I don't know - I had to make an InfoPass appointment because it was over 45 days after my recommended approval and still no notice of an oath ceremony received.

So I drove to Indianapolis yesterday, and they scheduled me right there for the next available ceremony in my area - February 17th in South Bend.

My N400 was approved, interview was in Atlanta ,georgia on january 10th.

It was a smooth process, i was just asked 6 questions and to read and write one sentence each. she also cross checked what i had mentioned in application for citizenship, like my name , DOB and date of marriage. She did not ask for any original documents or for any extra documents. So overall it was a nice 10 minutes interview without any tension or difficulty.

Here are my timelines; Filed on october 10 2011,FP on nov 4th, interview on jan 10th, oath not yet over.

We gained nothing by doing the three year, and a major headache with evidence. Had this strange idea that my wife would no longer have to maintain her foreign passport, that was a joke!

One reason to apply is to get a federal or state job, fat chance of that now with layoffs, my postman just retired, over 1,500 applications for his job, fat chance of getting that. Wife could vote in a local election, waste of time, 90% of the candidates ran unopposed. Another joke.

Another reason for applying, wife was having problems with her employer with her expired conditional green card. But she did get her ten year card two weeks before her interview, she was good for another ten years. That knocked down the significance of showing them her US certificate just a few weeks later, but was forever instead of just ten years.

Son had a new born at the time of her interview, since both he and his wife have to work to make ends meet, we also had our hands full helping to watch Amber. But was nothing like having her the rest of the time for my kids. They tend to cry in the middle of the night, so can't even get a decent nights rest. You have your hands full!

Heck, just wait the extra two years, your green card, check, and application is all you need. That time will go quick.

i too had that thought , to wait 2 more yrs , but one problem is when i go to visit my brothers in europe, i need to go for a visa stamp , so i thought better to get the CS.

You have two options:

1. Apply after you travel because these days, it is taking around 4-5 months to go through the entire process. If you apply August 10, that will put your travel around the time where you will be scheduled for an interview which could cause a delay.

2. Apply a little later, maybe closer to end of September and that will put you in the time where all you will do is waiting... then it will not affect the process.

As for your travel restrictions, there are two things you need to comply with to remain eligible.

1. Physical presence - which you should have lived a minimum of 18 months our of the past 36 months in the US.

2. Continuous residence - you should not have traveled outside the US for trips that lasted 6 months or longer.

If you meet both conditions, a 2 week trip will not affect the process at all. When you go to your interview, just inform the IO that you have traveled outside the US and provide them with the dates.

I will recommend you do some more research on the District office you will be going to for interview. You will either be Atlanta GA or New Orleans, LA. Depends on which part of Alabama you live in. You can verify by visiting the uscis website and check the district office locator.

Once you research it you can see how fast people are tracking...

I entered US on 14 june 2008 on CR1 and got the 10 yr GC last year in 2010.As per the instructions i was eligible to apply for citizenship on march 15th 2011. so now i am sending application N400 on aug 10th( due to delay in collecting the documents, busy with newborn baby!)My question is : we are planning to go to my country india, for just two weeks in december 2011, will the travel cause any problem ,how long will it take for the citizenship process, we are in alabama. if the process is not over in december will it affect the clause of 3 years continuous residency in US?

What was the letter saying as reason for denial.? USCIS don't care how much money and who sends money to who? What USCIS need are proof of bonafide marriage esp. joint accounts or financial activities that u both share as husband and wife. That includes joint bank accounts, utility bills in both ur names(some companies let u do that)., Health insurance cards, letters addressed to both same address and stuff like that.

I understand how ur wife is going t hrough this time. What her friend told her was all non sense. I worked hard to send how much money i wanna send to my family and i did not have a problem with my removing of condtion.

They might need more evidence from u guys.

yes i too agree that not contributing to pay the expense is the reason for denial. they just want the joint bank statment , but they don't check what the money is used for, i was not working at the time of removing the condition , so i was not contributing any money towards expenses, but we had a joint bank account and joint credit card and i had sent boththe statements. infact i got the condition removed without any interview. it depends on how much you could convince them that your marriage is in good faith. can you pls give the list of evidences submitted .

so only the tax docs are required with the application.Is it enough to take all other evidence docs forthe interview?

All the documents pertaining to 'Proof of marriage' will be required at the interview...both original and copies.

During the interview they will take the copies of bank docs, Birth certs, insurance papers, bills etc...all the docs that JustBob scratched off...take them for the interview.

I did the same and I applied based on 3 years of marriage. Everything was fine.

They took copies of bills ( medical and bank) during the interview.

Please make a copy of the completed N400 form.

They will ask you to verify information from the form during the interview.

So keep a copy and go over it before the interview...

Good Luck...you will be just fine.

I came on CR1 and my daughter accompanied me on CR2. now both of us got our 10 year GC. My daughter is 12 years old now. I understand that i can apply for Citizenship next year this time. After reading the guidelines I really have a doubt,I am applying for citizenship based on my mariage to a US citizen,so whether my child who will be only 13 next year (who is the step child to my husband) can apply along with me for citizenship.I read that children less than 18 years are not eligible to apply for Citizenship.It also states that only adopted children who are less than 18 years are eligible and step children are not. since my daughter is only 13 next year won't she be able to apply for citizenship?

I remember seeing you in the CR1 spouse visa forum . I am also from India. I got my 10 year GC this August . I think Ican apply for my Citizenship next year. I was just finding out the required evidences to be send for that. I read that we have to send divorce decree of previous mariages, which we have already submitted for the CR1 visa, still should we send it again? Do you have any idea?

I have a doubt, after removing the condition of CR1 and getting the 10 year green card , should we make any change in the visa stamped in our indian passport. Because in the passport of my country the visa stamped shows an expiry date of july 2010. or is the green card good enough to re-enter when i travel outside the USA.

We received a Action Notice I-797C today addressed with my wifes sons name on it saying he can work and travel by just showing this document with his 2 yr green card that will expire soon.

My question is will the Ukraine let him fly back to USA with this document and a expired green card? and its not in Russian so will they understand it?

Also if he has it with him on traveling how will my wife travel and what will she show if he has the notice with him?

The I-797C looks like its for both of them addressed to him but has mother as the Principal?

It is the NOA for your son, your wife will get another NOA in her name, what is the amount of fee shown in the NOA of your son , is it the full amount you paid or just his bio fee?. I got a seperate NOA in my name showing the receipt of full amount i paid with my name and three weeks later i we got NOA for my child with her name in my c/o address and just the amount of bio paid for her.

Had my bio done today.. now i just sit around waiting again?

I am getting ready to file for i-751 to lift conditions on my wife’s green card. And I was wondering if we can go to the district court here and get married which cost about $50 or so and that should be the only proof USCIS need to prove relationship right ??... has anybody done that …or thinking about doing it ??.. I still have time to file … I cannot postmark the documents until the end of this month.

I know how you feel..my daughters NOA only showed up yesterday(same day my bio did) and that was 2 weeks after my NOA..If it makes you feel better make the info pass..it can't hurt..but I still think your bio will be here this week

will we get a seperate noa for the child( nwhen i read other posts i felt that we don't get noa for children) , my daughter is 12 yrs old and i had added her name in my I751 and paid her fee for bio(total $625).in my noa it says only my name for extension, what about her GC , her's was CR2 for 2 yrs,is the same extension letter applicable for her.
