My husband is currently in Ohio (US Air Force) and his parents live in Missouri. He said, it might take him some more time to look for a house to buy and i might need to live with his parents and visit me over the weekend for a week. His parents like me to live with them and would love to have me there. And, I have nothing against them. My husband also wants me to spend time with them and be close to every member of his family. He is looking for a house everyday, but can't find the house that best fits our budget and has the resell-able quality in 4 years. Then, I began worrying about myself. My desire is to be with him as soon as I stepped in America. I have been longing to have him. I know homesickness strikes to every immigrant especially if she has never been away from her family. On the other hand, I don't want to offend my husband by saying NO right away. He has good intentions and valid reasons. But, my question is, if you were in my situation, would you accept the proposal? would you say, it's ok?! Or should I just postpone my flight to a later date until he finds a house? If you were my husband, what would you feel if I do that? Of course, I also want to consider what he would feel if I answer, NO, i don't like. before I reply to his email, i want to get answers from you guys. thank you!

Once the embassy receives your case, they will send you a letter informing you that you are eligible to schedule an interview. Then, that's the time you can call them and schedule for an interview. The NVC has nothing to do with your schedule. You can choose your most convenient time. You may want to postpone it when you want to. Once you receive your interview date, the embassy will send you a letter to your email about your scheduled interview, once you get it, you can go to your medical with the letter from NVC and the schedule (printed). You have to wait about 3 weeks before they can send you a letter after NVC sends your case to the consulate. Hope that helps.
the number for nvc is 1603 334 0700,but by calling nvc does not make it faster
u will get the interview date of their choice
u can change the date for later not before the date they assign u

Well, actually, that may be true for the IR1/CR1, but I have filed a K1. I understand that for a K1, the US Embassy sets the Interview Date. Also, I believe that the DS-230 is only for a spousal visa (K3/IR1/CR1) but I am not sure of this.
I have already spoken to the NVC, and from their perspective, they seemed to be done with the case (assuming they actually *did* send it on as they said they would be when I called earlier today).
Does anyone know if the DS-230 needs to be filed for the K1 and if I need to complete any part of it??
DS-230 is for immigrant and you only have to fill out DS156 and 157 and bring them to the interview.

maybe, since her son's case is connected with hers, and because her son's case is not completed yet, then it shows that it affects her case... and it will be completed when her son's case is completed...ahhh, pati ako naguguluhan na sa sinabi ko..a.ahah!

LAX is just our POE, but I will be in Ohio. So, xylide and i are going to have different connecting flights after POE.
Xylide, should we buy the ticket at the same time? I'm sure, you will get your visa before I get mine.

congrats, abby and sheryl! I think you're case started on March 2009 based on your timeline and not 2008...and that means your case is completed so fast! Wow! That's nice! Good luck! You will get your interview date soon.

Just wanted to give all of you July interviewees some good news, WE GOT THE VISA!!!! We were worried... lots of up and down emotions, but with persistence, we did it! My wife helped another person there get their visa too... it was a great amazing day!!! We are so very happy!!!

Never been thru LAX, but Chicago O'Hare was huge, i think bigger than Detroit. It really doesnt matter tho as long as you allow at least 2-3 hours to catch your connecting flight. That should give you plenty of time to get thru immigration and freshen up before you meet the hubby

How close is it to Dayton, Ohio? I will be in Dayton in August. Hope I can meet you around and be friends. :-)
By the way, why is your POE in Detroit? Can't it be in Dayton or columbus? Does it mean that my POE would be in Detroit as well? please let me know! Thanks!
It depends on the airline you travel with...I dont believe any international carrier has their hub in Dayton or Columbus...the airport in Dayton is way too small for one thing. She was probably on a Northwest flight like I was, and had a connecting flight to Cinci.
Anyhow, happy travels! Get driving as soon as you can so you can explore the area. There will be a new outlet mall opening this August (supposedly) in Monroe (it's between Dayton and Cincinnati, so you guys might want to meet there hehe)
