  1. This does not apply to me, I am asking this for a friend.  If i  am posting in the wrong topic, than please move it to the correct forum.

Scenario:   A US citizen met and  married an out of status immigrant. He was here on a student visa but it expired in December of 2016.  They were married in March of this year and filed the necessary forms to adjust his status  at the end of May.   They sent in too much money and the application was rejected.  After the rejection, someone  (INS) showed up at their door asking questions about him and where he was  since he wasn't home at the time. Of course this frightened them once they got news of the situation and hired a lawyer and refiled the necessary paper work with the correct money amount. They were told the officers will come to their home again on Monday, but they are not sure if he will be detained when they come back on Monday or what could possibly happen if this occurs. If anyone has any information on a scenario, please let me know.

  2. I received an RFE to show financial co-mingling as well and this what I sent them:

My husband is not on my checking account but I wrote a letter attesting to this fact and he and I both signed the document.

I sent a copy of my tax returns for 2013 showing we filed married/jointly

A document showing my husband was on my car insurance

A document showing he shared a credit card with me

a document showing we both had costco memberships

A copy of the recorded deed for our house showing both our names

a copy of a timeshare we purchased

We also sent documents showing trips we had taken over the last 3 years

  3. We went through the embassy in Riyadh and found the process long but worth it. There was a couple on here who did file a DCF, but I haven't seen them on in a while. You can send an email to riyadhIV@state.gov for any questions and I found them very responsive to my email inquiries. During the interview, they will ask the "usual questions" but if they find something suspicious or just security checks in general then be prepared to undergo further processing. I know several couples who had successful results and some who didn't but this is the norm for any embassy. If you have any specific questions, you can email me.

  4. It's officially over.... My fiancee turned in the expired documents and received his passport back with his VISA in hand... THANK YOU GOD!!! I think we're both in shock, we were both on the phone like .. REALLY? Maybe the excitement will come later.... LOL... Anyways, just wanted to give update. I'm rooting for you Muslimqueen and for everyone else.. hopefully this will come to an end soon...

  5. I don't have any experinece in this kind of situation... Best advice, go with your inner voice and leave it at that.... I'm fairly certain, straightening out his visa status is going to be an uphill and frustrating process. I do know his best recourse is to take on an American citizen as a wife in order to finally be in the States "legally". He is using his parents country of heritage in order to be granted asylum, but in all actuality, his is really a Brazillian citizen. I'm sure you will make the best possible decision for yourself. My prayers are with you as always.

  6. Another update....

The embassy called my fiancee again on October 30 and I asked him was there any way he could expedite getting a new Bangladesh police certificate and my fiancee he didn't think so but he could try. They told him to please hurry and we were both wondering why the big rush and I put it out of my mind and so on Friday, I called the State Department just to hear them tell me the case is still under "administrative revie", but I wasn't told this.. I was told the visa was issued on 10/27/2010... I was dumbfounded and shocked.. so I called again to make sure I wasn't hallucinating and I was told the same thing.. the visa was issued... I'm thinking maybe new versions of the police certificates are a formality and once he gets it to them..... we would have indeed finished...

  7. An update to our case:

Embassy called fiancee on yesterday and was told to get a new police certificate and to redo his medical as they were about to expire. They also asked for 2009 tax return for me and for him to come to the embassy to retake the oath. I have no idea why he has to retake the oath as he took it before he gave his interview last year. Who knows? Maybe the CO forgot to notate it down? We're hoping this is good news.

  8. We are going through the Riyadh embassy and we sent an email to the embassy inquiring about our case, we got a response stating

    Ms....

I'm working with the FPM on this case to take another course of actions

    on Mr.... case. :help::help:

Does anyone know what FPM means or stand for? I would have been ok if he stated CO, but FPM????

    Any response appreciated.

  9. I sent an email to the embassy in Riyadh and receive an "out of office" response not because they are actually "closed" but because they aren't responding to inquiries until after June 3rd. I was told by another VJer that they told her fiancee about 2 weeks back that they were backlogged and they will work on their case once his name comes up... Could it be they aren't communication any more is because they are trying to clear their backlog? Am I being to hopeful? What do you guys think?

  10. Hi everyone,

My finace is Egyptian but currently working in Saudi Arabia. I know KSA has strict laws concerning women traveling alone, I'm curious if anyone has any information on this or if they have traveled to KSA without a male relative. I would like to join my finace for his interview but I'm not sure if I can get a visa to come or if I will have a difficult time while I am there since we are not married and I would be traveling alone.

    Thanks all

You can't travel to the Kingdom unless your father, brother or husband petition for you to go and since this is only your fiancee in the kingdom then you aren't allowed to travel to kingdom. My fiancee works there as well and a single woman can't go to the kingdom without a male relative petitioning for her.

    thanks,

    Dee

  12. Please someone tell me good news.If im not ever gonna get a visa,i at least want to know other people are getting theirs.Im having a hard time today.I really worryed about Alen.He will soon be homeless and hasnt heard another word about the job he thought he had.We are both so stressed. It seems so unfair that they made him return to baghdad in the middle of so much fighting.Hes scared but there is nowhere to run.I feel helpless.Im just so sad today.I feel like its all my fault because my us consulate set him up and had them pick him up at there gates. His resident card was not even expired. How they can get away with that i dont know. But it is just so frustrating.Having a bad day today sorry guys.Praying for all of you.I need to hear some good news even if it is not my own visa i wanna see yall get yours soon.

I am sorry to read about everything that is happening to you and your fiancee. It seems like the embassies are making it worse by not offering any consultation as to how long this process really takes once you are placed in administrative review or process. I believe most couples could bear the length of their journey if they knew a time turntable as to how long it takes once you are place in AP for whatever reason. I have no "good" news to share but an update to my case is I called the US embassy in Riyadh and spoke to someone their and trust me it is exceedingly difficult to get someone to answer their phone at this particular consulate. Anyways the guy who answered the phone is the same one I have been corresponding with via email. He was very nice and apologetic about everything. Whomever they have checking my fiancee's background haven't been able to complete it for whatever reason and he told me they are following up every month but so far it hasn't finished and every time he thinks they should be finished they tell they are not finished and he is working to get them to bring our case to a closure. He is hoping to have everything wrapped up before June but hey .. I can hope this is the case but until then we are praying for an end and for everyone else's as well....

Congratulations to all those who have received their visa and hopefully more of us will come off this list this month!

  13. so my wife went on Thursday. Reached the embassy at 1:30...was out by 2:30 with the VISA.....oh my God!!! After a year of this crappy process,it is finally over.. Thanks a lot to everyone on VJ. I wouldnt have gotten through this without all the advice and support.

Then we bought her ticket and out of all the airlines, we chose AIR FRANCE....So we all know what happened with the whole Ashes and airport closures. So the utter happiness plummeted pretty fast. Her flight got cancelled but some good persistent hounding of the airport officials and she got put on a direct flight from dubai to Usa. I should be seeing her in the next 12 hrs. I will update you guys with her POE experience.

Thanks again everyone and please, Update me on the spreadsheet :)

Congratulations and wishing you success in your new life together!!
