  1. My husband(K-1)had his medical exam in Bangladesh in August 2010 and we will be filing for AOS before November 2010. From my understanding, we only need to complete part 1,2 and 5 of the I-693. Part 2 includes information about the TB test. Is he required to get this again since we already have current chest x-rays? The civil surgeon here in the states administered the skin test, and of course it was positive and he needs the x--ray as most everyone from Bangladesh does. They are saying we have to get a chest x-ray with them and they will not accept the x-rays from Bangladesh even though they are excellent quality and only 2 months old. If we don't need the TB test again, what do we give the Civil Surgeon so that he can complete this section correctly????? Please help!

This leads me to my vent about our CS.......

I had called around to different Civil Surgeons in the Akron/Cleveland, Ohio area. I was told over the phone that it would cost me $150 max for the appointment with Dr. James E Martin of Summa Western Reserve Urgent Care (3913 Darrow Road, Suite 100, Stow, OH 44224). I took my husband to the appointment and they administered a full medical, which is not what we requested (and even told them numerous times what we needed), and handed me the bill of $487 which had to be paid in full upfront! Their staff were rude, uncourteous, and just downright nasty. If you are in Ohio, please do not use them and get ripped-off like we did. They also have no clue about immigration and are very unknowledgeable about it.

I'm considering to just pull my husbands records from that CS and find a new one, but I am starting to second guess myself on what we really need. I certainly don't want to pay another $487!

Please help! I'm feeling very taken advantage of.

  2. The food high didnt last all night :( I started crying again.. I am really going to have to pull myself together.. In my crying stupor I managed to email the embassy... I am sure I will have an auto response in the morning... I will post it here first thing...

A little piece of our Wedding Video... goshh.. my heart is aching tonight :crying:

You looked GORGEOUS! Thanks for sharing part of your wedding video. :)

This waiting is really killing me too. Poor FI's heart jumps every time his phone rings thinking it might be the Embassy.

It is so hard to explain this whole process to people. They just don't understand why he can't just come here. :(

  3. This is for my wife's immigrant visa - follow to join (I-824), employment based category E-2. Now to0 much upset what the nvc / dhaka consulate is doing...........................

Well, the Dhaka Embassy was supposed to send us a packet with the things we needed to submit to them and information about our interview date. This packet never arrived- not to my house in the US nor to my fiance's house in Dhaka. I emailed them, and I was so lucky I did. Our interview was in less than 2 weeks, but they claim to have sent us the packet over 1 month before the interview date. You can always email them to inquire.

  4. Hi

Thanks for reply. My case was completed on april 2010 on NVC, till then it is waiting for interview at dhaka consulate. any clue how long takes time to get interview after case complete, any reply would be greatly appreciable.

    Thanks

    What visa are you getting?

  5. Hi, everyone. As the thread title says, we just got 221 g Administrative Processing from the Dhaka embassy (blue sheet).

My fiance went alone and the CO told him that all of our documents were "good" and that they "accepted" them which we were relieved about since we had an issue about the co-sponsor. They asked him to fill out a questionnaire with 10 questions asking about his involvement in different groups/politics/etc and information about his travel history and family. He is supposed to submit that asap. They kept his passport though. Could this be taken as a good sign that his AP won't be very long? Is it normal that they keep the passport for long periods of time?

Also, is there anyone else here from Bangladesh with AP? I'm trying to get a feel for how long it is taking there, if that is even possible. :help:

  6. I-134 is not "legally binding" - only the 864 is, so it should not be an issue.

However - if you make above the 125% level now, did they look at your current income - did you show evidence of that?

Yes. I showed absolutely everything. I had been working for about 1.5 years at the time of the interview, but my 2008 taxes only showed 1/2 year of full time employment- so the AGI (which they looked at) was lower than what my current status was at the time. I showed a letter from my employer and all of my pay stubs. They barely looked at anything I gave them. They relied on the previous year's taxes and gave very little regard to my current situation. (I was present in the interview.) They told us to submit an I-134 from a co-sponsor along with 2009 tax transcripts.

  7. The US Embassy in Dhaka required us to get a cosponsor. We applied for K-1. I make above 125% of the poverty line, but my past 3 years taxes at the time of the interview (they required us to show them) did not show that I was making that much since I was a full time student. I'm having a difficult time to find a cosponsor because my family has no experience with immigration and are scared to sign anything. My question is, how long are the obligations for the I-134? Would my cosponsor's obligations end once I file the I-864 for AOS? I hope to carry the I-864 on my own. So theoretically, they would only have an obligation to us for 90 days?

    Thanks for the help!

  8. I'm an international student adviser at a university in the USA and work with F-1 and J-1 students daily. I also know the staff at Purdue's international office. Unless you are on a reciprocity or exchange program, you will most likely be applying for an F-1 visa. You should be able to apply for a change of status after your marriage. I would, however, wait some time before applying for the change of status. Generally, we advise students to not change status until they are in their current status for 6+ months, unless there are extenuating circumstances.

    Best of luck! :)
