  1. Congrats on your approval!! I didn't get a decision at our interview but today I received the Email/Text notification for Card/ Document Production. Does that mean that I'm approved? :)

Thanks :)! If you received a text saying card/document production, that typically means your card has been ordered & therefore, you are approved! My status on USCIS went to card/document production the day after my interview, eventhough he told us we were approved at the interview and stamped my passport. Later that day the status moved to "decision" & from what I understand this is the normal process eventhough it looks like it's going backwards. You should also be receiving an email soon about I-130 approval if you filed it with your I-485. Congrats :)

  2. Hi fellow June filers!! We just received our AOS appointment notification for September 12, which gives us about a month to gather any supporting evidence for the interview. Can someone please enlighten us as to what we should bring for the interview? Thank you in advance :-).

Congrats! We just received our AOS interview notice and it's scheduled for Sept 12 also! I'm not 100% sure what to take to the interview either b/c I have been reading different things. Some people are saying to take everything but the kitchen sink and some are saying they didn't have to show any documents, other than their passport. I guess, like everything else on here, it depends on the individual case and the immigration officer. I am thinking it would be better be over-prepared, so I am basically taking our expanding file folder that has all of our papers in it - from immigration documents to tax returns, bills, bank statements, lease, husband's pay stubs, etc. Also, I am going to take some photos & of course my passport and marriage certificate. Other than that, I don't really know...hopefully someone who knows more or has already been through it will help out here...

  3. I understand were you are coming from but the manner in which the questions were asked were extremely disrepecful. Regardless I know I am saying the truth and have faith that the proof will persevere. I spoke to an immigration attorney adn he actually told me many of his clients have been denied when they are an actual couple. So this seems to be a common theme in the conuslate in DR. Every country is different.

As your attourney told you, this is a common theme in the DR. It's a simple fact - not a personal opinion- and there isn't much anyone can do about it. Although it's disappointing for you, I would try not to look at it as a personal attack. Your previous fiance petition, I'm sure, is the main reason you were subjected to this type of interrogation. Marriage deals are common AND one of the main reasons this process is so long, difficult, demanding, time-consuming, expensive and down right annoying for all of us who are legit. As for the line of questioning, I am sure I would feel better about all the sex questions if my visa was approved. The fact is, the people at the consulate were just doing their jobs and being vigilant. I am sorry you are going through this but hang in there and be persistant - the truth will prevail.

  4. Hello everyone.

Just wondering if any Visa Journey members have done an early walk in for biometrics at the Charleston, SC Local office?

Even though I haven't received my letter for appointment, I am thinking of going in early if I can. The main reason I want to go in early is so I can get my EAD as early as possible (If I can that is)

    Thanks again.

    Hey,

Just wondering if you tried the walk-in in Charleston, SC or waited for your appointment date? I'm wondering the same thing you were back in May. I received an appointment date for July 29 but hoping to speed up the process! Anyway, I looked at your timeline and see that your EAD was approved.

  5. I went to Charleston last Thursday. They done both at the same time, but then my appointment letter did state that they would be doing both.

I would do, as was recommended to you, and take both of your appointment letters with you. As quiet as it was there when I went, I can't see you having a problem asking them to enter your biometrics for both benefits.

    Good luck

That is what I shall do  ...hopefully they won't be too busy on the 29.

  6. Hey June filers! I just received another biometrics appointment letter from the USCIS today. I was somewhat confused b/c I had already received one last week and thought that the appointment would cover all the biometrics for the process. Then when I looked closer, the first letter stated the appointment was for the I-485 and the second letter stated the appointment is for I-765. The first appointment is on July 29 , the second on August 4. Anyway, I called the 800 number and spoke with a customer service rep and she said that since they are two separate benefits that I am applying for, biometrics are required for each. She suggested that I take my second letter to my first appointment and I might be able to complete both appointments on July 29. After I got off the phone, I was still a little confused b/c I never heard anyone talking about 2 separate biometric appointments on here before. I did a search and apparently it does happen but doesn't appear to be very common. Some posters are even calling it a "glitch". I'm not too worried about it...worst case scenario- I have to make another trip to Charleston on Aug 4 ( 2 hr drive, not the end of the world)... but just wondering if this happened to anyone else in this forum?

  7. First I want to apologize if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. I have been researching the Visa process for over 2 years and I am still confused and do not have all the answers I need. Hopefully there is someone on this site who is in, or has been in, a similar situation.

I am a Canadian who married a USC in February 2009. I came back to Canada shortly after our wedding and he stayed in the US. We did not have a K-1 fiancee visa. I just went to the US with my passport, which is what I always do and we decided to get married while I was there. We planned for me to come back to Canada and start the whole immigration process ASAP. However, there were some unforseen roadblocks that prevented us from doing this. Both of us had been previously married and our exes started making things difficult - especially mine because I would be taking our children to the US for part of the year to live (previously I discussed this with my ex and he was fine -he changed his mind after I got married).Anyway, I don't want to get into all the details but the bottom line is we didn't file anything and now my ex is in agreement to the kids coming to the US with me for part of the year. Here are my questions:

    1) After being married for 1.5 years can we still apply for a K-3 as the whole point of it is to bring spouses together faster? Or would it automatically be rejected because we waited so long.

    2) I understand that now it's common for the K-3s to be rejected and the CR-1's issued instead. I get that CR1 is a better visa with instant ability to work once I enter the US - but what about the kids? From what I see on here, my husband would have to file an I-130 for each of them, whereas they would be covered on my petition under the K-3 umbrella. If we file the I-130 and then the I-129f (for K3)and it's rejected, will we have to start from scratch with the I-130 for each child?

    3) With a K-3 do each of the children need medicals before entering the USA, as they would with the CR-1? Also do they have to go to an interview for CR-1? From what I gather, they do not have to interview for the K-3. If we have to pay $355 a pop for I-130, $350 (X3)for medical and then two trips to Montreal (X3) it's probably going to cost much more right of the bat then if we were went the K-3 path.

My children are 14 & 12 and my husband and I have given ourselves a deadline of this Friday to decide what we're doing. Any suggestions and/or information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
