Thanks for the update. Although most of this thread is several years old, it was a big help. My wife just did her medical this morning at the Greenberg Clinic. She says that it was very professional and the staff was polite and outgoing. She had brought documentation from her GP about her vaccination history, so she was not required to take any. She got her sealed envelope and x-ray to take to her interview on 10/3. Fee was $100 US. Thanks again for all the info !

I'm glad that my thread was helpful to your wife. It's been years since I went though this and now I don't remember much, or I just don't want to go back and remember these times. Hi all VJ fellas,

my card was approved Feb 25. I received the letter in the mail today. GC will be sent in the next 60 days Until today USCIS.gov website has not updated my status yet, nor have I received text or email (although I have subscribed). It says my new classification symbol is IR1. Date of decision is 2/25/12. The letter has been printed or approved by the DHS/USCIS JF Kennedy Fed Bldg - Boston. So it's a local office, not the Vermont office. But was mailed from the Vermont office, as I see on the envelope. It's surprising they have approved my GC on Saturday??? They work on Saturday??? And the envelope has been mailed on Monday. In two days I'd hit 9 months since I started the process. 9 months?

Credit cared and bank statements definitely do count. Be sure to include at least one of each for each quarter you have been married - they need to see a continuity of co-mingled financial affairs. Are you joint holders on the Credit Card? You can get your name added if you are not. Include credit card statements if you are showing where both of you have made charges on the same account.

Include copies of all of the health insurance coverage, perhaps the co-pays paid for the baby's birth (if born in the US), car insurance coverage for the both of you (are there loans on the one car that you drive in both your names?) What about vehicle registration for your car but showing him making payments for that vehicle. If some of these payments occur on credit cards, highlight the amounts on the copies you provide to show them.

You don't have to have both received medical care or dental care (although that is a good one) but showing that the coverage comes through the same plan is important.

Is the mortgage payment coming out of the joint account? If so, provide a copy of that statement showing the payment with the payment highllighted.

You can also include affidavits from people who know you as a family/couple indicating how they know you and providing details of their knowledge. These should be signed in front of a Notary Public and include full contact information for the person writing the statement.

How is your child registered at the DayCare? Perhaps a statement from them listing both of you are parents who have permission to pick up the child is also good.

Anyway, think creatively - you will find things you haven't thought of that may work. You want to share that you are living in the same address, that you are presenting yourself as a couple/family socially and personally, that you are sharing financial assets and liabilities and that you live your lives as a married couple.

These are all things I've thought about, but just because of the ROC we do not want to change anything in our financial situation. He works, I work. I've always wanted to be independent so when we got married I never wanted to get into his money stuff like CCs or bank accounts. He never thought it's necessary to include me on utility bills or mortgage, because he's been and still is paying all these bills at home. So both of us have our own CCs, I had a collection on my credit report (I'm in a process of taking T-mobile to court now for that) and he thought that could screw up his great credit history, so for that reason we do not participate in each others CCs or bank stuff. But he did take a loan last year so I can pay off my car. I'm thinking this one is going to the immigrations Nothing is joint in our family, except my bank account, which he doesn't use, unless depositing money in the savings acct for our baby. I do have a doc from day care where him and his mother are listed as the two people allowed to pick up our son and for emergency.

Also, I will probably send a copy of my BabyTalk magazine

how about drivers licenses with the same address on them. You can add bills that are in your name and bills in his name showing same address. How about Irs transcripts?

Well, of course we do have the IRS transcripts, and DLs both on our address, but I do not have any bills paid in my name showing our address unless you count CCs and monthly bank statements.

My concern was about the utility bills and mortgage and I thought anything else wouldn't be enough. We will attach a copy of his CC statement showing he paid for the baby's and mine plain tickets to visit my family, also the membership he bought me for the pool, and maybe a receipt from the jewelry store where he bought me a golden bracelet for my first mother's day... that's the big stuff, I don't think I can find receipts for small things he got for me... and few pics with his family will be sent as well.

Do we need to get a letter from his parents saying anything about our marriage?

The joint bank account is good. Are you on his (or is he on your) employer's insurance plan for health, life, or dental?

He's on my bank account, he has signed few checks to the day care through this account, but that's all about it, he never uses it, unless to deposit checks into the savings account connected to the checking, which savings acct we save money for our baby. We do have mutual health ins through his employer, mutual dental bills for going to the dentist at the same day, no life ins, but he's on my car ins, while I'm not on his, because he has a big truck and a sports car which I do not drive and do not want him to pay higher ins for that reason. That's pretty much what we have...

The time for ROC is coming soon and I started looking at VJ guides as what we could send for evidence for my ROC. I realized we don't have any utility bills or mortgage/rent together, since my husband has had the house for a good 15 years now, and we never even questioned if he should put me on the bills since he's paying them off.

Any other suggestions for evidence (I read that a child birth certificate is not enough with few pics only). We do have a joint bank account but mostly I'm using it. My husband doesn't deposits money in it very often.

What do we do?

The only reason he had the GC with him that day was because he visited his lawyer to file paperwork for ROC. Anyway, thanks all for the answers.

For those who are concerned, his lawyer told him he doesn't have to call the immigrations and do not have to file for a new one, since he just filed for ROC the previous day and he's all set.

Does anyone know about the intervew in us embassy in sofia,is it really every second tuesday of the month or can be any time in the month?

I believe NVC schedules interviews every second Tuesday of the month for the Embassy but they schedule them for any business day when the Embassy is open. I have friends, whose interviews were on a Monday, or another day...

TIME FLIES... IT'S TRUE...

A year ago I was 5 months pregnant when we were done with process and I finally got back in US.

A year later now, we have a 6-month old baby boy... and we live happily ever after

Not thinking yet of the AOS but patiently gathering evidence...

I waited a week and a half and I still didnt get it, so I went to a local SSC Center and apply there; I received the card 5 days later.

I waited 2 months and never received it, but I had a SS# from years ago, so it wasn't a problem to start working again. I just went to the SS administration, filled in a new form and my new SS card arrived within 7 days

Don't wait for it to arrive, just go and apply again is my advice. Also, you can apply for jobs, and they can always add your social later even if you get hired first. That is an option for all employers, as many students come over in the summer on a J-1 and wait for a month for the card. Does it mean they have to loose a month of work and pay when their working authorization period is only 4 months? Go and get the job now, good luck!

Faris Ali Gillani was born on Sunday, January 24th 2010 at 11:46am!!! The doctors decided to induce me when they saw that my placenta was looking too aged. All in all the first part of labor was kind of miserable cause it was taking so long and I wasn't dilating well, but it simply felt like menstrual cramps so the pain wasn't so bad. But it sped up out of nowhere going from 1cm to 9cm's in half an hour and exactly an hour afterwards my beautiful baby boy was born!!!

....g2g now though. Will be logging on next whenever I get a breathing moment to do so...lol.

Haven't been on VJ lately as I was busy with preparing for the baby, going to school, working on the house, etc., but I remember reading somewhere on VJ about a pregnancy tread, so I decided to look it up. Does anybody remember (I do) there was a post on VJ tread with an attached excel file with all the baby things a couple needs to buy for a newborn? I can not find this file, but if anyone has any idea and could provide a link to download, would be very thankful.

hi guys , I'm from Peru I applied for a CR1 visa and i got my interview for december 21st ... now I'm trying to buy the plane ticket for the end of december and it has 1 stop and it's in canada ... so it would be Peru- Canada Canada-Chicago ... would that be a problem ... 'cuz this is the first time i travel to the US. does the first stop has to be in the US or not ?? plz I'd really appreciate your help ..

Well, if I were you I wouldn't buy the ticket yet. Things happen - visa could be delayed, they might require some more evidence, you never know. And it says in the interview instructions (if I remember well) that you should not buy a plane ticket until visa is in hand. Good luck on your interview.

Hi everyone, my case was closed at the NVC on november 5th, today i called and they told they scheduled my interview To be on december 28th , which makes me feel so down cuz i thought i was at least spending xmas with my hubby. Do u guys think is possible to reschedule a few days earlier at least?.. If so should i do this calling the nvc or the embassy of my country?

carmen, I went through this and was able to reschedule earlier with 3 weeks. you don't need a reason for reschedule, all you need is them having an open earlier date for an interview. for more info on my experience and tips, READ HERE

If you are the petitioner (USC):

First it asks to state " Applicants residence last five years. List present address first"

Then right below it it states "Applicants last address outside the US of more than one year" --> so over here should I re-state my present address?

Well, the question is "Did you live outside US for more than one year?"

- yes - then fill in the info

- no - then put N/A

Then it states please provide "Applicants employment last five years. List present employment first"...

But then it states "Show below last occupation abroad if not shown above" ---> so over here should I re-state my present work address?

Well, the question is "Did you work outside US at all?"

- yes - then fill in the info

- no - then put N/A

On my husbands (he is the us citizen i am the Canadian) i just put none in that box.. because i am pretty sure in the instructions it said to put none or n/a if it didn't apply to them. But now that i am looking at it is kind of weird that they wouldn't have a separate one for the us citizen cause at the bottom it asks for alien registration number as well.

It won't affect your petition at all. The only thing you should worry about is the potential to have an interview date during that week.

Yes, I guess that's her reason. Well, until now we haven't move on with the NVC because of the service Express Mail Service (EMS) provided was very incompetent, It's been 21 days now and my DS-230 packet haven't arrive in my attorney's office in San Francisco.

I believe you won't have an interview date set up by then or at least not for that time of the year, so enjoy your vacation in Italy

Is it possible to go on the trip to the Egypt during this procedures? We are waiting for NOA2, my husband is in the USA, I'm in the Poland and we plan to leave together. Are there any obstacles?

Not a problem at all. We went on a second honeymoon in Europe while waiting for NOA2 and we had our US parents to pick up the mail from our mail box. Go and enjoy! Egypt rocks!

My wife and I plan to get married next month in the US. She is a Japanese Citizen and lives in Tokyo and I live in the US. I was just wondering if after the marriage, she should use my last name to be put on the marriage certificate. If she does carry my last name, should I put that on the I-130 form? Will she also be required to change her last name on her passport and other documents such as joint bank accounts, joint apartment lease? This is all for our planned CR-1.

You say you'll be getting married in USA. Is she staying in US after marriage, or she's going back to Japan to wait for the immigration process to be over?

But to answer your question - yes, she can change her last name after marriage, before you petition her. and yes, she'll have to change her name in the passport as well
