It depends on your city.

In Houston they tell you to show up at 7:00, but the ceremony starts at around 11 and finishes at 12 (or 11:30 and 12:30). So you'll be there for several hours.

In other cities you'll be there for only one or two hours. The ceremonies are the same, so it usually takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour once everything gets started. The big difference is that some ceremonies have 25 people attending and others have 4000. What takes the most time is check-in and picking up the naturalization certificates.

WHAT??? So what do you do from 7 to 11?????

Of those that have had their status changed to 'In Line for Interview' and also filed G-1145 with your application, how many recieved a text/email of their status update? I have not received any

notifications beyond my original Acceptance confirmation.

Mainly curious to see if they "forget" or skip it for some people.

Yes it is the slowest. I asked on a post why, and one dude told me not to think about conspiration. Amazing brains out there lol!

Changed my field office, it was wrong

How is my question about why is Houston much slower a conspiracy item? It's just a question dude, if you have an answer with some info you are welcome to help

How is my question about getting a 5 year old transcript a conspiracy item?
For the record, it never came. As their is no conspiracy at USCIS against me, I will take only my 4 years of transcripts, and proudly walk out with my approval to be naturalized.

Seriously, the N-400 is the easiest process to navigate. If you can get to the stage where an application meets the general criteria for acceptance, you have to be pretty unlucky to be rejected. People just need to learn to relax. The sky is not falling.

I am just naturalized in H-town. Compared to a year or so its very fast in Houston now. It took me just 6 months. This is decent time in US considering how many people naturalize in Houston (2710 on my big day). I have seen people got it in 5 months too. But right now 6-7 months, if ur background is clean, is a good bet.

Makes me laugh how everyone thinks there is some big conspiracy when it comes to their application.

USCIS is a buracreacy, like any other. It is going to do, what it is going to do.

Hi Everyone,

We just returned from a one week trip to Scotland to visit my family. My Greencard expired on Feb 8th and I have the extension letter allowing me to work and travel for a further year. We flew from Boston to London Heathrow then on to Edinburgh. Leaving the US I was never asked for my Greencard. When we checked in at Edinburgh Airport with British Airways the woman at the desk asked for my Greencard. She scanned it in the system and it told her it was expired. I told her about the extension letter and she asked to see it. She then manually changed the expiry date of my Greencard to 2013 and checked us in. When we arrived back in Boston I gave the CBP Officer my passport, Greencard and extension letter. He immediately handed me the extension letter back and scanned my Greencard. Obviously the extension is in the system and they don't need the letter.

So basically there was no issues at all traveling with an expired Greencard and extension letter. They don't seem to require the letter in the US but make sure you take it with you in case they ask for it in the country you are traveling to when you return.

I guess depends on the airport, they asked for mine in Dallas
