We received my husband's approval letter today, dated 08/22/2011 and we filed in March with VSC. We kept ourselves sane because

we said we weren't going to fuss about anything, until at least the 6 month mark. Now, we have a 6 month break before filing for citizenship

come Feb 2012. I already ordered transcripts of all of the taxes for the past 3 years, we've been sending in copies of our complete returns for

the process so far. We're ready to be finished.

Keep your chin up!! You'll get that letter soon, too. :thumbs:

My husband has been approved!!!

The letter from USCIS dated 08/22/2011, was in the mail box today. Says we should receive his card within 60 days. We're so happy and excited. We didn't expect anything at least until Sept. We now get a small breather until we file for citizenship in Feb. 2012.

Just popping in for a quickie, to see how everything is progressing. Shocked to see an approval for March VSC. :wow:

Even though the Army may have had its hand in the approval process, its still nice to see one on the list.

Yep, we do believe we have a very long wait. We both will be surprised if we hear anything before Sept regarding P's ROC. Good luck to all and don't let the stress get to you.

Thank you kindly, for sharing your answers. I/we really appreciate it. Hopefully, VSC will have our ROC done before hand, but we want to be fully

prepared in case there are any hangups. Even if they speed up their processing, I still don't think he'll have his 10 year card, for very long before

we file N-400.

Good evening Vj'ers!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find out certain specifics. Please forgive me for asking this question once again.

We are currently going through the ROC process for my husband. We filed with VSC on March 8, 2011. Our date for availability to file was February 16, 2011.

We were making sure to "cross all of our t's and dot all of our i's" before sending things in.

Now, on to my question....

Due to VSC being behind and looking like that could possibly run longer then the "6 months" before approval, we were wondering if we must have the 10 year green card

in hand, before filing for citizenship in 2012?

I know you're required to be a PR for at least 3 years, but wasn't sure if having a pending ROC would count towards that 3 year mark.

Thanks in advance and I/we appreciate the help anyone can give us on this question.

A very reliable source informs me that the VSC is transferring the rest of its operations from St. Albans to Essex (to a larger facility). Once everyone is settled, they'll concentrate on one application type at a time in order to catch up. The move in later 2008 took around 9 months to catch up from. ROC applications are running at about 6 months at the VSC now. This may be confusing, si man, but the short story is that it could take awhile for our papers to be looked at, sigh man.

I was surfing through the different boards for ROC filers and saw this little tidbit in the January 2011 board. Now, my husband and I already figured we're looking at Sept. before he receives approval, just by how the timelines are going.

I really wonder if that time frame may extend out, quite a bit more than that. Not much to do, but wait.........though I don't always have the greatest amount of patience in situations such as these.

Card says "Expires 05/20/2011"

Is this a typo do u think? will they honor the 5/20/11 date ?

I looked at my husband's PR card after seeing your post and his "Resident Since" date, is the day he was approved. The date his PR card Expires is exactly 2 years later.

You might want to call USCIS and have that issue checked. I hope it all works out well for you and I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you're going through. Good luck!

The way the biometrics appointment notice is worded, it doesn't even sound like you need to bring a green card. That's just one of the photo IDs they will accept, but a driver's license or passport will also suffice. The wording is a little weird, though:

At our bio location, they asked for my husband's green card and drivers license, for him to have his completed.

I guess I am the second to be on the approved list!

"On April 19, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you."

Also, I actually went on 3/25/11 for early bio.

Just curious, can anyone track their case on the USCIS website yet? Mine still says it can't be found.

You can only track your case once you have the Biometrics appointment letter. Then use that Notification number on the USCIS website.It doesnt work with the receipt number from the NOA1 .

Well "Walk in" Bio people here will let you know if things are speeded up by it ! Surely I would of thought that getting it done 5, 10, or more days earlier can only be good in the long run.We have seen that many of the earlier filers have received RFE's only after having done their Bio appointments. So having done it early any chance of an RFE or your approval would surely come earlier?

We were only early due to being in the area checking out the location of our center . It was a different to the one we had during the AOS process once there we decided to try and do a walk in. I was told to come back in a couple of hours to let the numbers go down .After those 2 hours and waiting in line the appointment was done

In short, we're busy living our lives, not generating paperwork. I've tried to interest my wife in our finances, but she is happy leaving that to me to handle. We don't have a pre-nuptual agreement so (as I understand the laws of my state) our property is owned in common. I suppose there are reasons to get her name on everything but it's not clear why that legitimizes a marriage any more than the sworn testimony of three friends.

Ok, I'm not an immigration adjudicator, and you and the previous poster have valid points. Best to bite the bullet, deal with the paperwork and have the documents at the ready for the ROC. In the meantime.... maybe this advice should be added to the guides,

Scanning some other threads, other posters have come up with some additional ideas for evidence:

Driver's licenses for the couple

Voter registration letter (establishing residence)

Jury duty summons

I agree with you in the fact that we too have been living our lives these past 2 years, but we also knew that the day would come when it was time to continue

with my husband's immigration process. I've always co-mingled assets with my spouse (first marriage) and then with this marriage, so this is nothing new

for me to do. I hope that makes sense.

Just because names are on the same piece of paper, doesn't show the legitimacy of a marriage, but I feel it shows the trust in your spouse and in the strength

of the relationship. Showing financial co-mingling was one of the things on the list given to us also by our interviewing IO during our AOS process, when my husband

was approved. She stated "the more you show that as a couple you do things together (finances...etc.) the better chances you have of not dealing with another interview".

We took her advice to heart and we just wanted to make sure that after everything we've gone through to get to this point, there would be as little chance as possible of our

family being disrupted and torn apart.

The additional ideas you showed here for evidence are good ones and we included copies of our DL's with the same address together. Never thought of a

voter registration card and I've never received any jury summons, but I will certainly keep those things in mind for any future paperwork, we could possibly

need.

I know everyone is different and we all handle our finances in a way that suits us best, but I must say I've never understood how couples don't have their assets together. Just my opinion, but it really dumbfounds me when I see how many couples here don't share and have everything joined.

From the month we were approved for AOS in 2009, we sent quarterly statements of all bills, bank statements, cell phone bills, etc. I added my hubby to everything, once we were married. His name is on vehicles, policies, etc. There really isn't anything that we don't share together. I also sent the full tax return for each year, including our amended return for 2009 after he received his Social#. My tax preparer wouldn't let me add him as my spouse, until he received that card.

I've never done affidavits or sent in any cards/invitations or things of that sort. (Fingers crossed all will be well for our ROC)

I wish you all the best with your RFE and hopefully some of which you see we've sent in, can give you an idea what else you can add to yours.

I will just say what we did for ours.....

We used the ACCO fasteners and two hole punched everything at the top. We also did tabs along the bottom, so the IO's could find each section of evidence with ease. We did this with our AOS and ROC paperwork. So far, we haven't received an RFE with our ROC and actually did an early bio today.
