No they don't, as long as they contain the I swear statement that is in the RFE paperwork. If you get an RFE for affidavits, you will see what I mean.

My husband worked as a contractor for the US Government in Bosnia, and we didn't think we needed to get a police certificate. We were wrong. We are getting a letter from his employer stating that he was under military orders to be there and that he lived on a US Army base and not on the economy. They said that this will be as good as a police certificate.
Hopefully we will have it soon and we can get it and the passport back to the embassy soon. So that we can go home.

Thanks, but that link just says that it is available and that it is two documents. It doesn't tell how to get it.
Anyon please!!!!

Right now he is in the UK. Is there anyway for him to get it from here?

Same for us, Approved---pending one piece of paper. But it does feel good for it to be almost over with.

Well, we just got back from London. Long day. We are approved pending one single piece of paper which we should have today or tomorrow. They didn't ask my husband anything at all other than which countries he has lived in before. Other than that, we are really happy that after we send them this piece of paper it is all over.

Thanks Marm. I am so nervous that I couldn't sleep last night. We are going to Stay in London tonight. I will let eveyone know how it goes when we get back.
Marm, I hope that you have some good news soon. You have helped so many people here. You deserve to be happy too.

Just wait and see if they charge you the $355, if they do, they have accepted it. If not, I am sure that you will hear something from them soon.

I just came back from my local DHL office. I went there to get some packing materials, which they didn't have. The man at the desk gave me a quote for the dimensions of my package. 10x50x65(pictures in frames) it would cost 97 pounds. He then told me that there is a company that buys space on DHL flights. And that they had a website for parcel shipping and it was a lot cheaper than regular DHL although it really is still DHL. He went to this website and got a quote with the same dimensions and it would cost 37 pounds. Now that is cheaper. He told me that you type in all of your shipping details and then print all of the shipping labels. They will come to you to pick up the parcels, or you can drop it off at your local DHL. Imagine that.
The website is
www.parcelmonkey.co.uk
Hope this helps someone.

Congratulations Yvie. You will be flying "Home" before you know it.

We just got back from London. We had a very nice receptionist and a nice South African doctor. His appointment was at 9:10 and we were out in like 25 or 30 minutes. The doctor told him that everything is fine but if something shows on the xray or blood test, they would let him know. Can't wait til next week.

I can't wait to see that big shiny star beside my name - we were APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!!!

The embassy was correct, your military record will work for you. No idea about the rest of it.
How did you get your military record, and is it different from your red book?

The embassy website has shown the 21st of May as a processing date for some time now. One other couple who filed around the same time has just received information denying the application. They were unable to prove the residence part of the application. I filed on the 16th of April, and the website showed the 16th of April for several weeks, and I received an RFE. And as soon as we sent in the required documents we were approved. As for you having to leave, that is ok. Once you have received the NOA1, you can leave and the Embassy will still process the application. You will have already proved residency. I know that leaving is really hard. We have not had that problem. You could always wait for your residency to expire and then just fly to Amsterdam and come back as a visitor. Or go through the ILR process. Hope things work out for you.

That is the same address we used. Ours got there just fine.

Yes Yvie good luck with the medical.
Well we have some bad news and some good news.
Originally my husbands medical was scheduled for the
7th of June. Things has since changed, and he is going to reschedule it tomorrow. That of course is the bad news. The good news is, he has to reschedule it for a sooner date because his interview is on the 7th of July. I received an email from the embassy today telling me that packet 4 went out in the mail today with the 7th as the interview date. I was gobsmacked. And we want to have the medical done and dusted before the interview, so that he does not get approved pending medical results. Hopefully, they still have some available appointments.Hope that everyone elses goes as quickly.
The date here that has been marked out should have been 7th of July. I was a bit crazy to put June.
My husband called first thing this morning, and they told him that they had just had a cancellation and he could get an appointment on 01 July 2009.
Hope everything goes well for Yvie today.

well, on the form, we put our travel date as the 20th of July. I also sent them an email on the 22nd of June, as our house in Texas has been broken into and I asked if we could get an appointment date sooner. The reply to the email was today and it just said that an interview letter had been sent out today with an interview date of the 7th. My brother was not able to fix the back door, the point of entry as the policeman called it, he has nailed a board over the door. He is staying there temporarily to keep a watch on it, but he has to report to his new duty station by the 8th of July. So my house is going to be sitting empty and available to all to get into. I am going crazy

We sent an email to the embassy on the 22nd of June and got a reply today 25th June.

Hi everyone. Add us to the list, my husband has his interview on the 7th of July. We have been reading this thread religiously since we started this process in April and have gotten some great advice from you all, from what to wear to the interview to what color to paint the walls. It has been great fun reading, and now we get to participate as well.

We filed DCF London in April, and we are currently waiting for our interview letter. If you look at the thread that was mentioned before, you will get lots of information about this.

I would just tick yes, and then when they go through the check list with you and ask about it, you can explain. I think this would be better, so they do not think you are trying to hide anything.
Here we go, what are we letting ourselves in for?!

Hey everyone. Sorry that I haven't posted in a long while. But we have been away from the internet. Here is our update.
After the interview, we contacted the company that my husband needed to get the paper from, it was easier to get this paper than to get the police certificate for Bosnia. The company sent the paper two days later, but the dates were wrong. I asked for a new one with the correct dates, and they sent it again the next day. Still wrong dates. Third time was a charm and we contacted the SMS and they called the next day to set up the collection appointment. So, two days to get it picked up and they did not deliver it to the embassy the next day, it got there two days later. The visa was approved on Tuesday and we got the visa delivered yesterday. We are off tomorrow morning for two weeks camping in Wales and then we are off to Texas on the 7th of August.
Congrats Evie I really hope that things go very quickly for you now. Wait, what am I talking about. Haven't you just set a world record for getting a visa????
Talk soon
