  1. I just had a fight..as in BIG fight (online) with my husband and my hands are still shaking until now and I'm not really into my senses. That argument really drained me..mentally and emotionally. And it's sooooo hard when you're in "you're so near, yet so far" situation because of internet. And I'm sure I'm not the only one in (and have been) this situation. So what do you guys do when you're in situations like this..? How do you kiss and make-up?

    beth

For long distance relationships, two words...........Cam Sex.

  2. I saw another approval that had my same NOA1 date of 4-14. Since I never check the USCIS website I figured I would log in and see if I had any touches. This is what I found:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On August 18, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

  3. probably that stigma about it being more socially acceptable than darker skin....i blame that on european colonialism that set deep roots in the mindsets of their former subjects....

This is an understatement. Filipina's are outwardly prejudiced against other darker skinned Filipinas. The sale of skin whitening soaps and products is a multi-million dollar industry in the Philippines. Many filipinas have a strong fear of their skin getting dark.

  4. For those who keep saying that this is not part of the filipina culture, I guess you have never dated or spent time with filipinas that were brought up as Warai. They are very well known for there short tempers and willingness to fight. Now by far this is not the majority of filipinas, but it does exist in the culture.

  5. DONT DO IT.

Here are the rules. Pay attention to the bold.

    MOTOR VEHICLES

The importation of privately owned vehicles (POV's) to the Philippines is very restrictive. The process is long, requires a great deal of paperwork, and a special import permit is required. This permit is available only in the Philippines, and can not be issued by an embassy or consulate office

CUSTOMER MUST BE PRESENT FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE

Only returning Filipino residents and foreign embassy diplomats are allowed to import motor vehicles "Duty Free"

All motor vehicles must have an Import Authority Permit issued by the Philippine Bureau of Import Service before the vehicle is shipped.

Owner must have lived abroad for at least one year and car must have been registered in his name at least six months if the car is more than three years old, vehicles more than three years old should be registered under shippers name at least one year prior to application of the Import Permit

Failure to comply with above will result in PENALTIES AND CONFISCATION of vehicle

Auto must arrive within 60 days of customer's arrival

Destination Agent must be contacted prior to shipping any vehicles

All vehicles subject to taxes and duties

Gasoline-fueled cars limited to 2,800 cc not over 1,500 kgs

    Right-hand driven vehicles not permitted

Only one vehicle allowed per family

Autos five years old or older not permitted

Banned/unauthorized motor vehicles subject to seizure; owner subject to penalties

    Documents required:

Original Registration and proof of ownership

Import Permit from Department of Trade or Bureau of Import

    Surety Bond

    Original Bill of Sale

    Original Passport

    Certificate of arrival

    Stencils of chassis/engine number

Deed of Sale or Commercial Invoice

Other documents, depending on customer's immigration status

They will always find a reason to apply penalties. In other worrds, without payment to the proper people it is not worth the trouble. There are vehilcles of all types and price range readily available here.

  6. Went online to do some bill paying and noticed that my check had already cleared from USCIS. I viewed the check online and found the receipt number and logged in to the USCIS website. So in short, the summary is I mailed the package from the Philippines on April 6th. On April 8th, the package was received and my NOA1 was issued. (Waiting for the hardcopy). By April 10th, my check had cleared my bank. Wow, that was all very fast. But of course, now we all know the real wait begins.

For us, the wait is not as bad as others. I have a house in the Philippines that my fiance and I live in. I also have my house in America. I go back to America about every 3 or 4 months for a couple of months and then return. I have been doing this for 2 years now. I am hoping my trip back to America in June will be the last I take without Mae.
