  1. Hello Everyone,

so last week I had my first OBGYN appointment to get a new prescription for birth control (I had brought a 1 year supply from my home country, which now runs out). I used Yasminelle in Germany, in the US known as YAZ. The doctor asked me if I wanted to continue using this product, I told her yes. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription they gave me not the YAZ, but a generic called Gianvi. I payed 120 Dollars for a 3 months worth of birth control. NUTS! In my homecountry I would have paid 120 Euros for 1 year, that is about 150 Dollars. Why is birth control here so much more expensive? I do have health insurance, I am with United Healthcare. I asked the pharmacist how much it would be without insurance, he said it would be over 200 Dollars.

I am just shocked about the prices here. Plus, why do they give generics here? How much more expensive are the brands then?

Are there any cheaper ways of birth control?

  2. Idealy, they would like you to use it in emergency cases where you obviously can not wait for them to finish with your case but majority of people use it for "everyday reasons". I went to London on an AP and no one at the POE asked me what kind kind of emergency. I would have been screwed since I just went there to hang out with friends and family for christmas.

    Hey,

my husband booked the tickets already and then he took a look at the AP and freaked out! He always freaks out about the little things, lol, so I needed to find someone that knew better. Thank you. I knew I was right, he just wouldn't believe me! He is calm now.

  3. I agree "It probably won't matter" is true. It's also true that you can read it to mean it's only for emergencies. I think this is one of those technicality laws - usually doesn't have any effect until someone decides to throw the book at you.

We had another long discussion on another thread because other wording regarding the AP talks about "emergent" circumstances, which some people take as merely unplanned (at the time), but not quite emergency....

There are other reasons that you shouldn't plan to travel before you get your green card - what if the interview gets scheduled just when you are gone - what a hassle to try to get all of your flights and other plans rearranged!

The thing is I filed for my GreenCard in November 2009. So many November files have gotten their GreenCard in the mail already, some of them didn't even go to an interview. I am concerned why I have not gotten mine. I am planning to travel in August and I really hope it will be get to me until then. Thanks for the reply. :)

  4. Hi Everyone,

is the Advanced Parole only for emergency travel? Or can I also use it to travel and visit my family in my homecountry???

    My AP states following:

Presentation of the original of this document prior to 1/18/2011 allows a Customs and Border Protection Inspector at a port-of-entry to parole the named bearer, whose photograph appaears hereon, into the United States based upon urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.

Do I need proof at the POE that it was an emergency? Anybody ever had problems w/ that?

What is a significant public benefit?

THANKS FOR ANY ANSWERS IN ADVANCE!!!

  5. USCIS seems to be very inconsistent on this; sometimes accepting the DS-3025, sometimes requiring the I-693. The I-693 is for the complete medical. It contains five parts, part 1 is your info, part 2 is vaccination, part 5 is doctor's signature/confirmation. You need these parts completed (they are basically the vac records transcribed from DS-3025 onto the I-693). It has to be done by a civil surgeon.

Now I understood! I think this whole USCIS stuff, I don't get it until I have read it at least several times. So they are only interested in the vaccine stuff and I don't have to worry about all the other stuff in Part 2. That sounds good, I will call a surgeon tomorrow and see who will transcribe it for me.

    Thank you!

  6. I had already sent in my AOS package with just the DS-3025. We went to Family Health in Wautoma, WI today and had my I-693 vacc suppl. transcribed just in case we get an RFE. I had to have the H1N1 shot, he said it was recommended so I went ahead with it. Also, there was a discrepency with my mumps shot from years ago so I opted to have it again. It was cheaper then having the blood test to check for it. The whole appt cost $82 bucks. Not bad really, I thought it was going to be much worse. We got home an hour ago and my biometrics appt letter was in the mailbox. YIPPEE! Its not till January 8th in Milwaukee but at least its a date...website has no updates on my file at all.

The H1N1 shot is required for the I-693????? Really?? I couldn't find anything that said that in the form itself!!!! My husband will freak out if this is true, he doesn't want anyone from his family to get the shoot, because of the risk. He works as a information specialist for a health care deparment, so he has heard a lot of bad stories already...scary stuff!

  7. Hello everyone,

I got a RFE for my Adjustment of Status. It says:

"The Form I-693 yoiu submitted is incomplete. Part 2, Section 5 on either Page 3 or Page 4, is blank or missing. You failed to submit prober documentation of immunization for the Form I-485 applicant.

You need to submit a proberly completed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. The vaccination record must be completed by a civil surgeon who has been designated by USCIS."

So, this is the first time I am actually hearing about this form. Is this filled out by the docs from my home country, when I had the medical there? Was that in the brown envelope that I had to give to the immigration offficer when I entered the US? I did sent in my copy of the DS-3025 with my AOS application. I have read about transcribing this form at a surgeons office, which sounds not too bad. But I am wondering: How can they transcribe it, when the surgeon who does the transcription does not know about the results of the HIV test, the chest X ray, mental disorders etc. ??? Because the DS 3025 only talks about the vaccinations.

Also I am wondering if my husband should just get in touch with his congressman, to see if they just lost the papers.

Hope anyone can help me explain!

  8. To the OP - just to clarify - the envelope you're referring to is indeed the one that says "Do Not Open" correct? (I know that may sound obvious but have seen people not open the envelope sent to them from the Embassy/Consulate at all - not realizing their passport and visa were inside and that there was yet another envelope inside.)

Yes, yes, I opend the big envelope, and found a piece of paper with the information for the Visa and the AOS, my passport with included Visa and the brown envelope which says that I am not allowed to open.

  9. @Meiandra: Herzlich Willkommen! Ich dachte man muss Medical hinter sich haben, bevor man zum Interview kann, weil die medical Sachen doch zum embassy geschickt

    werden

Wuensche allen Muettern ein Happy Mother's Day!!!! :-)

    Lasst euch verwoehnen!!! :-)

    Happy Mother's Day!

Hey, genau dasselbe dachte ich auch, deshalb war ich sehr verwundert als ich Packet 4 las. Naja, jetzt schreib ich dem FRA Konsulat mal ne email, nur um auf Nummer sicher zu gehen. Mein Verlobter meint ja "You gotta excatly do as they tell you!"
