Champi, that looks really good too, I hope you have a smooth ROC process  Thanks for sharing it with me. I really appreciate it.

  2. Evidence looks good to me!

You said you don't have a driver license... my husband doesn't either yet, but he did get a State ID. Then I just made a photocopy of my driver license and his state ID next to each other to show we lived at the same address.

(Congrats on the baby!! My brother's wife is having a baby in October too, and I am so excited to be an aunt :))

Sarah&Rob, thank you for your response and advise :) Looks like your ROC is going smooth too, what did you send? Thank you, yes I am excited about this pregnancy, that is why I do not want when my belly is getting bigger and I have to worry about dealing with USCIS  Oh, I am an aunt too, so I know how you feel

  3. Yep, looks pretty good to me too. Some suggestions would be utility bills/loan documents in both your names. If you filed any medical claims under your husband's insurance, you can add the explanation of benefits for those. Also anything your husband has, showing you as the beneficiary (such as 401k, life insurance) and vice versa. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck!!

Stardust72, thank you for your suggestions, but unfortunately I don't have any utility bills with both our names on :( and I think I only have one medical claim that I filed so far, cause before that in the military we went to military treatment facility and it was free over there, just when I went to civilian healthcare provider that I have a claim to file for.

    Looks pretty good..

Thank you, how about you? what did you send as your evidence?

  4. Hi,it is almost time for me to file for ROC. I am supposed to file it on Mid June this year but I want to start to gather the evidence now and ask for your advise. Your advise is greatly appreciated and it is open to all who have been through this stage or are about to send it too like myself.

Here are some evidence that I already have and plan to get one soon:

    1. Apartment lease
    2. Tax return transcript 2009 and 2010
    3. Joint checking account statement and copies of our cards
    4. Joint credit card statement and copies of our cards
    5. Military ID showing my husband as the sponsor
    6. TRICARE (health insurance) documents, such as the enrollment form, the certificate of creditable coverage. In which all of the documents showing information about my husband as the sponsor and me as his spouse also our address.
    7. Power of Attorney from him when he was deployed, giving me the right to enroll in DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility System)so that I could get my military ID card and eligible for Healthcare insurance by TRICARE
    8. My husband's Post 9/11 GI Bill application which shows my name as the emergency contact and our relationship as spouse and our same address
    9. My husband's school application which shows my name as spouse and emergency contact
    10. Itinerary and plane ticket to Montana together in 2010 to visit his parents
    11. Photos that has our pictures together and family
    12. Affidavits from 2 people who have known us
    13. Miscellaneous copies of documents from Department of Defense showing our names and relationship and address
    14. Copies of letters and cards to our address

I think that is all I can think of and I am planning to submit. I do not have driver's license cause I can't drive so there is no car insurance or title either, and no child's birth certificate, cause our first child is due this October :)So, what do you guys think? I really appreciate your suggestions

  6. Hi, I would like to ask your advise. I am going to file for ROC this June but as usual I am a bit paranoid so I am starting to gather evidences from now. What I want to ask is about my apartment lease agreement. The story is like this. I came to the US after my I passed my interview on Sept 5th, 2009. Before I got my visa my husband, who is the petitioner was living in the military base. So by the time I told him that I got my visa and was going to the US he was trying to find for a new apartment outside the military base. He managed to get the apartment for us, but since that time I was on my way to the US and he had to sign the lease agreement, so he just put my name in the lease but since I was not there at that time, so only his signature on the lease, not mine. But there is my name on it. Oh, but when we renewed the lease 6 months later I signed the renewal lease. Do you think it is okay?

  7. I am planning to have my last name change when filing for ROC. I read that many have done it successfully. My question is did you submit copy of your marriage certificate or not? I got married in Indonesia, though the marriage certificate already has both Indonesian and English language in it, I assumed I still have to submit the translation too. The problem is I only have one of the certified translation of it. I was thinking if some of you have made it to get the name changed without the marriage certificate. Otherwise, do you think it is sufficient if I just copy the translation I already have? Thank you so much to all who try to help

  8. i have a count document changing the last name form my madden name to my husbands.

Couple of thing to remember 

If you are taking your husbands LAST name as your LAST name, then you don’t need a court document. All you need is your marriage license, and you should be able to change it on Drivers License, social security and other department will accept your marriage certificate as proof for the change.

If you are taking any name other that your husbands LAST name, then you need a court document showing a legal change of name. Its not a simple document to get… there are some formalities that you need to go through… fist you need to file a petition in the local court for name change … then you need to provide proof that you inform all your debitors( whomever you borrow money from) about your legal name change… then you need to publish your name change in the local news paper for a month… if their aren’t any complaints against you name change then you appear before a judge and he/she will approve the name change .

Of course these rules are different form county to county … this is what I had to go thorough for my name change. I haven’t change the name on ss, divers license …etc because the SS administration told be that it be better if I change the name on the green card first… I have just filed I-751 and will see how things go

Hi, thank you for the response :) I just want to take my husband's last name. Actually I was planning like you are doing now. But then next year before filing my I-751 me and my husband are planning to buy a house, that is why I was thinking if I better change my name now on the SSN. What do you suggest about that?

  9. After you obtain your legal name change document, don't forget to update and apply for a new social security card with your new name. SSN is your real ID in the US, as the A# is your real ID to USCIS. Keep your record updated with them and you wouldn't have any issues down the line with IRS or any other authorities.

Thank you me&me for the answer, but I thought to add last name in my SSN I have to change my maiden name to married name in my permanent resident card first. I did change my last name in my passport already, but for SSN the condition to change the name is after I change my last name with USCIS, which I am going to do when I file for removing conditional status. Cause if I did it now it is going to cost me around $350, which I dont want. So, the case is that I want to buy property and then put my married name, and then when I file for removing conditional status I will change my name on my permanent resident card then go to SSN to change my name on it. What do you think? will it be okay?

  10. Hi, if anyone could give me advice on this matter I would really appreciate it. Well, I am planning to add my husband's last name when I file for removing conditional status, which is still be later on the beginning of June 2011. Right now I still have my maiden name. The question is if next year we are planning to buy a house and a car, that we are going to put my name on it as well, can we just put my married name already? I mean, I hope this will not be a problem or affect anything with tax or anything. I know that when we are filing for tax return I will still use my maiden name since it has to be based on the name on SSN. But how about buying property? will it have any effect? Thank you for anyone answering this, have a good day!

  11. For the alien and case number, just write "none" since she has not got ones yet.

Then for the first step you only have to file the I-130 and G-325 form (yours and your wife), and remember the G-325 from your wife has to be signed herself (I assume you're already back to the US now). Then for the rest forms are for the NVC stage. Try to read the instructions carefully when you want to file. Good luck.

  12. Firstly, I'd like to congratulate you on your marriage. Regarding your questions about the step after you get NOA2, I think you are missing something for the NVC part. Cause after you get NOA2, your case will be sent to NVC then you and your wife will have to submit some documents to them, and in this stage there is no exact time frame. It really depends on whether you give the documents they need or not. Then after the NVC accepts all the documents, they will forward the case to the US Embassy in Jakarta and the NVC will set the date for your interview. Usually you will have around one or two months ahead from the interview date, this interview time based on the availability time the US Embassy in Jakarta have to interview the intending immigrant. While your wife is waiting for the interview, she will be required to get a medical check, which can only be done in Jakarta (read the US Embassy in Jakarta site). And yes, I do not know whether you can accompany her while she is being interviewed. Cause intending immigrant is being interviewed in a small room. Well, you may call the embassy to ask for it. Again, good luck on your journey.

  13. If your fiancee insists that she still wants to have a grand wedding ceremony in cathedral in Jakarta, then you have to abandon your K1 application and then you have to endure some months of separation while filing for CR1 visa.

But if you still want to pursue the K1 visa which is already approved and just a half way to go before the interview, explain to your fiancee to not expect to get married in Indonesia instead in the US.

Listen to the other members's advices, your fiancee can not enter the US with K1 visa if you get married in Indonesia.

    Good Luck!

  14. I just checked my mail and we got a letter from the USCIS containing an I-797C Notice of Action. It says Notice Type: Welcome Notice. It also says that we should be receiving further correspondence from them in 30 days. If not, they tell us to contact them and use the A-number given on the NOA to inquire. It says that the receipt date of our packet from POE is December 22 2009 and the same under Notice date. Does this mean we will be getting our GC 30 days from the 22nd now? Rather than the actual POE? Is this letter about the GC?

Yes, that is about GC, you should be getting your GC soon mailed to you.

  15. I'd assume you'll have to file with the date you moved. Remember you already filed yours so it will raise eyebrows if you put a different date for your spouse. USCIS will imagine you'd both move together since you're a married couple. I'm sure people file late or realize late that both have to be filed and USCIS doesn't give them grief over it. Good luck.

Thank you for your advise ;)

  16. Hi, I would like to ask what if my husband (the sponsor, US citizen) is late to file for his change of address. I, the beneficiary, already filed for AR-11, when first time we moved. I think we have moved for about 4 months now. I read that the I-865 should be filed within 30 days of our move. Will we be okay if he files it now? and what date should he fills in for the moving date? the first time we moved or the day he files it just now? thank you very much for the response !!!

  17. Good day all, ...

I am on process of CR1 & Cr2 for 2 of my kids & next week we are going to have my Interview in US Embassy. I knew my Husband over the Dating site, after that we talk online Minimum 4 till 6 hours daily by Video Call in YM also he call me everyday to my cellphone or my homeland no.

We have this long distance dated for two & half months before He came to my country to marry me ( we not doing the engagement thing , directly marriage )

Now .. I am concerning about this matter, " Is it will be problem in my interview If the Consular knew about How we know each other & for how long before we got marriage this type Question ???? "

We do really Love each other so much & it's killing us to be apart like this (7,5 months already) when we already Husband & wife.

Is it enough proof to bring at interview ?

I think you will be fine with your evidence. Do not worry too much about the online thing, it is not something unusual now fro someone to meet and get marry through that way. Just be calm and answer the questions in confidence. Good luck !

  18. Just want to share my experience here from interview today in San Antonio. I had 10:00 am interview, thank god we (my husband and I) didn't have to drive for few hours. We got to the USCIS office 9:30, IO called me around 10:45. It was really easy, she didn't ask me for any documents but GC. She went through all the documents with me, she asked me to swore for the information that I gave to them is true. And than she give me the test; for the read and write test, she asked me to read 3 sentences, and than asked me to write 2 sentences that she dictated. For the civic test, She just asked 6 questions, because I got them right. Here the questions that she asked;

    1. What is one right or freedom from the first amendment?

    2. What are two rights in the declaration of independence?

    3. Who is in charge of the executive branch?

    4. If the President can no longer serve, who becomes president?

    5. What are two ways that Americans can participate in their democracy?

    6. Why does the flag have 50 stars?

Good news is I passed the interview, and waiting for the oath ceremony letter in the mail now. I hope will be arrive soon. Good luck for anyone here that will have interview.

    congratulation :) !!!

anyway, I would like to ask, I know that my journey to becoming US citizen is still quite long, but I would like to know in advance where and how did you learn the civic test? so i could start reading ;) thank you
