Hey Kids - not sure if anyone's done this before but after pleading mercy from the person on the phone at NVC for any contact info for someone to an embassy (trying to make sure if at all possible we can avoid getting scheduled on or near the due date for our kid). I just was told to call the main state dept number for visas. Took quite some time of listening to menu options but I did get to speak to a very kind person who gave me an email to inquire with. Also its the first time I've talked with someone from DoS that doesn't appear to be reading a script.

The reason MTL is so far behind, it was explained to me is they lost a lot of Consular Officers with not enough lead time to hire new ones... 5-6 month wait is what she's seeing across the board. I know this is common knowledge but good to see that's what we're seeing here is more accurate of the greater population.

I made my first call of the year to DOS an hour ago...still no interview date. I can't say that I actually thought I'd hear something different, but at the same time, all of the November interviewees were assured they were working as hard and fast as they could to get through the backlog. I'm not noticing any difference from their timelines to mine

Sorry for the angry vent, but I'm so tired of "not knowing" more than anything else right now. I was in Toronto over New Years visiting my Love. It was the fastest trip ever. I don't feel like we had any time to ourselves because there were always friends and family and celebrating going on. Don't get me wrong, it was great, but I don't know if I'll be able to see him again before our wedding...and who knows when that will be. I'm just really sad today, but I always get like this for at least a week afterward I had to leave him at noon EST time yesterday and didn't get home an in bed until 1 am MST. How does everyone make it through the rough patches? I sometimes feel like I'm falling apart.

I'm really hoping we hear something soon!

I am in complete understanding of how you feel today! My fiance left yesterday as well after being here for just under a week; his trip was cut short because his flight was cancelled twice before he decided to drive here. Our time was spent just the same - with lots of family and friends - which is great, but could have used some extra time to ourselves. He also called today and got the same answer - again I didn't expect to hear anything different. BUT we are feeling confident that we are going to hear some good news in the next few weeks.

We try to skype every few days and both of us are basketball fans, so we watch games together over the phone. In the end, all this waiting and frustration will be totally worth it...hang in there...i'm right there with you

my fiance (USC) and i had made a decision that we were only going to call once a week on Mondays to inquire about our interview date...i found out over the weekend that he has been calling everyday (which i think is sweet). As of Friday, we had no date - so we are defintiely still waiting and hoping for an interview before the end of January.

Hi everyone! it's been a while since i've been on the site, but just wanted to let you know that we are also now waiting for our interview date - we sent our packet 3 at the beginning of November and it looks like it was logged in the system on Nov 25.

Are you guys able to see your status online today? I thought I read that someone saw theirs today, but when I go to it says

"Case Status, Processing Times, Office Locator, and Change of Address Online Unavailable

Case Status, Processing Times, Office Locator, and Change of Address Online will be unavailable starting on 9/18/09 5PM EST until 9/19/09 12PM"

But I've been trying since morning (note above says after 5pm) and can't get to a page where I can enter it in...

So I've set up my medical in Toronto on October 21, 2009, 7AM! I figure I'll have my packet 3 before that. It's apparently not a long wait. I thought we had to wait a month for it, but the lady said that she could set me up next week.

i have not ever been able to see my case online since we applied and our lawyer has been a little inactiev (to be polite). I also had not heard anything about the progress of my case through VSC. This morning (after getting into a huge argument with SO last night) decided to try to type in my case number again on the USCIS website and found this message:

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

WE GOT APPROVED!!!!!! I am over the moon and even happier because my fiance is actually coming into town tonight...we are going to celebrate

i am also still waiting; never been able to see my case on line and am very frustrated - so i have been avoiding VJ for the last week. BUT, i'm feeling positive today so hopefully ours will be coming through by the end of this week as my fiance is coming to visit this weekend and i would love to be able to celebrate!

congrats moonbear! you are right...there is no particular order to how they are approving...i'm just hoping that my petition is on the top of the pile of someone's desk for tomorrow morning to check and approve! i have also never been able to see my case online so i feel really blind about this whole process.

I totally understand how you are feeling...that was my sentiment as well. I only wanted one wedding, but the fact of the matter is we will probably get our visa in the winter and i didn't want to wait (plus of course there's that whole issue of getting married before the K-1 expires). So we are getting married at city hall as soon as i get my visa and then our ceremony will be in July. Good thing is - two honeymoons!! We are heading to NYC for the weekend after we get married and then in July we are heading to Hawaii to have our 'real' honeymoon!!

I'm doing well...just a little anxious for the NOA2 I had an amazing weekend - we were in NYC for the US Tennis Open and it was so much fun! Plus, i got to do a bit of shopping...ok...maybe more than a bit!

Hi eltemp...i have also never been able to see my case on line. We are using a lawyer to help with the processing of our K-1 and he called them and they told him that we shouldn't worry about it because our case is filed and being worked on. I'm not too sure if he put in a service request (my fiance deals with him), but up until now i still can't see my case. It kind of sucks because i feel like i'm at the mercy of my lawyer and i keep telling my fiance to make sure he keeps in touch with him...i have nightmares that we have already received our NOA2 and he just hasn't told us yet!

I think its a quiet day, I am currently packing boxes ready...I hope we are approved! My bedroom is such a mess and packing boxes is the only way for me to sort the rest out before the move, I mean for goodness sakes...I sold over 100 things on ebay and I STILL have more items...ARGHH!

Currently at 2 small boxes, 2 medium ones, 1 large. And 2 suitcases which are going to get packed for the flights along with one small doggie....

Hows everyone else doing regarding scheduling everything? I am a bit worried about sending it ahead of the visa but it takes 3 months to get there..

Hey Kayte!! glad to have you back around Fortunately, Connecticut is only a 8 hour drive from Toronto, so it's easy for us to take stuff over; we've my fiance drove here last time he visited so i sent some stuff home with him. We are selling all of our stuff from our Toronto condo with the exception of our flat screen, so there's not a lot to take over. I do, however, have a lot of shoes!

Glad to brighten someone's day So which state will you be moving to? I'll be heading down to Indianapolis. Roland got an assistant professor position at IUPUI. It's a tough market out there for professors, which is why it's easier for me to leave my current job to get one in Indy.

Anyway, there should be 10 approvals so far, 7 April filers.

I will be moving to Connecticut; my fiance went to college there and then got a fantastic job there, so he never left! I've already had a job interview at the company he works for and it was a favourable meeting thank goodness my skills in HR are so transferrable! My best friend lived near Indianapolis for 7 years and loved it!

i'm getting so anxious knowing that all these VSC April filers are getting approved!! I feel so giddy
