  1. OK, time to write something about my case. I have been keeping in touch with USCIS by calling 1800 and last month the person transfered me to a IO who was very nice. He made a sevice request. I made INFOPASS appointments several times. Sometimes the officer made me to write a service request and an another time the officer said after sept 11 they need an extra backround check-up and said I have GC to travel why I need citizenship. It has been a year after the interview. I asked the officer when would hear a decision, do I have to make an another INFOPASS, he said I can go there every day. So, I went there again the next day. This time I got an another nice lady officer. She looked into the computer and said my file moved into a juridicator's table last week and he would make a decision soon. My FP is expiring today. I told that to the officer. She said they will send me an another FP appointment letter or oath letter. I made a service request again, she took copy of the interview result and said she was going to give this to the juridicator(whatever it is). The bottom point is I am still waiting.

  2. I went to the DO with ny 2nd interview letter. After waiting almost 2 hours a young officer called to his office and told me that I am not suppose to be there today and he has nothing to do with the application because the other officer already went thrrough it. Everything looks in order. We don't have enough emplyees here. ( I guess that's mean they don't have supervisor to look my file today?) I asked then why did they call me for interview. He said it already over 5 months after the interview and he does not know how I got a 2nd interview letter. I asked could he print an another interview letter or give me some other's day appointment? I took a day's off from work to come here. The officer said if they want something they will let me know. Wait something to get in mail.

He also asked is my hubby was there with me? I did not bring him because on the first interview the officer did not let him to come to the office and sit with me. (That was true and my hybby was not happy with that either. The IO was ignoring him on that day.) I said give me a 30 minute and let me bring him here right now.

Finally the IO said it does not matter if he is here or not because we don't have enough people to work.

He even did not ask me to sit or take a pledge. This all conversation was by standing. He finally took the file from the table and walked away. He was leading me to the door and called an another person to be interviewed.

My guess is the 2nd letter was a mistake. The file is waiting to get reviewed by supervisor and they are back logged. What do you think? Please write me......

  3. Hi Everybody,

I need your help. You were helping me for this entair immigration process. Right now, I don't what should I do. Couple of days ago I saw "YOu have been scheduled for a interview in the District offcie" online status and received the actual letter to appear for interview for 9th. I have already finished my interview in April. The decision could not be made. I remeber I ID is expaired beofre the interview and could not give attach a new one with my applycation. They did not ask my my spouse's divorice degree during the first interview. They don't have copy of that too.

I have already passed the cuvuc and English on April. Is this strang for calling for 2nd interview? What should I do? I have contacted some people in the forum personaly for advise and they did not respond. Please help. You are the GURUS. I don't have money to spend to give a lawyer.

  4. It is a mistake. After my interview the IO told me to wait for a decision. 2 days latter I saw the RFE in USCIS case status. Since then I was looking for the letter in mail box. At last I took a INFOPASS, the officer talked to the IO who interviewed me and told me that they have not made a decision and I have to wait. I asked about the RFE online status, he said that was a MISTAKE.........

    DON'T TRUST online status.

  5. I have not heard anything from the USCIS. I am still waiting. I hove I will get an answer before 120 days. Waiting..........

    -----------------------

Par - 'bout time with the biometrics - hope the rest of this process goes quick for you!!!

Yorker - have you been able to to reach a CSR at USCIS since your last post? Any status?

GTMo, Lappa & Tabta, any news???

  6. The person who interview me could not notice that I have difficulty to communicate in English language. I have to think and translate before I speak. I think IO thought that what why I am taking time to speak. English is my fifth lananguage.

Thank you Nick D, you guys really awesome giving me good advise and hope. Let us see what gonna happen.

  7. I filled the form correctly which I don't think I made a mistake. The officer is new, I think, or he need more time to make a decision. I called my home and my mother is in hospital getting better. I have arranged a good treatment by calling the hospital people and my friends who are taking care my mother since I don't have anybody at home to take care her. I am praying to god to be everyting to be alright.

NickD, Thank you so much. God bless everyone in this forum who are very helpful to me in those all immigration process.

It doesn't take luck to apply for USC, it takes work, have to completely and honestly fill out the N-400, read the M-476 manual and meet all the eligibility requirements plus gather all the evidence and other items they request, make out the check properly and mail it in.

Where the luck comes in is making your appointment on time not running into a severe traffic jam and having a good decent IO. Sounds like with the latter, you were not lucky, he/she is sitting on your application, that isn't right. But legally, he/she has 120 days to play with it. Wife's IO sat on her application, I got my senator on her with a letter of apology from the office manager and an oath appointment within three days of my call.

Not familiar with any age requirements for marriage, but believe if you are under 18 in some states, require your parents permission and if like the rest of us, you did manage to get the AOS and the I-751 without your age difference being a problem.

Depending on your IO, if you make inquiries, may just set your application further back, run into people like that, I just don't know what type of person he/she is. But with me, I will go over their head.

  8. Thankk you so much for you quick response which gives me more hope. The case status screen shows an RFE sent on the day of the interview which I did not get until today. I made several call to 1800 numbers and they told me to make an INFOPASS. When I made an INFOPASS the officer in the counter went into to inside the office with the online stauts printout to talk the actual IO who interviewed me. He came back and told me that the IO did not make a decision yet and I should wait. When I asked him how long I should wait he said he did not have an answer and the file is with the IO, so I should wait. I asked about the online status (shows RFE Sent) he said that it was a mistake, don't worry about it. What does this all mean? As fare as i remember the actual interview was not a bad one. I gave answers for everything he asked. My husband is 10 yrs oldder than me. Is that a problem in their eyes?

  9. Thank you so much for you advise Mr. NickD. I am planning to write a letter to the IO who had interviewed me. Do you think my file will be with the IO who intervieed me or with the a supervisor?

The IO did not checked the congratulation box. He did put a reason for "not making a decision" on the paper. but the following colums are checked,

    Its very important that

    1) Notify USCIS is you change your address

    2) Come to any scheduled interview

    3) Submit all requested documetns.

    4) If I want send question about my case to the officer's name given above.

    5) Go to an Oath ceremony that you are scheduled to attend.

    6) Write or notify to USCIS if can not make an scheduled oath with the N-652 copy.

I don't know what should I do. I don't have money to consult an attorney.

Please let me know what should I do.

"After the interview the IO gave me a paper saying that a decision could not be made by that time."

I assume they didn't check that Congratulations box, but the one below it, was a reason given why? A request for more evidence? Even if the Congratulations box is checked, still left hanging, maybe the supervisor didn't like the way the IO conducted the interview or any other unknown reason. You are left hanging until you finally get your oath letter.

And while you can travel with a valid green card, and even come back, you are left hanging again if you say your oath, they take away your green card, and you wonder how long and if you will get your US passport. Of course you can leave this country without it with a foreign passport, you just can't come back.

You generally can find some degree of mercy from the USCIS in the case of an emergency, would be not good if you just took off and an appointment letter comes in, you probably noticed they don't mutually agree on an appointment day, just say be there. Your main contact would be your IO, just hope you can make out his/her name, that tend to scribble it. They should point out to you before your interview to make sure you know that exact name of that person, and almost impossible to contact your field office by phone, so you have to send a letter explaining your predicament. If you are gone, and they want to see you with no response, you will get extensive delays. So try to make that contact first.

If you are in bed with your senators' office, they can do that for you, they have the phone numbers to call. Or you can try that general 800 number and hope for the best.

  10. Yes, I have the GC with me but don't you think that will make an issue for the application that pending. When we fill up the N-400 we clearly write how many days we stayes out of the country. If I travel after the interview do they have to ammend the form or do I have to tell them on the oath time? Will they denay my application because of the travelling I did after the interview? Do you ever heard something like that? I know we should not travel between interview and oath ceremony. But, what if the application is not approved and still pending after the interview?

You should be able to travel using the green-card if you still have the green-card.

  11. Hi friends,

I have a question. My N-400 interview was on April 7th and I have passed the English and Civic test. After the interview the IO gave me a paper saying that a decision could not be made by that time. I have to visit my country and see my mother who is very sick. Do I have to wait until get a decision from USCIS or can I travel and come back soon after see my mother? Is that a problem since my case is pending? What should I do?

  12. That was the same thing the IO did to my photos too. She did not ask my spouse's original birth certificate or marriage certificate. The guy who was looking through my passport said to the girl (IO) that it is the thing he does not like to do because its hard for him to figure it out all dates and stamps on passport pages. She did not see the entries and did not see the utility bill that was with him. They were talking and laughing all the time about something elese when I was signing the pages.

    ------------------------------------------------

Hopefully you hear back soon lappa.

The IO I had during my interview must have been used to the problem with the glossy pictures that you described, because she used an eraser on the pictures to get rid of some of the glossy area so that I could sign.

  13. I was going through the paper the IO gave me aver again. She clicked only 2 places that is "You passed the test of English and U.S History and Goverment", "A decision cannot yet be made about your application"

The IO asked about my job which I recently changed and she updated that info in her file. She asked all N-400 questions which I studied well before I went to the interview. Before she start the 100 question she made me sign on the side of passport size photos which was very hard because it was glossy. (not on the back of the photo) She gave me a paper to make sure my name and date of birth and asked me to sign. Then, she gave me the last page of N-400 to sign. She did not ask the tax transcipt but the guy with her asked me and I gave transcript of the last 3 years + the one I recently filed, the current utility bills and checking account statement that I got on that day's morning from mail box. She went thorugh the old photos which I have attached with my I-751 and asked about my husband's son who is living with us. The guy who was with the IO was checking my passport to make sure the trips that I made. She asked about future plan I told her we are saving some money to buy a house. She asked me if I have plan to move other state. I said I have a lot of friends and family member here so definetly we will not move to some other state. She commented about the place we stay is a nice, beatiful place. She made sure the house telephone number after she said she could not make a decision on that day. We are staying the house since we married. I thought she would call me on that day so I repeated the house number one more time. After the interview I was siting and waiting for her call at home but nothing happened. It was more like AOS interview than a N-400 interview.

Thank you so much for everybody for your support and consolation. Forgive me if I made any mistake because I cannot write in better English that this.

Wife's interview when pretty much the same way, except she did fire back all the civic question answers. Religious freedom is what she wanted, but you did pass all the tests, so that is all that matters. Going the same way in the respect that nothing negative was said, but she was told her application would be sent away for some place of a higher approval and sounds like that is what your IO was trying to tell you. It's my understanding that all these applications have to be approved by a field officer supervisor.

I firmly instructed my wife from reading this site to ask if you could say the oath the same day, and if not, when could she expect her oath letter. That gave me a commitment as a follow up that I needed to talk to my senator.

While your interview doesn't sound that positive, it also doesn't sound that negative neither, negative would be you didn't pass the tests, required more civics or English study, or the most common one, you need more evidence. In which case, they should tell you which evidence they want, utility bills seems to be the most common lately.

Did she check that box that says, you passed but awaiting final approval? If so, you should be okay.

When people say good luck at your interview, I translate that to mean not running into a traffic jam, or having an competent IO, the rest is not luck, but being well prepared. Wife had bad luck, not with the traffic, I drove her and knew different roads to get their on time, but had an incompetent interviewer, now that is bad luck.

Would have been interesting to ask questions to that guy that was observing, you have to show a degree of confidence in these or any interview, I know that is not easy, but I feel you are okay if they did not request more information. But know that checking your mail box for God only knows how long, is more stress. You may get a letter for your oath, or one more more evidence. Just have to see what happens.

  14. She did not say a reason. I think she is not capable to make a decision since she is new and young. I don't know. Her assistant also very young look like just graduted from college. If she can not make a decision why should I signed to the oath letter and photos?

  15. The IO said they can not make a decision and will let me know. I went there 30 minutes early and sate with my hubby. The officer was a young girl and she had an assistant, a young man who was watching the process. The IO went through my papers, marriage photos from the old files, asked me about my name, date of birth, when I got married etc. She asked me about my new job which I got only last week. The question she asked was,

    1) One of the amendment related to vote.

    2) If the President is no longer in the position, who will be the next Presdent.

    3) What reason coloniest came to America, I said "Freedom" but she was not satisfied and asked me what kind of freedom. I said the rest of the answers in the list.

    4) The head of the executive branch. I don't remember the rest of the questions because she was talking about other matters at the same of asking the questions. She gave a paper to read and I wrote " We pay taxes."

She asked me to sign the photos which I submitted with my application. I showed her my new set photos and she said the new one look better. So, I signed the new photos, the paper for the oath and on the bottom of the N-400 application.

Finally she said she can not make a decision right now and will let you know. She gave the paper which said I passed the test of English. History and Civic.

I don't know what will happen, I don't know what will be their decision. I am freaking out!!!!!!!!
