  1. Hi everyone i called DOS two different times today and i was informed that my husbands case is still at the embassy, they didnt send his file anywhere, so i guess his ap is at the embassy level, now i understand why they called him and questioned him, the lady from DOS also informed me that it was a background check. I told her how they called my husband and asked him a variety of questions and i asked her does that help the ap--she said yes because it means their working on the case trying to complete it as soon as possible and that i can call back anytime to check his status and to find out when its in its final stages. My relief is that its still at the emabassy. Has anyone in mena ever had an ap at the embassy level and how long did it take?????

    good luck everyone

  3. i have a question, well since the embassy already called my husband and questioned him and got basically all his information, will that help his ap go faster since they already got the info they needed???????????? I just dont understand why they called and asked him lots of questions and got all his info and then send the case to washington for ap, i thought that was the background check-----its so frustrating!!!!!!

sorry for posting twice, i thought my 1st reply didnt show up so i did it again.

  4. i have a question, basically since they already called and questioned my husband as soon as they put him in ap, like they got all his information and families names, and haweeya number, etc----will that help his ap maybe?????? Maybe it will be a little quicker since the embassy already questioned him and got the information they needed-- i really hope it will be within 1-3 months like they told my husband. What do you think????

  5. Hi, havent been around for a while. Please anyone give me some info or advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband had his interview at the consulate in jerusalem on JUNE 23, 2009, the co told him everything was fine but they just needed a "no tax letter" from me the petitioner.

The embassy receives the letter a few weeks later, and on JULY 17, 2009, the embassy called my husband and asked him a variety of questions, they asked him questions such as:

    What is you mothers name?

    fathers name

    sisters names

    what do you work

have you ever been out of the country

and they also asked for his haweeya number

The embassy told my husband that they received the letter that was requested after the interview and that they are just going to review his papers one more time and it will take from 1-3 months for them to call him back for his passport.

2 days ago i just received a letter in the mail from the embassy saying (this case is complete but needs additional administrative processing and they will call us as soon as it is complete)

I called DOS and the case is in washinton in AP.

My question is why did they send the case to washington and put him in ap if they already called him and got all their information??????????? He has no criminal record or ANything out of the ordinary, they already questioned him when they called him!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have any experience, ideas anything, how long can we expect to wait in ap for???? Will it be just like the embassy told my husband when they called him, 1-3 months. And the paper they sent me says that they have completed the case but just needs additonal processing. AND his name is MOHAMMED, common. So how long can we expect to wait for, please anyone help!!

  7. Hi everyone, today is my husbands birthday and our 1 yr anniversary,(we got married on his birthday). Well he had his interview a few weeks ago on june 23rd, they requested a small tax letter from me the petitioner. They just received his letter a few days ago on Monday. Well anywayz today the embassy called my husband and asked him a few questions like what is your fathers name, whats your mothers name, what are your sisters names, what is your passport number and Haweeya number?(i guess they were doing their background check at this time) Random questions like that. They informed my husband that they received the tax letter, and that everything is good with his case, and that they are going to review his papers and call him within a month for his visa.

I am soo happy, i thought today would be a sad day because its our anniversary and his birthday but alhamdullilah GOD gave us something to be happy about. I am so surprised they called him only a few days after receiving the letter!!!!!! This lets me know they are moving quickly and i know now that everythings going to be okay and well be together soon!!

  8. I just sent an email to the embassy in jerusalem regarding my husbands case. He had interview on june 23rd but they requested a letter from me, which the embassy already has. AFTER the email i got an auto response saying random things, like it generally takes 4-5 days to respond, and it actually has a list of frequently asked questions and one of them was this:

Q: Can I pick up the visa the same day?

A: Because of the administrative processing associated with visa issuance, it is not possible to issue visas on the same day of the interview. Assuming that the applicant appears with all required documents and the case does not require additional administrative processing, the visa could be ready in as little as one week. However, most cases do require additional processing, and this can take significant time. Please do not make travel plans until you have your visa in hand. Visas will be returned to applicants when they are ready by courier.

My question is, the co told my husband everything is perfect in your file we just need a letter from your wife "no tax note" and well call you to drop off your passport because this isnt a major problem. He got a 221g with no tax note written on it and on the bottom it says...if your submission meets the requirments then theyll ask him to drop off his passport. The 221 g didnt state that it needed additonal processing just this letter. But reading this particualr section from the auto response got me soo down. IS this a normal thing for ALL embassies to state about the visa issuance, Ive read some mena interviews where additonal documents were requested and they had no problems getting the visa shortly afterwards. i realy hope all goes well. Hope to hear from some MENAS soon.

  9. There was a similar case just posted out of Pali. They asked for further info, told him everythign was fine and after it was turned in, they advised the husband that he was on AP. I REALLY hope that isnt the case with you guys.

MOST of the time when they ask for further docs or evidence, they issue the visa shortly after receiving the requested forms/docs/evidence.

Stay on top of the consulate. You can email them and ask when how long to expect the visa to be issued after they receive the evidence ;)

    Good Luck!

Hi i believe i know who your talking about from palestine, i belive they requested a police certificate from him because he was in jail for a few years, but i wish him all the best. They only requested small letter from me, so i hope things go well. Inshallah they do. i cant wait for all this to be over!

I hope so too. Thats why I said most of the time, its an easy thing..get the visa in a matter of weeks.

    :)

I hope everything goes well too, me and my husband havent seen each other in 10 months, i just feel like all i have are memories and i feel like hes so far away from me. Its so hard, we fight alot now, i wish i could go back to see him but he would rather have me here because the life over there is hard AND he has an EVIL stepmom who treted me horrible, so i really hope things go well inshallah.

  11. His name is also mohammed. But for his interview he had to get both a palestinian and israeli police certificate which are both clear with no criminal background, and the embassy has those. In israel its very hard for the arabs to get around israel without a special permit which only few are able to get, so life over there is basically just work and home.

  12. Hi everyone, im from palestine, i cant believe ive never found this forum until now. Anywayz i have a question maybe someone from MENA can give me some advice. Well my husband had his interview on june 23rd, the co told him everything is perfect but he requested a "no tax note" from petitioner (me) signed and dated, just a small letter saying i dont pay taxes and i live under my father, you know how it is, its not really required for a women to work or move out she gets married, and i just turned 20. Anywayz i sent the letter to my hubby and the embassy received it on monday. The co told my hubby well call you to send in your passport after we receive this letter, and he told my hubby dont worry because this isnt a major problem.

My question is, has anyone from MENA ever had the same experience where the co requested additional info after the interview and got the visa shortly after? i would LOVE to hear from someone with the same experience.

Looking forward to hearing from fellow MENAs!!

  13. Hi! My husband got a call from the embassy today and the guy was asking basic information like where were you born and how many times you leaved the country and when is your birthday and stuff. And after talking for a while he said he will call back cuz the counsler is calling him. so he called after 2 hours and he said that his case is 80% complete and 10% more to go. He also explained that normally the AP takes 6months for AP but people usually do get it before taht time period. And he said for your case i cant say for sure but you should get a reply in 4-5weeks. its already been 3months sinces my husbands interview.

I am really confused cuz im thinking why would they call and ask information they already have? and one more thing im confused about is that the embassy in abu dhabi opens from Thursday to Sunday. and today was Wednesday, if they are closed do they still work on cases or what???

Hope everyones AP goes fast. Please reply if you have experienced this before! and please answer the questions i have.

    Thanks

    Kmehmood

Hi that sounds like good news to me, the embassy is probably open to the public from thurs-sund, but they probably still work on other days. I think your husband should get his visa soon, good luck!!

  14. Yeah, the postal guys can't tell you how long it's going to take ever, especially internationally. The only time I've heard of mail getting anywhere on time is that 3 days/2days/24 hours GUARANTEED mail that they have in the states (but I'm not sure if that's offered internationally). I highly highly doubt the postal man in the states told you it was guaranteed to be there in 5 days, and if he did, he was lying. When my mom mails stuff here they usually say between 7-10 business days...and usually it takes about 10 days. Sometimes it's 15, sometimes it's 20, one time it was 60, but it's never less than 10. The point is, you never know. Don't freak out. If it's not there by Friday then you could call someone maybe to try to track it, but until Friday, you have nothing to worry about.

How exactly did you mail it? And when is the interview?

Hi yeah i hope it gets there soon, no my husband already had his interview, but they gave him a 221g for a " no tax note from petitioner" . ive already sent the letter the same day after his interview, i just dont want to delay the embassy getting it. I mailed it by express mail international 5 day shipping. So i hope i arrived today but they just havent sent them out.

  15. sorry fro posting multiple times, my computer froze and i kept clicking the post button, i didnt think it would post many times, sorry...

anywayz i have the tracking code but all it states is that it left the country on the 25th, they havent updated it.

  16. Hi i sent to my husband a letter they needed from me after his interview on june 23rd. the letter is going to jerusalem israel, and its going to my husbands po box. I sent it on the 23rd of june, i did the 5 day shipping, the man that works at the postal office told me that it would arrive in 5 days, dont count weekends, and it would arrive on the 30th. Well i just talked to my husband and he told me it didnt arrive yet! Today is the 30th, does that mean it arrived today BUT the mail people havent sent them out yet, we think he"ll probably get it tomorrow. I feel so paranoid, i really hope that its still with the postal office and their about to send them out. Am i right???

  18. Hi everyone, i hope everyones doing okay. As i previously stated my husband had his interview june 23rd , was approved but needed an additional document, a no tax note from petitioner, which is me. The embassy will have it in a few days, Anywayz my husband talked to a really good friend of his who works inside the embassy and he told my husband that when you send in the requested document, it ususally takes 3-4 weeks for them to call you to submit the passport.

I really hope so and i hope they call him soon. A few people had the same problem when they went to their interviews the same time as my husband. It sucks waiting, ive been in this process since october 2007 thats why i take it hard, i just dream of being with him, id do anything.

But im just gonna have hope and faith and pray that as soon as they receive this letter signed and dated from me that theyll approve it and call him. I guess we should all just stay postive or well drive ourselves insane. I wish everyone the best in this tiring journey.

  19. hi my husband is not from islamabad but from palestine. he had his interview june 23rd. He passed with a very nice co BUT he wanted an addtitional document from me and was given a paper stating "we cannot issue visa at this time under 221g, and in order to complete processing of this case please submit: and it states a "no tax note from petitioner, signed and dated." The co told him when you send us this well look at it then call you to submit your passport. The embassy will have it in a few days, i made sure to send it asap.

I really hope it doesnt take long, i can feel with everyone who has some sort of delay after the interview, its very hard but its out of our hands. I wish everyone the best and inshallah we are all reunited with our loved soon.
