You are right Udella...it's not just a civil ceremony...I am gettin married and that's crazy!! Lucky for us, my father in law is actually performing our first ceremony and then our church wedding in July, so both times will be special :)

I woke up this morning and felt like yesterday was a big blur!! I can't believe that after almost a year, we are good to go!

Good luck to Kayla*Mathew - March 23rd tomorrow.

Hope your preparation will lead to good news for jmd77 - March 26th and johnd - March 26th

Hi lilicvioletiris!! just posted my review...we were approved!!! It's a great day :)

  4. Hi Everyone,

I got back home from Montreal about 2 hours ago and wanted to post my review of my interview experience in Montreal. First and foremost, it was a success!! We got approved and could not be any happier :)

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Jeanne-Mance/Rene Levesque Blvd which was literally a 5 minute walk to the Embassy - very convenient and we got a great deal on the room through Travel Zoo. We got to the embassy at 7 am and was 3rd in line. The doors were opened about 7:40 am (just as we were starting to really get cold!) and the security guard let us in one by one to go through the security check. We were fortunate to secure a very late check out (3 pm!!) so we left anything that was unnecessary at the hotel - i basically just travelled with my portfolio folder with all the required info - no purse etc - and it made going through security really quick. We were given the letter "C" and then taken up in the elevator to the waiting room. It was now 8 am and we were sitting waiting for our letter to be called. About 15 minutes later, we were called to window #9 (if you get this person - she was great!) and she went through my info with me (to make sure that everything was correct i.e. home address) and then went through the checklist of items we were asked to bring and collected them. She then gave me a sheet that i took to the cashier and paid my fee of $131 USD. Once paid, i went directly back to the window and she took my fingerprints. This whole process took approximately 15 minutes. The lady was really nice and explained everything she was doing. She then told me to go back and sit down in the waiting room and we would be called into an interview room shortly. She was not kidding! My name was called about 5 minutes later. Both me and my fiance went to interview room #7 and were told take off our coats and hang them up and place all our documents on the chair in the room. I had a male interviewer and he was also really nice! He opened our file and then had us raise our right hands and swear that all the info provided was the truth. He then confirmed my name and some info in my file. He gave me back my original documents that the first lady had taken from me (along with copies of them) and then he proceeded to ask us questions about how we met. He asked me a question, then he asked my fiance and then me again. He was wanting to make sure our stories were the same. He asked us if we had set a wedding date yet and we told him yes; he asked if i was excited about moving and i told him i was excited, nervous, scared and overwhelmed. He laughed and said that sounded about right. He then said that we seemed like a really great couple and that he wishes us all the best in our future. And then he said Congratulations - you have been successful and the visa has been approved!!! I started to tear up :P He then gave me a sheet that explains what happens next. He told me that since today is MOnday, my visa will be in my hands by the end of the week (i gave them the xpresspost envelope they had asked us to bring).

He wished us the best and we were out of there! All in all, the whole process (after the doors opened) took an hour. We were back at our hotel room by 9 am! That gave us plenty of time to grab breakfast (there is an Eggspectations attached to the hotel) and go back to the room for a long nap - my train left at 6 pm and my fiance's flight left at 8 pm. It was such a positive experience and i can't believe how fast everything happened!!

Now, comes the fun part! I am planning on moving to the US on Sunday April 4th and we are getting married a week later (just a civil ceremony). We will be driving through the Queenston/Lewiston bridge, so i will post a quick review once i am "HOME"!!

Thank you everyone for all your support. I have to say that being a part of this community and privy to all the forums, really helped prepare us for this adventure.

Good luck to all of you who are interviewing this month and those that are still waiting!

  5. "Okay Ladies and Gentlemen, its poker time"

Kimbear you are so right, this month did go by fast!

Kayla-Mathew, Good luck and we will be waiting for your review!

Let's keep this thread up and alive till we are done!

Hey everyone...i'm going for my interview on Monday. My fiance is meeting me in MTL on Saturday so we are going to make a weekend of it. Good luck to all of you who have interviews in the next few weeks. I will also post a review when i get back on Tuesday.

  6. OMG OMG...my fiance just called me to tell me that our interview is March 22 at 8 am!!!! Please add me to the list and if anyone else is booked that day it would be great to meet up!!!

AND i can't stop crying happy tears!!!

  7. hi everyone! just wanted to sign in to say hi and i hope that everyone is doing ok and keeping their spirits up. I know it's been another long week of nothing; no interviews booked, but we have to stay positive. I'm praying that we all hear something soon :) have a great weekend - the weather in Toronto today is absolutely beautiful!

  8. I think that is more than enough time.

My P3 log date was early December of 2008 and I ended up with an interview in March. So even if you got an interview in April, or even May, you would be safe.

Thanks for this Sapphire :) it makes me feel a little better...it's been a tough week! At least my fiance is coming up for the weekend as I am moving out of our condo and he is going to be taking some stuff home with him; including my summer clothes! My wedding dress is actually in Connecticut, so that's why i am really hoping for a March interview...i need to start my fittings soon!

  9. I need to take a poll please. Our original, preferred wedding date is April 9th. I'm not feeling too confident we'll be able to make that work with Montreal's scheduling situation. I already have deposits with vendors for April 9th, who will allow us to change our date and not forfeit our deposit, so long as they're given sufficient notice. If we decide to push our wedding date out, I don't think we be in any better predicament in May, or June for that matter, and I don't want to have to do this again (push our date back). I would like to know what everyone's gut feelings (obviously no one know for sure) are on August 9th. With a P3 log date of 11/25/09, do you feel that an 8/9/10 wedding date is safe? I would like to plan a date we can feel pretty darn comfortable with so our friends and family can make arrangements. Thanks for your opinions :)

my packet 3 log date was also Nov 25 and we are getting married July 18. I think that is more than reasonable for you to plan a wedding on August 9 - maybe that is my wishful thinking but i'm really hoping that we will be scheduled for an interview in March.

  10. July 17th is my birthday!!! Aww thanks for the birthday present! :)

Actually, my wedding date was just changed to July 18, 2010 (it was the 17th for so long that i keep forgetting!!) However, July 18 is perfect, because my fiance b'day is July 19 and mine is July 20 :) So, none of us ever have an excuse for forgetting our anniversary...lol. NOW, if only we could get an interview date...

  11. haha kayla you made me laugh! i feel ur pain! we are for sure getting married june 12th, everything has been planned and paid for so i def understand about trying to relax haha

our wedding date is July 17 and our packet 3 was logged back in November; I was hoping for a February interview, but i don't think it will be until March :( the waiting sucks!

  12. My packet 3 was logged today so I'm now "Eligible for an interview but it has not been scheduled yet"

YAY! looks like a bunch of people on the CR1 side got booked for interviews in Feb today. In the meantime, my fiance has contacted his senator's office about our case and they are going to be looking into it for us...not too sure what that means, but i hope it means we will get an interview soon!

  13. Wow that is long Amanda....for K1 they require you to call and set up an appointment once you receive your P3 and is done before the interview.

Hey Amanda :) I'm a K-1 applicant and MTL received my packet 3 in November and we have not yet heard anything about our interview. It is a process that does test the limit of your patience, however MTL has recently started to book interviews for February...I hope all of us can get an interview schedules soon :) Good luck!

  14. Well I see a K1 found out they had an interview date on Feb 3 on friday. Good lord I pray they get mine logged soon :(

 me too! I just want to hear something before the end of the month. My employer 'let me go' at the end of December because they had to make cuts and since they knew i was relocating they figured i was the best choice to go...so now i'm not working and i'm going crazy!!! Next week will be a good week for those of us waiting...i hope!

  15. Hey Everyone! Hope you are all having a great week :)

I just read on one of the other threads that someone got booked for an interview in MTL for Feb 1st! I believe they are in the CR1 process, BUT i think that is very optimistic for all of us!

crossing my fingers that we all start hearing something too :D

  16. My fiance called 2 days ago. They told him that Montreal has hired and trained a bunch of new staff so they are no longer short staffed and should pick up the pace and clear out the backlog soon. *shrugs* We'll see I guess.

well i will take this news over the news we got any day :) when my fiance got the info of 5 - 7 months wait, he actually contacted two senators in hopes to get some help with our petition. Ultimately, it would be great if they could just give us an interview date...even if it is in a few months; it would make the wait less anxious.

  17. Has anyone received word for February Interviews Yet?

Good luck to all those January Interviews!

Hi there...my fiance has been calling everyday and we have not been booked for anything yet :( It has been written on this site that MTL is so backlogged that there is a 5 - 7 month wait. We are hoping that is just what they are saying and not really what is happening, but there is a shortage of staff at the embassy. i'm hoping to hear something before the end of the month, but i'm not too optimistic :(

good luck to everyone who is waiting...i REALLY hope we hear something soon.

  18. I just wish i knew how montreal processed interviews. It really hurts to see ppl who got their noa2 so much later than i did get the whole journey done in 8 months while i'm still waiting for an interview. dont get me wrong i'm happy for all those who have been reunited with their loved ones, but i just get so sad at how much time has passed and how long we have been forced to be apart and not start our life together :( some ppl seem to get interviews in 2 motnhs others it takes 5-6 and it's really maddening to see that happen. :( blargh.

i totally hear you Kimbear - just stay strong...our time is coming :)
