  1. Almost the same thing happen to me. They said the sent out my interview letter already but it was 2-3 weeks until my interview and I didn't have it yet for my wife's medical exam. What I did was I printed out the email and brought it to the consulate's front window and then they let my wife in the consulate to pick up the packet. It's was pretty painless and easy. They will let you do it monday-thursday 1:00pm - 3:00pm. What I would do in your situation is let your fiancee fill out the ds-230 and bring it to the consulate with that email and let her turn it in or if they need to give you something else, pick it up anyways. The should explain to your fiancee what she needs to do.

I thought they won't let non U.S. citizens in? So all she needs to do now is to fill out the DS-230? She can just have it printed out and sent it in? Is it the same as if the consulate send it to her?

  2. Finally got the reply from the consulate by email. Here is what they said:

    Dear Mr. Chiang:

We have sent the beneficiary an Instruction Package to the following

address 60T LE QUANG SUNG, P. 6, Q. 6, HO CHI MINH. As indicated in

your email, there isn't a big different in her address. Therefore, it

not necessary for us to resent the packet to the beneficiary. However,

we attached the Instruction Package here for your usage. The form

    DS-230 is also available at:

    http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html.

The beneficiary is requested to return the completed DS-230 Part I to us

as soon as possible. We will schedule the beneficiary for a visa

interview after we receive this form. The beneficiary's case may be

terminated if the beneficiary fails to pursue the application within one

    year May 26.

So what does this mean? They said they sent it and they feel it's not necessary to resend it. However, my fiancee still have nothing. They attached a Package 3 for in pdf in my email and had a link to a DS-230 form. So what should I do? Download the Package 3.pdf and DS-230 form in the link and have my fiancee fill those out? Will that do? I'm at a lost here on what's right and what should I do.

  3. OMG. I found out what was wrong. I called up the NVC and even the Washinton D.C. office to find out what's going on. They told me the consulate in Ho Chi Minh received the packet on April 20th. They were waiting for a response from my fiancee. My fiancee told me she didn't receive anything. Anyway, I think there is a bit of a mix up on the address part. A part of her address suppose to be F6.Q6, but instead it said P6.Q6. What am I suppose to do now? They told me I should contact the Ho Chi Minh consulate office. You think they can resend the packet to the correct address? However, isn't P6 and F6 the same? Someone in Vietnam experience please tell me. Would just someone like that mess things up?

  4. Did you call the NVC to make sure the case has been sent on to the foreign consulate? That's the first step. It could be stuck there for "additional processing" at the NVC. I'm not sure a congressional inquiry can do much now - you have alrady been approved.

I think that what the casework form is for, to see the status of my case. Like whether or not it have left NVC or still stuck there for AP. The NVC still haven't reply to my email. I sent it last week. On their website, they said email was the best way to contact them.

  5. Well, I talked to the secretary at the attorney's office. She told me to fill out this casework form, it's a federal agency help form. I don't know if it helps, but the attorney that I hired to handle my case is now a congressman. It sure didn't speed up the progress as far as a whole. So who knows if this form will help. Also, the secretary told me to tell my fiancee to go to the consulate in Vietnam and ask them if they have anything for her. We'll see if either of these help at all.

  6. The NVC sent me their letter dated April 8th, 2009. It stated that my fiancee will soon receive information from the consulate. It's been more than a month now. She has yet to receive anything. I sent an email to the NVC, but haven't got a reply yet. When I received the letter from the NVC like I did, I shouldn't have to do anything right? I just wait? Is my wait about right? What does this all mean? I hope my fiancee will get some answer soon. If she still doesn't receive anything by end of June, I'm going to be very worried. Please shed some light on this for me. Thanks.

  7. Ask the people like myself who are still waiting from December, or some people from November and October. Chill out. Get used to people getting approved waaaaay before you. There is no rhyme or reason for this. Only start to freak out of you are approaching the 6 month mark.

The people you call as the USCIS only have the info that you can see on your screen and nothing else. They can only help you if you are about to approach the 6+ month waiting mark, and that's it.

I'm one of them. I filed in late November. Got my NVC letter marked April 8th, but my fiancee has yet to receive anything over there. I'm worried, but I know there are people here that waited just as long. Though, there's nothing I can do but wait.

  8. The letter you received last week was from the National Visa Center (NVC). It is a form letter that most everyone receives. Yes, it is "signed" Bureau of Consular Affairs but it is from NVC.

Most cases get processed at NVC quickly and will make it to the consulate/embassy in 2-3 weeks. Occasionally, a case will get selected for additional processing at NVC. If you want to know if your case has left NVC and been sent to HCM, you need to call them and speak to an operator. They will ask for the case number from your letter.

On your timeline, the date they tell you it has been sent is your "Left NVC" date, not the date of your letter.

If you click on Immigration Timelines above, you can watch a video on filling out your timeline.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

On that letter I received from the NVC, there was nothing about a date when they going to send it. It just say my fiancee will should receive a packet. So my date on my timeline about the NVC should be "received", not "sent" right? And what my immigration status should be? I put AOS approved. Am I not there yet? As you can see, I still have a few things to figure out about this place. I see you also have a petition for your fiancee in Vietnam. Is that correct? I wish you and your fiancee good luck.

  9. Sorry but I'm new here and still not sure exactly how to do the timeline and also what everything really means. To give you an idea of where I am. Just last week, I received a letter from the Bureau of Consular Affairs stating that my fiancee will soon receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for the K1 visa. So I don't know if my status under my username is correct or not. I will try to do my timeline the best I can.
