  1. What about proof of a professional doctoral degree...?

Well... I dont know exactly what is the question, I would assume you are talking about taking or showing proof of your educational degrees? The interview is just for you to show that the relationship is bonafide, meaning that you only need to prove that you and your SO are together because you are in love...not because your SO is just trying to move into the US .... Secondly, they need you to prove that you make enough income to support your SO so that she/he wont be a charge or load to the government. All of this can be easily supported with letter of employment, previous year taxes, and bank statements, properties, etc... they are not questioning or making their decision based on yours or your SO's educational background... but again.. you are welcome to bring any document that you might think is relevant to show at the interview.....my only advice is just show them what they ask you to show in the interview... for instance: if they ask: show me your taxes for 2008? ........ and you give them 2008-2000 they do not like that because they did not ask you for all those years...

Meant it to show my ability to support her....overthinking. Good news though, the package is at the embassy in Bogota. :)

  2. Quick question...on the financial information. I meet the requirement...and have my return prepared by my accountant. Question is...do I still need my checking account information? If I do, I deposited probably around 40 grand in the account that year, but I only keep about 1000 at a time. Is that ok? Or, do I need to make a bigger deposit and leave it? Thanks!

Fey, will she need to receive the packet from the embassy before she sends this in? Is there a way to know the BGT case number before hand?

Thanks! She has most of that already. She's a nurse so I'm sure she has had all the vaccinations, but I'll figure out the format they need to prove it. Thanks for all guys!

BTW...will the police report/birth certificate and so on..need to be translated into english?

  5. This is so strange. I was JUST LOOKING for the number to contact VSC and low and behold I have this in my mail.

    Post-Decision Activity

On October 6, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

  6. We are in the process of getting out K1...filed in May. Anyway, is there any problem with trying to get a tourist visa for her to come here for her vacations?

I thought there might be a problem because she is coming to see me...will that fall under the guidelines of a travel visa? Also, is there a problem because we are in the final steps of a K1?

How hard and how much time does it take to get a tourist visa in Bogota? She is a nurse...very stable, not likely to become illegal.

  7. Haven't even gotten a touch and I've called the service center I don't know how many times. Unfortunately I have not gotten ahold of a person. So, I used the email address to contact them and explained why I didn't wait 30 days for email contact.

I just made the observation that the website says cases are taken in the order they are filed...but many people are being approved who have filed a month or more after I did. So I asked if it were possible that my case was lost.

Any chance I'll get an email back?

  8. Just my two cents. In my state we have DVP's. A person goes to a local magistrate and complains of some sort of abuse. It has to have a physical element. For instance, he blocked the door, not allowing me to leave, pushed me, hit me. A magistrate will give this to anyone that complains of abuse. Your recourse is to go to Family Court to the scheduled hearing (within 15 days) to claim no abuse.

You don't want to be in this situation. Notify the government that you are apart and you are refusing to marry her. Time will be important in this, you need to do it before she files a DVP (or whatever you have in your state). Have NO contact with her. It would be good if you could build in a witness. Maybe even video tape any encounter that you must have.

    Good luck.

  9. Good morning May!

Congratulations to the people who got their NOA2!!:dance:

Congratulations to everyone else who is progressing, it really is good to hear that great news! I bet it feels quite crazy booking interveiws and such when you've been waiting so long!

As for me I am still waiting but I have adopted a calmer attitude towards it, I'm just going enjoy my weekend and take Eltemps advice of -trying- not to think about it, and maybe it will come. I haven't had a touch since 17/09/09 and their new sites says Initial Review which I think is good, not sure how it works but I think if they haven't looked at your case yet, you'd be on the first little bubble? But heyho!

Does it feel better now you guys are past the NOA2 stage and onto NVC/Consulate or is it worse? I always though to myself it would be better cause you can have a bit more of an active role rather than just waiting and not knowing.

Going to make some lunch, enjoy your day guys.

Best wishes to everyone who's still waiting/in AP.

I think initial review means you have a NOA1. My understand is they haven't touched the case.

I thought that the NOA1 was acceptence, It says under acceptance "USCIS issues a receipt number for the application or petition, and sends a receipt notice to the applicant." Which would be the NOA1. I could be wrong but it says under Initial Review that it concerns background checks on the Petitioner, which would explain my 3 touches in a row. I don't know why they'd start that if they weren't looking at my petition. Maybe I'm just being too hopeful!

No approvals yet today it looks like, do they work weekends?

I've actually had a really good day, I've been out in the sun[yes it's occasionally sunny in england!], with a few glasses of wine relaxing and reading a book! It might sound silly but sometimes all you need is for someone to tell you to relax before you actually do. Again thanks Temp! ^^

    Best wishes.

    Jaz.

It says the acceptance step is completed after 2 business days. So, I think the review step means they are doing nothing with it. What does a touch look like with the new system?
