  1. Just to let everyone know, they sent me a copy of Alejandra's letter. Dated 9/24 and i got it today 10/5

it basically says you can come for an open invitation from 8am to 10am except for Mexican and American holidays, and immigrant visa administrative days (last friday of each month).

    please see

    http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...visa-forms.html

    follow all instructions...blah blah blah.

Nothing else was included. The good news is that I don't need to wait for Alejandra to get the letter, or to go have it printed.

  2. Here's a checklist I've put together for our trip to Juarez....on a K1. Am i missing anything?

    Cover Letter

    - I-134

    - Statement from my Employer regarding Salary

    - Statement of Account from my Bank.

    - Statement of Account from my Bank.

    - Statement of Life Insurance from my Employer

    - Statement of Life Insurance from Insurance Agent

    - printed online Statement of 401k Account

    - Mortgage information.

    - Copy of my 2009 tax return (fiscal year 2008)

    - Copy of 2 most recent pay stubs

    - Letter certifying intent to marry (Petitioner)

    - Copy of Birth Certificate (Petitioner)

    - Copy of US Passport (Petitioner)

    - Copy of Divorce Decree (Petitioner)

    - I-797C

    - I-797

    - Proof of ongoing relationship – photo album

    - Proof of ongoing relationship – copies of boarding passes, bus tickets, passport stamps

    - Proof of ongoing relationship – Vonage phone bills

    - Proof of ongoing relationship – copy of Engagement Ring receipt

    - original docs included in 129f packet

    -$131 for consulate

    -$165 for medical

    -$ for DHL

    Beneficiary

    Passport

    Birth Certificate

    Passport photos (2-4)

    Interview Letter

    Two DS-156 documents unsigned

    Two DS-156k documents unsigned

  3. I guess my next biggest concern is safety. We are staying at the Holiday Inn. Is it safe to walk the 1-2 blocks to the consulate or should we use the shuttle service? Not to mention the border crossing.

My fiance is a beautiful, petite, mexicana, and I myself am 6-3 240lbs and bald, so we don't exactly blend too well. While I am a Black Belt in karate and could certainly defend myself if confronted....true victory would be avoiding a confrontation altogether.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

  4. I called the Consulate number just to ask a few questions..

    Q. Do we need to wait for the letter/packet?

    A. No, you can go to the information window with a passport, tell them they already mailed out your letter and they can print you a new one to take to the medical exam.

    Q. How many days do I need to schedule?

    A. Buy open ended tickets. If you can do the Medical and interview like Mon-Tues, he said it takes 1-3 days for DHL to deliver the visa, and they CANNOT send it to your home. You have to wait for it in Juarez. (That sucks).

    Q. Does she need vaccionations?

    A. Yes, the medical examiner will tell her which ones. I thought K-1's don't need it, but whatever.

I will stay at the Holiday Inn right next to the embassy!

  5. OK, so now I'm super excited while trying not to be excited. I called the NVC (202-663-1225) and the lady (who was very friendly) said our packet 3 had been sent out by regular mail within the last day or two!!!

I told her the Juarez embassy just last night told me to call back in 3 weeks. Her reply was "that's why you call us and not them".

I SURE HOPE SHE'S RIGHT!!!!! AND I HOPE THE MAIL SERVICE DOESN'T SCREW ANYTHING UP!!!!!
