  1. What documents did the IO asked? What did you take with you to show to him? What happened at interview?

    -----------------------

My interview was on 26th, Jan. During the interview, she asked for more document to be mailed to him. and I mailed he request on 29th, Jan. Now it has been 70 days without any notice on whether the case is approved or not. Called 1-800 number, they told me wait till it gets 90 days, then call back.

    any experiences on this?

  2. Its a strange thing they sent you a notice for the interview without a date. My opinion is you should have called the USCIS 1800 number and tell about the notice which you have received. Otherwise, take a infopass apointment and talk to a real person in your district office. I hope you have not moved or changed your address recently that make the notice being returned without delivery. I wish you will get your date for interview soon. Call and talk to them immediately.

    Hello everybody!

I'd like to join in although most of you seem to have already got done with this ordeal!! My husband filed for N-400 and we mailed the application Oct 1. USCIS recd it oct 9th and we received a letter of approval like Oct 20 I think. AFter that we received another letter in Jan 09 stating he needed to bring his Driver's licence or STate ID to his interview! But there was no date specified on that letter.

Does anyone have a clue what going on??

    DO add his timeline too-

Sent 10/1/08.. recd 10/9/08.. NOA1.. 11/1/08.. SECOND LETTER WE CANT FIGURE OUT ( ASKING TO BRING STATE ID OR DRIVERS LICENCE).. JAN 09...

I'm the worried spouse obviously :( . The application status says its at the Nebraska Sevice Center and being processed.

ANY ADVICE ?? What should we do..

    Thanks

    Meg

  3. When I went for the AOS interview the IO asked the divoice degree and we gave a copy. They already have that in their file and again when I go to the N_400 interview I have to show them the same thing? :innocent:

-----------------I could be wrong, but I don't think it's going to be a huge issue. The divorce decree isn't critical for determining whether you're eligible for naturalization. Even if you never divorced and were still married, you'd be equally as eligible for naturalization.

Hypothetically, if you had re-married after the divorce and were applying for citizenship based on the marriage to the new spouse, then the divorce would be critical, because without a valid divorce, the validity of the new marriage would be in doubt. But that's not your case.

But as I said, I could be wrong. If I'm wrong and they really want to see an original which you don't have ready at the interview, they'll delay your approval and give you a chance to get the missing document. So if you're in a hurry and don't mind spending the money, you can order the document now, but if you want to save money and don't mind a (I suspect slim) chance of a delay, you can wait and see what they say at the interview.
