  1. Trying not to think about our interview. It isn't even scheduled yet, and I'm already terrified!!! :(

Watch this video, it should take a way a lot of the uncertainty. When Sarah had her J1 interview last year, she said this was the exact process she went through, and from what people on the board have posted, this is exactly what the London interview experience is like even for immigrant visas:

As soon as I get my speakers working, I'll watch that. Thanks so much!

Does this video apply for people applying in the UK though?

Yes, the video was produced by the London embassy itself and basically guides you through all the London specifics. The video says it describes the process for non-immigrant visas, but I think the only difference in this process between immigrant vs non immigrant visas is that the immigrant visas are numbered differently. That's it.

  2. So the final tally of what is going to be sent to the embassy:

    DS230 (1 copy)

    DS156 (2 copies)

    DS156K (2 copies)

    DS157 (2 copies)

IV-15 checklist (does not include birth certificates, etc.) (1 copy)

Does this look right to you? This is what I interpret the IV-15 checklist instructions to mean.

Looks good. One of those- is an online form that you need to complete online and print bc a barcode will be generated. Make sure you go back through the forms starting from the bottom. This way you will catch mistakes easier that trying to glance from top to bottom. GL!

Excellent, thanks. Based on this info, Sarah just posted packet 3 today and called Knightsbridge and scheduled her medical for 9/7/09. It's nice to feel progress. Also, how long did it take from posting packet 3 to receiving the interview letter? Your timeline has an interview date but not a packet 4 date.

  4. Also, another question about the IV-15 checklist: Does it need to be mailed with the forms (DS230, etc.)? I know that the supporting documents are not to be mailed but it was unclear if the checklist itself needed to be included.

We sent the checklist in with our documents and were issued an interview date in the same time it would have taken to get packet 4! Check out our timeline...

How did you get an interview date without packet 4? I thought packet 4 was the interview letter (which you need to bring to the embassy on interview day).

  5. Vik had his interview last night... His medical and everything was good. They took his fingerprints and collected his passport. The officer said they had to do some computer checks, but that was all... Does this mean he was approved? Please lemme know... kinda freaking out. Also, how long would it take for him to have his visa in hand if he has been approved? (Interview was August 25 at 8:30am)

Everything I've been reading suggests that's an approval if they still have his passport. Congratulations!

  6. Call DOS and ask them if packet 3 has been generated yet. The embassy will sometimes print everything up and then it'll sit in a pile until they feel like mailing it. As long as it's been generated you can send in the forms.

    (202)663-1225 press 1, 0

Update: According to the state department, packet 3 was sent on August 10th. Looks like the posties lost it :(

At least now we have our state department case number so we can book her medical and send the forms in.

Also, holy ####### that is the longest recorded menu in history. They read off about 5-6 phone numbers and websites before I gave up and just pushed 1, 0.

  7. Has London been taking forever to send people their packet 3s? We got our NOA2 on 7/22, NVC shipped to London on 8/4, and then nothing since. I looked at some other timelines and the historical averages suggested about 10 days between NVC ship and packet 3, but I don't know how accurate that average has been as of late.

  8. I just checked my number online (was on the back of the check copy) and it appears that I have NOA1 electronic copy too. Does this inaccuracy in the system only apply to NOA1s or NOA2s as well?

Yah I have been told not to go by the online Notifications on USCIS as they are not as accurate as one would like to believe. I was told that I would probably get my NOA2 in the mail before it shows online....

    Kelly :)

Just was told the cheque cleared yesterday, we now have our case number, but of course as its new nothing in the system yet to know if they sent the NOA1 out today. Will update you when we get it :D

Usually they put the cases in the system immediately. However, I think that there has been problems with the system online lately, because no one is getting their approval (NOA2) emails, and then getting the hard copy in the mail. So you may or may not get put in the online system soon, but you should recieve the paper copy faily quickly My NOA1 was the 15th of Jan. and I got my paper copy the 23rd.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I had heard a few people saying they weren't in the system yet, but it could also be that maybe I read one of the numbers off the back of his cheque wrong. Either way, no panicing, they took our money so even though its a small step, its one step closer :D

  9. I will soon be filing the I-129F for my fiancee who lives in the UK. After we started looking into the vaccination requirements, we got a bit stuck. She's 22, and thus she is required to get the HPV vaccine. Where the complication comes in, is that it's given in 3 doses over the course of 6 months, and when she called the facility in London that would administer the vaccine, they refused (despite having the money to pay) and said they would only do it at the K-1 medical.

My question is), does she need to have completed all three doses before filing AoS? If she gets dose 1 in the UK near the time of her visa, she'd come over soon after and we'd have to marry and file AoS in 90 days, which wouldn't be enough time in between doses to get them all in. Has anyone else run into this issue? If the London facility didn't refuse we'd have no problem because we're assuming the I-129F will take 6 months anyway.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Along these lines, if I'm submitting all pages of my passport as evidence of my citizenship, will my fiancee need to bring my original passport to the interview? I'm also using passport stamps as evidence of meeting, so I think I may have answered my own question.

no, your passport is not needed.... evidence of meeting has been decided.

Thanks for that. Does this also apply with ongoing relationship evidence? We plan on getting together in Canada for a few days while her K-1 is pending (to avoid US border difficulties). Would copies of those pages be okay? I can go get certified copies of my birth certificate and mail them off no problem but I'd rather not be without my passport.
