasnt rude but was a straight to the point kind of person. It lasted an hour. He was asking me personal questions about my previous job which was really not directly related to the interview but he said he was just personally curious about my opionion about education and immigrants since I use to work for an educational company. I think he was just trying to build a rapport. But anyways he then had me and my husband discuss our lives indivially since we were born. The schools we went to , all education background , parents and siblings information just things like that. Then he went on to discuss how we met and just our relationship in detail. He looked at our pictures and some evidence we had. Which compared to reading other posts and the list he gave of the things he wanted to see we didnt have alot of phy evidence. No lease info together , no utility bills or credit cards in our names , no car or insurance together , our DL even had different addresses cause when I moved I never changed it to the new one. We did have affidavits which helped alot , bank statements , and job information . So with that being said I am sure it was just our confidence level , body language and just our general conversation with the officer that won him over. We talked about a lot of stuff I just imagine him as a friend someone I would have no problem talking to and went from there. I (US citizen) did more talking that my spouse. Officer was even telling us about some of his previous interviews and what went on with them . Well after everything was said and done he approved us which I knew he would cause he was a little to personal with us. He even told us some about his home life and all. We had also received an RFE before this for his medicals which I just resent them a copy of it and the actual immigration information sheet that stated he did not need to have another one done since it was done within the year. I had taken a copy his medicals to the interview as well but he never said anything about it. So now we just have to do the removal of conditions later on. GOOD LUCK to everyone else that has there coming .

  4. Having two sponsors is okay. Hawaii and Alaska poverty line is a little higher than the rest of the states. During the interview especially in Lagos make sure you are confident about everything you say to them and like other people have posted bring as much evidence as possible . even if you dont feel like it is that important bring it anyways especially if it relates to you both since you are already having a couple of things that could hinder you. Age they will ask you about. They will also question as to why it took so long for her to see you . Just make sure u are prepared for those questions. As far as her visiting you only once that was the same issue with me and my husband. He explained it well and it wasnt a big problem. He also had no pitcures with my family since none of them were able to come. But we had so many other pictures and evidence it was good enough. Needless to say my husband passed his and he is over here with me now.

Good luck on you interview !

  5. Our visa was denied, they just said that our marriage is for immigration purposes. Our file is now back in the state and is being reviewed, does anyone know how much long it would be before we hear some news again. Also we want to do everything to make this work. I visited nigeria last year and stayed for two weeks. I am planning another visit. Can you all tell me please how long do you stay when you go. I cannot stay very long because of my job and kids. What would be a reasonable amount of time to stay in nigeria with my baby. Please give my your advice.

As far as the issue of the file back in the states I will let someone with more expertise on that issue answer that question. But sorry to hear about that news . I only went to Nigeria once and stayed for 3 weeks and that was enough for us to be approved. Some people go more than that and still get denied. I am not sure how much you submitted but the amount of evidence does play a big part and how you present this evidence in the interview does play a big part.

  6. Hi lrr1998,

houston was really easy. no stress at all. althou i am not really sure why mine was so smooth cos i met some pple there who spent alot of time wit the custom and border pple at the airport. I just went in and in abt 10-15mins i was thru.

I think he shd be fine.

That was a quick process. Thanks for the reply

  7. I am also sorry to hear about that. My husband was also interviewed by a Chinese woman I wonder if that is the same one , he said she was tough and was denying alot of people. Although she passed him at that time but by the time he got home he had a phone call saying that he had to do another interview and that one didnt count. So dont give up . Keep the faith and you all shall overcome. Glory to GOD !

  8. Also just a quick note if you are paying in dollars. We still have some old bills (dollars) in circulation over here and it is not a big deal her . But the embassy in Lagos will not accept the old dollars. The only major difference is the president's heads are larger and they have a security strip that runs down the side. My husband had the old 100.00 dollar bill that he was gonna use to pay the fee and they would not accept it and rescheduled his interview since that was the only money he had on him.

  11. The problem with Victoria's Secret is that their bra's stop at a D cup at best. What good is eye candy if the top doesn't fit. For serious ( and a bit pricey ) look at Vollers I own several and they are one of the best short of custom stuff. Vollers cosets

Here is a site that makes daily attire. African Cuts We will be needing couples outfits from conventions here and work functions back in Nigeria.

nessa did get a DD from there. i of course never looked around at the merchandise.

I have seen them offer triple D size bra's there as well. At least the one here does

  12. Okay everyone Thanks for all the responses. My husband just came back from the embassy to figure out what the problem is. He met with the person at the front who told him to go down the hall and wait for MR. _____ to come and get him. Hubby sat there for an hour and finally a man came out and said they were going to his office. They went upstairs and went into a private office. Security was very tight up there they even have military type security up there. CO told him there was a problem that his interview he did on friday was not valid and his approval has been cancelled. The CO will be conducting another interview today and this will determine if he passes or not. CO said there was a problem with his name and status and also my name. Apparently someone with my last name in there system was wanted. luckily I sent my hubby a copy of my passport and my mom passport. CO looked at those made copies and was like okay. Then hubby showed him a copy of the plane tickets with my grandparents name on them when we flew to see hubby's siblings . So that clear up the name problems. Then CO tried to say my family must not of been happy with the wedding that is why they didnt come. So luckily again I had all my family member write a letter saying why they couldnt come and how they felt about us getting married (they all like my hubby) and then I have all letters notorized so hubby was able to give it to the CO. That clear all that up. Then CO said my hubby name was already in the system for immigration which is true cause my husband sibling and parents are all american citizens. so my husband explained that. The CO asked him question after question mostly just about our family members. Interview lasted about 45 mins this time. CO said that is all the questions he has to ask. Walked my husband back down stairs to the front desk and said he was approved close the case there is nothing else to clear up everthing checks out. so they gave my hubby his slip and said he can pickup his visa on tues. Yeah , Glory be to GOD !

  13. The first thing that comes to my mind when reading is AP. I have never heard of this situation in NIgeria. I have heard of it in other common AP regions though.

    Sorry for your delay.

I thought about that to. But I was wondering would they do that after they told him he has been approved and given him his approval notice to go and pick up his visa on the 20th.
