  1. Forget the re-entry permit and just re-enter the US using your GC. You might be questioned about your stay being over 6 months and to that you respond that you have been studying in the UK and are returning home during break. Take along proof you are studying in the UK just in case. As a LPR you can remain outside the US for up to 1 year as long as you maintain ties to the US. You might want to study this website on how to maintain your LPR status when traveling abroad.

Thanks Dave. this is encouraging as my re-entry permit expires on the 25/07 and I want to travel a month later and worried about it as I read in www.uscis.gov that

'' If you remain outside of the United States for more than 2 years, any reentry permit granted before your departure from the United States will have expired. In this case, it is advisable to consider applying for a returning resident visa (SB-1) at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. An SB-1 applicant will be required to establish eligibility for an immigrant visa and will need a medical exam. There is an exception to this process for the spouse or child of either a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or civilian employee of the U.S. Government stationed abroad on official orders. For more information on obtaining a returning resident visa, see the Department of State’s webpage on returning resident visas.

and I was not sure that the fact I was in the USA last January for a week break the absence of 2 years. when I travelled back then it was fine and readmit me to the USA as I had the re-entry permit and I told them I was studying and they did not request any evident.

Thanks anyway, and I hope things will be fine.

  2. Dear all,

I am a permanent residence since 2011. I left the US June 2012 to the UK to do my postgraduate studies and I applied for 2 years re-entry permit. During this time I went back to the US on January/2014 and everything thing was fine as I showed my re-entry permit and they reactivated my Green Card. I am still in the UK studying and my re-entry permit will expire on the 25th of this month, so I need to apply for another re-entry permit.

My question is that do I need to leave back to the USA before my current re-entry permit expire which in a couple of weeks and apply for a new one, or can I wait for few months and travel in Oct/2014?

does the fact that I was in the US last January give me the flexibility to stay another few months (less a year than my last travel to the US)?

it is difficult to travel back now during my research and wait in the US for few week to do a new re-entry permit but can in Oct.

    facts,

11/06/2012 left US with re-entry permit to study

25/01/2014 went back to the US for a week. Green card reactivated in the port entry.

    25/07/2014 re-entry permit expires

    Thanks you

  4. Ok, so my fiance's 1st interview was denied. He was given a 221 G but does not say why he was denied, again, he answered all questions, never hesitated and interview lasted a little bit over 1 hour. Again, he did not miss a single question. He was not given a reason, was only told after being given a white form with a check mark on the box-221G, no reason stated and told that it was going to be send back for review to the STATES. I am devastated because although our age is quite a factor does not mean relationship is not viable, true... What do I have to do? Do I need to be sent the NOID of no????? I already emailed consulate (of course, more than likely no response) and will call 7-14-11, any suggestions?

It happened with my friend about a month a go, but for his IR-1 visa at Jerusalem Consulate. They gave him a letter stating the same things and told him that hey are going to sent his case back to the STATES. His wife got angery sent few emails but no replays and then she sent a harsh email to the Consulate and she address the officer who intrerviewed her husband, she asked them to pass her email to the officer. Finally the officer replyed to her and asked for more proof of ongoing relation which she did, and then her husband got her visa. They did not sent the case back the USA for a review. I do not know if this will help because it is a different type of visa and different consulate.

Also, Me and my wife used to send emails but we used to not get clear answers, but later we started addressing the Cheif of the visa section or the officer who interviewed me, and we did get a better answers. May be you can try this.

  5. My advice. Walk around and find the ones you like, then show them to your fiance and disappear. He will get them at a much better price alone than if you are with him. We have done it this way since my first visit in 2003. They won't haggle as low with an American as with a native.

    Debra

We were doing the same thing mostly when we wanted to buy something expensive. Once My brother-in-law and sister-in law came to visit us here in Palestine, and my brother-in-law saw a backgammon, Syrian Stylish board, in Beitleham and as it is a tourist city, the shop owner asked for 150$ when he saw three Americans with me, but we did not buy it. I returned back alone after few days and bought it for 30$.

Give it try to save money :) May be it will work in Moroco

  6. what goes around, comes around, right?

Why did she start drinking a lot after she worked hard to bring you to the US? She supposed be happy to accomplish this for her husband. I think she has discovered or realized something about you which made her start drinking more, and you instead of helping her, you are asking to get married from another woman after the divorce . I smell something fishy too!!

  7. hi evryone my help from my wife.i have big problem with me my life really so bad her b4 i met her she's was very nice with me but now............so i dont know what to doo she drink alot and to meet men in bars i think she cheat me. i want to divorce her i have been her one year. i have right now just gread card, so if i divorce what will happen .they will take me back to my country or what thanks Majid

Sorry to about your marriage difficulities.

if she started drinking a lot recently, may be she needs your help. May be there is something going on with her and she needs someone to stand by her. It seems you are not sure about the idea she is cheating on you. You stated that you have been in the US for just one year, and intercultural marriage takes long time and work from both partenrs to get over the cultural differences. I have been living with my wife 4 years now and we still working on our cultural differences. Divorce should be your last choice.

I have read several posts in the VJ forum about getting divorce on a conditional green card, and all stated as Penguin_ie said you need to show that you entered the marriage in a good faith. But I feel if you are going toward the divorce, you should have a professional advice, lawyer, as you are not familiar with the system in the US, just assuming, like me :) You do not not want to lose your green gard.

    wish you luck,

    Best

  8. If someone had said that Palestinian terrorists "killed millions" of Israelis, you'd be all over them like flies at a picnic.

However, you have no issue with the statement that Israel apparently is "torturing millions".

BTW, I am the one who said 'Torturing million'

4.7 Millions Palestinian refugees isn't torturing millions. Jail 2,568,555 Million people in the West Bank by building the Speration Wall around them isn't torturing million. The Nazi regime did not last decades torturing and occupying lands, but The Israeli cleansing still going on since 63 years ago. :bonk:

Many Israeli People got the point and there are many Israeli peace activists in the West Bank protest againts their occupation but you did not get that there is cleansing going on.

  9. Arabs will call it "occupation" for as long as Israel exists. You really think

they'll stop once they get their 22 percent of historic Palestine, agreed to in Oslo?

Or any percentage, for that matter, other than 100 percent?

What do you call it? Security?

Let them call it whatever they want, Freedom of Speech!! Isn't it? Hold on!! Arabs do not have freedom, but Israel has to say whatever they want and occupy whatever land they like!!

*whisper* :secret: Israel, do not give Palestinian their own country because Arabs will keep calling you OCCUPATION which you are!! Keep torturing millions of them, occupying their lands, control their movements and increase the number of Palestinian refugee by a couple more millions!! :bonk:

  10. Hopefully the Israeli's and the Palestinians can learn from other democratic Arab nations....wait did I just say that? Are there any democratic Arab nations? I can't think of any. Here maybe you can help me...name some please. I mean out of all the Arab country's there must be at least a few democratic Arab country's...well maybe just one?

    Israel+democracy= occupation :bonk:

You changed the subject, anyway, can you name one non-democratic Arab country!! still occupying other people's land? Ops! sorry the DNA according to you prove that this land is just for Israeli  and Palestinian don't exist. Means there is no occupation :bonk:

Definition of democracy nowadays; occupying other countries other's people's lands and singing for peace

Please read the history from reliable sources.

    Cheers!!!

  11. First off I want to state that I believe the Palestinians should have a state. With that said they and the rest of the Arabs brought this upon themselves. People can cry about the Jewish diaspora immigrating to Israel, but it's a proven fact that those people have ties to Israel starting with their DNA. Now when Israel was declared a state, Arab nations such as the North African nations took it upon themselves to massacre thousands of Jews, and then steal everything they had. Libya is a prime example of this.

You know how to read a map? I hope so for the fact Arabs have a very short and selective memory. One thing Iv'e learned is never gamble if you can't handle losing. The Arabs gambled more than once, and they lost.

    "Israeli Declaration of Independence"

serious!!DAN!! what About the Romans?? They were in Palestine too.

  12. You have pain, suffering, and anguish? I believe it.

We have it in spades in our communities as well. You have no monopoly on suffering.

Radical terrorists from within your community are responsible for the death and destruction and mutilation of thousands of Israeli lives. Here are just a few.

Both of our communities and peoples have suffered. Some of us want a lasting solution with two states side by side and an end to the devastation. In the midst of the anti-Israel and anti-Zionist attacks polluting this board, I posted a few videos last night. Of the people and their land, of the love and the ties expressed between Israelis and Israel. Beautiful songs, songs that make me wistful and sentimental when I hear them.

Out of curiosity, do you have such videos and songs? Songs of the eternal love of the Palestinians for their homeland, songs of joy and longing for peace? Or are all your videos militaristic war cries?

63 years of suffering under war, occupation, prison, refugees, illegal settlements, 10s of thousands being killed aren't enough to show the Palestinian eternal love for their Homeland??

Sing for peace while you are being slaughtered!!!

out of your curiosity, you do not need to ask for such songs. You can find them all over the internet for you surf ' palestinian songs for peace or soever.

There are people from both sides sing for peace together too.

    The Jewish-Arab (Palestinian) song for peace;

    Sorry for the inconvience

  14. My ex isn't from MENA, but we had a similar issue because his mom and a maid did everything (we divorced for unrelated issues). So my first question would be, does he actually know what needs doing and how to do it? He may just not realise what your cleanliness standards or priorities are, and/ or time gets away from him (so easy when sitting at the computer!). Could you make a list? Ie Monday: sweep and vacuum. Tuesday: Bathroom. etc... you can add some stuff you do together or you do too, so it doesn't look like a "you MUST do" list.

I totally agree with Penguin_ie. My wife has a high standared regarding housework. At the beginning, I used to do nothing or close to her standared, but She taught me what she expect and started doing lists for houswork which makes things easier. After awhile I found myself enjoying cooking but hate cleaning the dishes, so she started listing things that I like and she took over cleaing the dishes even I use every tool in the kitchen to cook  . NOw I tried my best to do my chore to avoid being lectured like a teenager :bonk:B-). But, She promised to take over some of the things I hate doing them when we go to live in the US. So, I think you should start writing lists and divid the housework over the week even everyday 2 things at the beginning. Start with simple things until he get used to it.

Him getting a job and you have 1 instead of 2 jobs would help the situation.

I am a Palestinian, and our mothers did everything regarding houswork and even forbiden us to do anything. So go for it step by step.

Hope you solve this problem soon.

    Best,

  15. Dear all,

Currently,I received my IR-1 visa, and I am going to travel to the USA soon. At the same time, I received a full scholarship to do my MA in a university in Scotland, almost a year program, starting September 26 2011. Do you think leaving the US for study would jeopardize my US residency? We read that I can apply for Re-Entry permit ahead before I travel to the UK which I can show in the airport on the way back.

We are going to see an immigrant lawyer, but I would like to read your input in this issue.

    Salam

  17. Long time I have not written here.

After almost 4 years with immigration process, I received my IR1 visa!!! I cannot believe it is done!!!

At the beginning, we applied for K-3 visa and after more than 2 years under administrative processing, we switched to the IR-1 visa. During my IR-1 visa, the Chief of the visa section at the Jerusalem Consulate, was shocked when he found out, according to him, that nobody was working on my case for 2 years because my case was complicated. My wife was with me, and she was angry. He promised to work on my case to help us, and actually he did. He worked on my case, and they were contacting us regularly. After a week from my IR-1 interview, they asked me to send my passport which I did. after 2 weeks, we called DOS, and we found out that my IR-1 visa was issued in April 7th,2011, so we emailed the consulate about this, but they said my case under AP again. At the same day, I received a call from the consulate to have another interview, and turned out it was with the Homeland Security Office there which I attended. During the interview, they asked me to let my wife contact them to schedule an interview for her. After 2 days of my wife's interview, I received my passport with IR-1 visa!!!!!

    Long Journey!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all.

    Wish luck for the others.

  18. So back in September of 2010, my husband had his interview in East Jerusalem. His interview went ok, but they put him in AP. After about four months the consulate called my husband telling him everything was approved and to send his passport. He sent in his passport and within 2 days got a phone call from the same lady telling him he needed to be back in AP and they would send him his passport back without a visa. It has now officially been 9 months of AP, and still waiting. I have contacted my lawyer, my senator, I called DOS, and spoke with the consulate via email and all the same, his case is still undergoing AP and we need to wait. Is there anything I can do?? Anything I haven't done that can be done?? Any help would be great, cause being stuck in limbo isn't an easy task...

I was under AP for a long time (years)at the Jerusalem Consulate, and I recieved my visa a week ago. But, There is a new chief for the visa section there, and I noticed in the last few weeks that few people that I know received their immigrants visas beside me. It seems he makes things faster. It is just an observation.

Keep emailing the Consulate once in a couple of weeks and address the Consular officer who interviewed your husband or the visa section chief there. That's how we did it recently. Whenever we emailed the Consulate, we ask to pass our email to the officer who interviewed me which we got better answers because the one who is checking the consulates' emails will just check the case on the system, but if they passed your email to the consular officer, may be he will notice how long you have been in PA. It just an idea and it worked with us.

Hopefully your husband visa will get through soon.

    Best Luck
