Funny, so did I today. Except it's not funny, and I'm pissed off. I bet it's for the medical because I can't think of anything else that was missing, and I'm pretty particular about these things (in my case anyways... did you get your vaccinations transcribed by a CS?). Let's keep tabs on it and see how we both do. lol Good luck
I did get the vaccinations transcribed by a CS, specifically to avoid an RFE! I wonder if I forgot to check a box or something! I was so ####### about the whole application! lol. I'll keep you updated!

Well, I received an email from USCIS stating that I have an RFE for my AOS. I really feel I was thorough with my application, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what they want. Hope it's something simple!

My interview went really good! Pretty easy, and I should get my green card in 2-3 weeks!
Wonderful news!

I just received an email from USCIS! EAD card production ordered! My AP was also "touched" for the first time! Today is a good day!

In a weeks time, before my I-94 expired, I had been to the SSA three times and the DMV twice. The DMV wanted to help me, but they couldn't verify my name in the system as my SS said my maiden name and my NOA papers said my married name. They even told me to see if the SSA would change my name in the system but not give me a card... but the SSA manager would not do so. SSA will not do anything for me until I have my EAD or Greencard in hand. I dread going there for the 4th time.... but once that's done, the DMV stuff should be a breeze! The appointments in Orlando usually are open for the next week, and when I went without appointment, I waited 45 mins... not too bad. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Well... I received my EAD on Wed afternoon and went to SS office on Thursday at 10 am. I filed in my application at home. At the SS took a number... Wait for the call... The gril asked me to show my immigration documents (they take only originals of everything) and I gave her my passport, EAD and the applicationI made at home. Five minutes of data entry and she say "it will arrive at your address in two weeks"... And that was all... I asked a couple of people and they say it will take less
Same with Driver license... I have my New Mexico Driver license and went to check... They did ask for lots of thing inlcuded your SS... I said I didnt have any... Then picture and again "it will arrive in the mail in 30 days"... They took my NM DL and gave me a note as a temporary DL.
Smoother than that... Baby butt
Let's hope that when I get my EAD or Greencard that it will go just as smooth. I had a really bad time trying to get this all done months ago, but the SSA wouldn't budge on changing my name with just my NOA. (But, the same office did it for a friend in the same process... nice.... ) My Ontario DL will expire on July 10th, so if I am able to go the SSA the next day after getting my EAD or GC, perhaps I'll be able to go the DMV the day after with the letter. I was told it takes 24 hours for the SSA's change to show up in the system so the DMV can then verify everything.

Everything went smooth
SS and Driver Licence done... Now just waiting for my adorable mail man!!!
Hey there! So you were able to go to the SS office just days after receiving your EAD, and you had no issues? Your name was already in the system?

My Dad called me today to let me know about it. He works in downtown Ottawa. His building was evacuated. My sister works at a school and though the kids told her it was definitely an earthquake, she told them to settle down as she thought it was just some construction outside. Ha!

I got another touch on my I-485 today too! That's 4 touches since last Thursday. Are they playing hot potato with our files? haha!
-
I got another touch today too on the AOS. Is anyone else seeing touches on their AOS but not necessarily on the EAD or AP?
I haven't had any touches on my AP, and my EAD was only touched once after my biometrics appointment. But, I have had 3 touches on my I-485.
-
I got a touch in the last hour too! That's a touch on the 17th, 18th and now the 22nd!
-
How do you check to see if your case has been touched?
You sign into your account at www.uscis.gov and check the last day your application was "updated." If you haven't already signed up for updates on the official site, it's fairly easy. You will need your receipt numbers and go to the link that states: "Sign up for Case-Updates." You then input your receipt numbers and they will be organized in what they call your portfolio. Hope this helps!

I had another touch today and it's only 10am EST, they must start early at CSC
I just checked again and I have another touch for today!

I had a touch on my AOS yesterday as well!

Can I complain about my Driver's License and SSN name change now?? I went to SS office to change my name to my married name in April and they couldn't verify the name change until USCIS approves. I went this morning with my brand new EAD and they can't verify my EAD either! I have to wait AGAIN! In the meantime, no DL until I get name changed on SSN! I'm pulling my hair out as we speak! There is practically no public transport here and if there is one, I haven't seen it! So if I get invited for a job interview, how am I going to get there? Hubby works!
Congrats everyone on good changes in your journey!
That happened to me as well! I have a friend who was actually able to changer her SSN before her EAD, but after 3 visits to the Orlando SSA and speaking with the officer manager, they wouldn't do it for me. I hope my EAD gets here before my Ontario DL expires on July 10th!!! The DMV can't do anything for me because my SSN name does not match with all my AOS papers. Fun, fun, fun!
-
I still don't know if I'm going to bother doing that... though I suppose it's better to do it now than worry about it down the line.
Oh, the good 'ol Orlando SSA... If you procrastinate, we can always have an SSA date and meet up there! LOL. At least the security guy is really nice.

speaking of emails and txts. how long after they receive the aos package do you start getting them? according to fedex they received the package on tuesday. my cheque has not passed yet, and i had to borrow money cuz of the stupid ipass auto refilling grrrr. sigh dont even have money for dog food so i have to cut them down a bit on portion size and add in extra treats. barely had enough for gas this am for david to get to work.
this totally sucks..i feel so freaking useless.. living near chicago is stupid expensive, and i'm still trying to figure out how they say davids income is enough for 4 ppl in the i-864, they need to revise it i think..cuz im realizing depending on where you live it should be different.
hmm maybe this shoulda gone in the vent thread ...doh!
Kimbear, I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. It's only temporary and things will get better!
As for your question, I know they received my package on April 18th (Mon) and I received e-mails and texts on April 23rd (Fri). I'm afraid I don't remember how quickly they cashed the cheque.

Did you get a notice saying it was transferred to Orlando? Cause that's what mine says and it's still hanging out in Cali somewhere.
Hmm... what's written in my previous quote is truly everything the message said. It didn't specifically say Orlando, but I guess I just assumed as it's my local office. Also, when my file got transferred to CSC, I got an email and later an official notice stating California specifically. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hey guys!
I just got an email today from USCIS. It reads:
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.
The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.
If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.
As my file was transferred from the Chicago Lockbox to CSC and now to my local office in Orlando, does this mean I may get an interview, or have others received this and not had an interview? I'd love to get your take!

Hey guys,
When you sent in your AOS packet, did you send in a photocopy of your certified marriage certificate, or an original certified marriage certificate? I wonder if that's what the RFE is for....
