  1. I just called the NVC and the operator told me that they have reviewed the I-864 and everything was fine and that they just got my DS230 Last March 10 so they're currently reviewing it. So all of you guys are correct.. it's all about my DS230.. I just have 1 question.... Looking at other's timeline here, it only took them 2 to 4 days reviewing their DS230.. They said the received mine last March 10, how come it's taking time for them to review it. hmmmm..... hehe.. just wondering.. :-)

Mine took 7 days. So, your case should be completed any day now. Good luck.

  2. You do have to send the marriage certificate (of all ur previous marriage also if u r divorced). See the link ==> http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/in...age_certificate

I think this answers ur question:

    Petitioner Documents

Applicants in the following visa categories are required to provide 1) an original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s birth certificate and 2) original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.

Parent of a U.S. Citizen who is at least 21 years old (IR-5)

Brothers and sisters of United States citizens (F4)

  3. I just want to caution you in few things cause I went through some worrysome time cuz of my desire to expedite the process:

The IIN for AOS and IV fee bill are the same, so you can pay the bill. However, even though u see that the IV fee bill is payable, u've to make sure that the invoice is generated first. I paid the IV fee bill right away and the bill wasn't generated till that night, so I had to wait for the system to reject that pay and wait for few additional days before I can repay again. You'll lose more time if u pay the IV fee bill before it's generated. So, without confirming that IV fee bill is generated, DO NOT PAY even though the online process allows u to pay. You can do some search on my previous posts to find out what happened in my situation. Good luck.

  4. All the documents, except for passport copy, for DS230 have to be either certified or original copies. Photocopy or notarized copies will not work.

thanks, will i get the orginal marriage certificates later ?

That's my understanding. After the interview, the embassy gives the original back and keeps the photocopy ones for their record. FYI, you need to send 2 of each document. Example: 1) Original or Certified copy of the Birth Certificate 2) Photocopy of the Birth Certificate.

  5. I don't understand this whole posting. Why's there extreme hardship letter needed from friends to sponsor parents? If the mother was approved, wasn't there a marriage certificate that will prove the relationship of the father and be approved together? Or, is he ur stepdad? Even, in that case, why would a letter from ur friends in US help if ur parents are living abroad. You'll need letter from ur relative, such as uncle/aunt/cousin to prove ur relationship between u and ur parents.

  6. I agree with other posts that u shouldn't pay unless u can verify that IV is generated. It'll allow u to pay online before the IV fee bill is generated, but it'll error out after u make ur payment and will lose few days in process before everything gets cleared. You can search for posts I made and see what I went thru when I paid my IV bills online b4 it was generated.

  7. Arun is right... the "certified" copies doesn't mean attested/notarized copy of the original. What you did is a notarize the copy saying it's a duplicate of the original. However, NVC's certified copy requirement for DS230 has to come from the issuing agency. So, if you were born in a hospital, the certified copy of the birth certificate will have to be issued by either the hospital or the county who have record of your birth. At least that's my understanding.

  8. I called NVC before I left for visit with my husband on Feb 18th and they said I didn't get a date, so I just waited to call when I got home yesterday and the nvc guy said oh we sent you the mail on March 3rd that your case was scheduled as of Feb 27th (so much for them only scheduling on 2nd week of month). So they emailed the appointment letter to both husband and I on March 3rd. His interview is on April 22nd at 8 am. He's calling for appt for his medical exam tomorrow. The appt letter gave a link to a new improved dov.state page which lists pdf files for each consulate with info about the how to get the medical exam.

Congrats and good luck to all of us.

Congratulations to you and all and good luck.

I don't know if it's just w/ me, but it seems like NVC's interview setup process can be anyday of the month (contrary to "second week of the month"). You can see from my timeline that NVC setup the interview at the end of Feb. Also, if NVC has the email address, it seems like they send everything to you via email. I got my interview letter also in email. I guess that's good cuz it's faster and can be checked from anywhere. Just my experience.
