  1. Do I need to send supporting documents with my I-485 and I-130?

If you are considering not using a lawyer, you're going to have to do a lot of research yourself as far as what's required. I recommend you start by reading the guides here on VJ.

If you're confused about anything, or don't want to put the work into it, and you have the money, then let someone else do it. If you're going to do it yourself you need to commit to a little hard work.

  2. I need to take a drug test for a job I've been offered. I do take some prescription medicine that may show up on the test. I've been told that as long as I have a prescription I'm fine, and I do. I just freak out easily. I'm moving to a whole new city for this. :/

The test is at a freestanding testing facility, not the employer.

Help me stop freaking out? Maybe?

  3. FWIW, I've supported myself and my spouse on what is surely much less than what you (OP) would be making in your profession. We don't have health insurance at all, and we deal with it. We're certainly stretched, but we're not starving. I'm not recommending this as the ideal in any way, but you'd be surprised by what you can make work.

  4. Husband too, if he knew all about this before the interview. He needs a lawyer as well, in case this gets referred to the Justice Department.

    Why? I'm asking this genuinely.

OP has obviously screwed up here, but I do believe that some of the judgmental comments would be best left to OT. She's in a mess and she knows it, she doesn't need kicking while she's down.

  5. You got your receipt notice in November, and you haven't received your biometrics appointment yet? This is way out of the normal time frame. You need to call USCIS to make sure this wasn't lost in the mail.

All of the receipt letters say that about sending in documentation. If you've already sent it, like most people do, it's nothing you have to worry about.

I would be concerned about the lack of bio notice though.

  6. It is possible. Though I would suspect it is not a simple matter. And each case is different. However, at this point there is precedent.

See this from the Dept. of Justice, Board of Immigration Appeals >>>> http://www.justice.gov/eoir/vll/intdec/vol25/3707.pdf

That was interesting reading, however plodding. Am I understanding the interpretation right, that the "conditions" aren't the marriage itself, but the bona fide-ness of said marriage?
