  1. Just got off phone with CSC and told that my case was in the background investigation unit and we also had a touch again yesterday which is the very reason why I called today , so I have no idea how long it stays there but I pray that they do whatever it is they need to do so that we get going and the process can be underway for my Man of God to come home where he belongs. I am continuing to pray for everyone and trusting God that none of us have long to wait.

  2. Thank you Lord for answering our prayer. Thank you wifey for the support and patience. We'll be together soon..Good news from NVC. Our case is completed! What a relief  ..What a good way to start the week.. :) .. NVC told me that i should receive something in the mail within the 3rd week of July for our interview date>> Yeah like i would wait that long to check :D ..Thanks everyone for all the help. I know we're not out of the woods yet but i am very happy to move on to the next level.. Thanks again and safe journey to all...

    Praise the Lord and congratulations!!!

  3. Did he/she sound rude to you when you asked?

No he wasn't rude at all, I asked the officer to check if it was on the shelf and he told me that it was still sitting on the shelf and he couldn't tell me when someone would work on it except for the maybe july or wait the full 5 months since you sent the application in.

Did he/she sound rude to you when you asked?

Hello everyone, I just called CSC and was told they are working on my case but have not made a decision yet? Please anyone who has called before and got similiar response PLEASE,PLEASE COMMENT!! Thank you very much!!

This was the answer I was hoping to hear....guess my time will come soon enough

I am sure you will cause you are right in front of us. I was just curious as how long they take for their decisions though cause our first touch was from 06/18/09

The touch from 06/18 was USCIS putting your case in their system! Approval can come at anytime Dearheart, just stay strong!!!! Best wishes and Happy 4th of July.

Thank you Paris I appreciate your input and trust me I have already been praying for you many, many times so yours is coming very soon, I trust God for that!! I guess you could just say I am a bit excited at the same time a little nervous, but nonetheless I trust God for all of us!!!

Its means they are processing your petition. Give it atleast 2 weeks, then check back if you dont hear anything else from them.

    Best wishes!!

Ok thank you was very curious on if it is not decided , how long that decision takes and what the process is of that.

  6. Hi everyone! Thanks again for your advice. The only thing that I'm worried about is if we do not post the banns (or if we post them and i'm not there yet, or if we get married before the 15 days)-- is the US going to recognize our marriage as valid? I really don't want to screw anything up.

Has anyone had experience with this before?

    Thanks!

Yes your marriage will still be valid, all they are interested in is the certified sealed marriage certificate from the civil court which makes it valid and legal in the US.

  7. I just checked USCIS and we got a touch, now I do not know what else comes with that but at least it was touched , can only pray and believe God for our Approval notice.

Congrats ! It seems they are working on the April petitions, I'm seeing the dawn of hope, :) although still no touch for me~~

Well touches don't always mean for an approval right away but we are believing God for all of us to be united with our spouses as we ought to.

  8. Hi Queeny! Congrats on your marriage as well! I hope everything moves smoothly for you.

Thanks so much for your advice. Do you know how long it takes to get the certificate? or how long in advance you have to register?

Drame's family is from Ker Madiabel near Kaolack, but we'll probably be at the Universite de Gaston Berger in Saint-Louis for most of my stay there.

Good morning, I also was married in Dakar in 2007 and we never posted anything in the Banns, we did have both our Birth Certificates and they took copies of , as for the Us Embassy they did give me not my husband , a attestation celibrat to certify i was single. As for your getting married there in the Civil Court, yeah you can get married without posting it in a Banns but it will cost you more than a penny, we had to pay Sengelese style if you can understand that. One thing I definetely know about Senegal is you pay extra for everything!! Not just as a foreigner, but more especially as a USC. I have lived there for six months in Mbour and Saly so I do know what I am talking about!! But congradulations and May God bless you both! And no your Birth Certificate does not have to say in anticipation for marriage, it only needs to be certified with the seal from Vital Records.

  9. I received NOA 1 on April 7, '09 and no news since. I assume it was forwarded to the CSC since the NOA 1 was addressed from there but have no confirmation of that. Have seen no "touches" or other information about processing from USCIS since registering, I've checked and logged into the site often, perhaps too often making the time go by more slowly. I keep hopiing to give my wife some news about our filing but it just isn't available. It would help to lift her spirits.

same thing to me too, it is frustrating to see nothing both online and mailbox

So far nothing here as well, but my husband and I both thank God for His mercy and grace, along with patience as we celebrate our two year anniversary TODAY!

Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

  10. Here's the story.

Stayed in Senegal for school for a year. Decided to stay the summer with my fiance. Went to the ministry l'interior for extention of my visa. Gathered all the paperwork. Went to the city police to pick up my paperwork. They needed more information. Gave them that information. They said wait two weeks and we will mail you your papers. it has been 3 weeks and i haven't recieved anything. Most people have told me that I wont recieve anything, this government isn't good with paper work. So, the question is.... my last visa expired the 22nd of May... I'm still here. They gave me a little piece of paper with just a date on it, saying that if something happens I could just show this paper and they will know that my visa is being processed. Interesting....

should i believe them and will i have problems leaving in August to go back to the States?

p.s. went to the Togo embassy to get a tourist visa. They were closed, the Consulate opened just for me and gave me my visa in 30 minutes.... hmmm.. why can't life always be this easy?

Mrs.Jayb you should not have any problems trying to leave I lived there with my SO for 6 months last year and I didn't get my tourist visa, only stamped my PP every 3 months and was ok when I left had no problems whatsover!

  11. We are right along with you. We filed using an attestation of birth which came from the National Population Commission alonf with the birth cert. which was generated in 2004 when he got a passport. Since we are still waiting....it will be interesting to see what happens. Many people don't have birth certificates so the attestation of birth was the only way this could be resolved for us.

I'm interested in what others have to say about this as well. So far we have had no RFE.....but it is still very early.

Just curious why did you already send in a copy of SO's birth certificate? It isn't required until you reach the IV Packet stage.

We just sent everything we needed needed the birth certificates as part of the process to properly legalize our marriage in Italy, so when I filed I submetted all of the legalization documents including my apostilled Birth certificate for use in Italy and his birth certificate as well. I've heard a few stories of marriages not being considered legal because certain steps were not followed. So we wanted to do everything correctly. Also since my husband is originally from Nigeria, we decided to be safe and include affidavits from family and much more. it will all be resubmitted later as well. We just decided to get everything ready to go from begining all the way through NVC (even though we are not there yet. We have a baby on the way so are hoping to avoid any RFE and any unecessary delays that might happen because we don't have something yet.

    Wow....sorry I didn't proof read this

Anyway......we did it because his Birth cert. and attestation of birth were needed as part of the marriage legalization process in Italy. I just submitted all of the legalization docs instead of just the marriage cert.

I'm just glad I found VJ because the guides were wonderful as well as all the advice I found here. We probably over dosed on the proof and documents with the petition but better safe than sorry.

Yes just like you cornbread, i submitted my husbnads along with all other relevant documents just to be sure and in case. And mine also has his from the National Population Commission only it has a record number and validation along with a Sealed High Court Judicial Division of Statutory Declaration of Age validating age and place of Birth in Nigeria so prayerfully all is well . Anyway I sent copies of all just to be safe!

  12. Just FYI April Filers, no wonder it is taking so long take a look at Uscis website and se the new update:

USCIS Updates Information on FY2010 H-1B Petition Filings

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced information on the number of filings for H-1B petitions for the fiscal year 2010 program.

USCIS has received approximately 45,500 H-1B petitions counting toward the Congressionally-mandated 65,000 cap. The agency continues to accept petitions subject to the general cap.

Additionally, the agency has received approximately 20,000 petitions for aliens with advanced degrees; however, we continue to accept advanced degree petitions since experience has shown that not all petitions received are approvable. Congress mandated that the first 20,000 of these types of petitions are exempt from any fiscal year cap on available H-1B visas.

For cases filed for premium processing during the initial five-day filing window, the 15-day premium processing period began April 7. For cases filed for premium processing after the filing window, the premium processing period begins on the date USCIS takes physical possession of the petition.

USCIS will provide regular updates on the processing of FY2010 H-1B petitions. The updates can be found on the USCIS Web site at www.uscis.gov/h-1b_count.

Yep. I'd pay for premium processing...but I guess that's just for businesses...

Hopefully since those 15 days are up (and the next 15 days) they'll get back to our petty family-reunification immigration petitions.

    Urgh...this stuff make me sad!

Yes i hope so that they go back to the I-130... isn't it more important to bring everyone to their spouse?

Guess they never were in a long distance relationship, i am sure if they were... they would love to help us quick!

But to everyone...lets try to keep smiling!

Take care and love from Ri

YES WE PRAY THAT THEY DO GET BACK TO BUSINESS AND THAT WE CAN START TO SEE OUR APPROVALS!!!

  14. Called AVR and got "missing information, letter was sent May 6th" I was like :girlwerewolf2xn:

Then decided to call operator to find out what I was missing - NOTHING!!! Just waiting for IV Bill to be paid :) Just a bit of a scare!

SO finally got his PCC from Senegal yesterday - WHAT AN ORDEAL!!!!!!!!!! He had to pay a bribe just to get it!!!! The POLICE told him foreigners aren't allowed to have police certificates - #######????? He was so worried about giving the police a bribe for fear he'd be arrested. Thank goodness they just needed an extra 5,000CFA (about $10) and they gave it to him. I REALLY wanted to this whole process completely legal and following all the rules but what the heck are you supposed to do when the ONE AND ONLY place in the country that gives out the PCC's for foreigns refuses to do so????

Well I can tell you from my experience of the Senegalese Government is they make you pay a bribe for everything. When we were married there in 2007 through the civil court after our church ceremony, we had to pay a very large ridiculous bribe just so we could be married before my flight was scheduled to leave so yes it is a shame but that is exactly what they do. Charge for everything!!But I am glad he was able to get it and you are almost done. Very excited for you .

  15. Husband got PCC on the SAME DAY he requested it in Nigeria - BLOW ME AWAY!!!!! GOD IS AWESOME!!! Today he goes to the courts for affidavit for birth certificate! He could be back on a plane back to Senegal on Thursday to get his PCC from them and then send them off to me!!

It only cost him 4000 Naira too!

Praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy, I was just also wondering if you knew if it was mandatory for your husband to go to Nigeria to get his police certificate? Do you know if it is possible for my husband to have someone else get it for him or must he go there in person?

Absolutely mandatory now. They won't take fingerprinting from other countries, so he'll have to go and get fingerprinted.

SO got his birth certificate affidavit in less than a day too!!! He'll be back in Senegal by the end of the week!

Ok thank you very much, now we will have to prepare for him to go back home. Was hoping to avoid that.
