  1. I've just returned from the Social Security office to update my citizenship status. It took 31 minutes from check-in. When you get to the check-in kiosk, select that you are there for a card. If possible, you should have an application for a new social security card filled out. When called to the window, state that you need to update your citizenship status, present your application, your ID, and if available your current social security card.

The agent asked me for my naturalization certificate, but I offered my US Passport Card instead, and was accepted without comment. He punched some things into his computer, and handed me a receipt. I should get a new card in 2 weeks.

Do you get a new social security card once you update your status with social security office?

  2. I am done! Oath ceremony today..man it took a long time..like 3 hours ++

Gave back the green card and the letter for oath back. Registered for vote and I will be doing my passport soon as well as updating my SSA info.

    Location: Oakton High School Auditorium

Total number of people swearing in today: 502 people I think or 505...But a lot! It was a chaos! You have babies crying and a lot of families members...but for me been in this country for so long, literally I felt like I born here..the only ties I have back in my birth country is just family and friends...I am so used to the way of life here ...So the whole ceremony is nice and long but sort of anticlimax after so long LOL......the high is when I got my GC...(a while ago too!)

Congressman from our district showed up and gave a nice speech though. Well done for the USCIS folks for doing the whole event..it's crazy

Good luck to others that are still waiting

    Congrats!

Update for my timeline, my oath notice was mailed!

    Good to hear!

  4. Hello everyone

    To sum it up

I had my interview back in July based on three year rule

Officer said all good but we need to consolidate all your files

I have an old Green card with a different number that I abandoned when I moved back to my home country

    Fast forward to today

I just received a letter from uscis stating that a decision cannot be made until the back ground check is completed

I am puzzled - background check after the N-400 interview

I thought they do the due diligence after the finger print before the interview

Any similar situations - advice please ?

I would not worrry about it, probably the reason why is because you abandoned your Green Card before, they might do some checks on that, I think you going to be okay. Good luck ya sahbi

  5. The website finally updated for me no more than an hour ago. It now reads that the Oath letter has been mailed. It was only showning that my "interview was scheduled" even though I completed the interview 13 days ago. In other news, my mother who lives in NYC just passed her interview about 10 minutes ago. I will update her story on the "July Thread" once I've had a chance to hear all the details.

    Congrats!

  6. I had my oath ceremony October 14, 2015 at 1pm

1.I arrived 12:40 and i am with my boyfriend but the guard wearing blue coat stop us when he saw my boyfriend carrying camera , he said camera is not allowed but phone is allowed . it's odd because everyone using phone and taking picture inside. alot of applicants with their family been stopped and they actually go back to their car to put the camera away.

    2. although my appointment stated arrived at 1pm , they closed the door at 1:30 ( if you are late chances you can wait 2 months for your next ceremony)

    3. since my boyfriend has to put the camera back in our car i waited for him which took him almost 30 minutes to get back that means i was late for a minute and the guy let us in then close the door after.

    4. people are clapping to those people are late lol ( some said we are too early for the next ceremony) kinda pain in the ### since they never stated that no camera allowed . how ironic they let phone inside and they are allowed to take photo.

    5. they are two doors for applicant and guest after the back check in. its in the same room except the whole hall is devided in two , applicants and guest seats . they are 2800+ applicant and more family members than applicants in the convention center.

the spokesperson of the ceremony stated that the top 5 applicants that days are chinese , 4th is the vietnamese , 3rd el salvadorian , 2nd philippines and the number one majority of the applicants taking oath that day are mexicans.

    6. before you get seated i was directed to the left corner where officials members of uscis are seated with numbers on the wall , i saw one of the person who interviewed me . they took my oath ceremony letter and green card , after they stamp it and staple and punch hole in my green card they write number to my letter ( it means that is designated number where to go after ceremony to claim your certificate )

    6. ceremony started around 1:45 , the judge made his speech , and we pledge , and sung the national anthem .

    7. after that we you checked your number that they stamped where to get your certificate.

    8. they took back the letter of the oath ceremony that they stamped together the greencard and gave to me my certificate. i thought they going to throw my green card in the bin but its not they kept it in the folder were they took my certificate . i guess that will goes back to they record.

    9. the ceremony finished at 2:45 , by the way the guest (family member) are asked to leave the hall after the ceremony and they can wait at the exit door . while the applicants are remain inside till they get their certificate

by the way if you come early you get out first . you get seated accordingly based upon your arrival , there is no designated seat per name . it just if you get early you seated in first row. then you get your certificate first . since i am late i am one of the last person ,but it didnt take that long , they are very organize.

good luck everyone , hope i can help you guys by sharing my experience . (L)

    Congrats!

  7. Hey guys, I passed my interview and now waiting on the oath ceremony. My status changed the next day after my interview.

You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address

  8. Is it normal that my husband still has the following message on myUSCIS regarding his status?

"On June 16, 2015, we received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case."

He had his biometrics and fingerprints taken July 6th. Absolutely nothing has happened since then. The "last updated" date on myUSCIS is still June 17th. According to this forum other Twin Cities filers received "in line" emails well over a month ago; should we be concerned that USCIS have lost his file?

    Thanks!

If I was you, I would definitely give them a call and see what's going on

  9. I am officially a U.S. Citizen !!!! ???????????????????????!!! Today I had my oath ceremony at Orlando field office. There were 87 participants. It was very emotional and a lot of people cried including my self. That's it. This is the end of the journey with immigration. I turn in my green card and I got my naturalization certificate and took lots of pictures :)

    Next step is passport.

Thanks to everyone in this forum you were all very helpful. This n400 process took less than 3 months. June 10 till September 3. I couldn't ask for a faster process.

Good luck to every one here and wish u all fast approvals

    Congrats!

  10. I just got approved!!!!! ????????????????!!!

The interview was 10 min. He asked me 6 questions which I answered all of them correctly. He told me to write a sentence "the White House is in Washington, D.C." Then he just reviewd my application like verifying my address and that I am still married .. When did j leave the country and to where also what my husband does for living.

And in the end he asked me 20 questions that the answer is yes or no.

And that was it. He said you are approved and the best part is I have my oath ceremony this Thursday September 3rd!!!!! Yayyyyyy

    Good luck to everyone here

    Congrats!
