  1. We have been waiting for our NOA 2 from the VSC since December 28, 2009...

Yesterday, I called the USCIS to find out why I couldn't log in to my account (I didn't know that this was a problem everyone was having)... I wasn't planning to inquire about my status because I have already called a couple of times for that reason and have just gotten the "canned" response about having to wait at least 5 months before they can do anything... (5 months for us will be on May 28) Anyway, after the guy explained that they are having problems with their webpage, he asked me if there was anything else he could do for me... I figured, what the heck, so I asked him if there was any way that he could check the status of my petition.

He actually looked in the system and noticed that "officially," the Vermont Service Center is currently working on January 9 petitions... So my petition is actually 9 days beyond the "official" processing time. Therefore, he went ahead and sent a Service Request to the VSC to inquire about my petition.

We are very happy about something/anything finally happening... (Although I know this is not much, we haven't even had a "touch" since December 31, 2009)...

Does anyone know about how long it takes for the VSC to act on a Service Request? Is it possible that our NOA 2 is finally coming?

  2. Hey guys... There's still some of us that have not received our NOA 2... It has been a long, hard wait... And we're STILL waiting... But something happened today that gives me a glimmer of hope...

  3. I love the first day of every month because I check Igor's list and feel like I've moved leaps and bounds closer to the goal.

Congrats to all December filers for moving up the list. Monday I will start my phone calls to ask USCIS why it has been 5 months and no response. If anyone else starts calling, let me know if you get anywhere. Thanks!

Wow, Raimey... You got a touch... That is great!

How did it go with calling the USCIS today? Any news?

On our end, nothing yet... We will have to wait until the 28th until we can start calling.

    STILL WAITING

  4. Hi,

Congratulations to all ! I have read your good news. To those who are still waiting on the NOA 2 approval, don't worry about who is ahead of you at the current moment. Our interview is in June but she will probably not be here until August. I have seen some people here after they recieve their visa in hand wait many months to be with their loved ones.

Good luck to all, and thanks PJ

JJ... I guess you're right... The only difference is that we still don't know if we're going to be approved... If you have your visa in hand, at least you know it is just a matter of time before you will be with your sweetie.

Nevertheless, thanks for trying to help... Not knowing really sucks, and talking with you guys definitely makes us feel better.

    Thanks for the support

  5. Plan on 120-140 days - anything less will be a pleasant surprise.

    Hi fellow K-1er...

My prediction: fewer than 99 days!

    (If everything goes smoothly)

Sorry Tahoma... I'm with Otto on this one... I am at 121 days and still waiting (not even a touch since December 31)...

To the original poster... As Otto said, plan on 4-5 months... Anything else can be considered a blessing.

    Good luck

  6. I forgot to ask -- do you know how to check for touches on the USCIS Web site? It might be a good idea to check!

First of all, thanks for the encouragement... We appreciate the support, especially when it comes from others who have gone/are going through the same stress.

To answers a couple of your questions...

    • We already have prepared all the forms (plus supporting documentation) needed for the interview, including the I-134... The only things we still need are the police certificates and the medical
    • I check the USCIS webpage every day, including logging in to check the "last touched" date... I also signed up for text message and e-mail updates.

So basically, I think we are ready for the next step... I just wish that the USCIS would let us take it.

    We'll keep you guys updated.

    Again... Thanks for the encouragement!

  7. If it's any consolation, Milagros won't be moving here for another 2 months after I go see her on Saturday.. Another 2 month stretch of waiting.. It's tough, but in the end, I think it makes us all stronger. You'll get your approval soon, just keep the faith! Tomorrow could be your day

Thanks for the words of encouragement... We will definitely keep the faith... That is all we can do while we wait...

Whenever that approval comes (hopefully you are right and tomorrow will be our day ;) ), you guys will be 2nd to know... Right after I call my fiancee in Brazil and let her know.

    Wish us hope!

  8. Hi agquarters! Just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat as you. There are still a few of us December filers waiting to hear. I know the anxiety you are feeling; patience is not my strong suit. My fiance is the least anxious person in the world, and even he is full of anxiety. Good luck with the waiting game. Let us know if you find a miracle way to get an answer. I will do the same vice versa.

RaimeyHoney... Thanks for the response... Please don't take it personal, but it is good to see that I am not the only one going through this agony... It seems like everyone else on here is having their interviews already... It hurts! (Although I am very happy to see all you guys that have made it through... I hope to join y'all soon!)

At any rate, it is good to see that I am not alone. At least it makes me feel that maybe it is not because there is something wrong... We just got unlucky.

I will definitely keep you updated with my progress (or lack there of)... You do the same, please... Maybe we can help each other get through this terrible wait.

    Good luck!

  9. I hope you receive your approval really soon. I am sorry your having to wait so long for your approval. Good luck to you. I would call and call over and over again. I chose the option to change address so I could speak to someone when I was concerned about my case.

Thanks for the tip... I did call last week and chose the "problems with an application" option in order to get to a real person. I did get to talk to a person, but got the canned "you are still within the alloted time period" response.

When you called, did was it before the 5 month time period? Did you get any real answers?

    Thanks in advance

  10. Hi guys...

I am a December filer... But I am starting to feel very lonely here listening to everyone talk about their interview dates and their interview results... I am STILL waiting on our NOA 2, and we are really beginning to think there is something wrong (based on the fact that it seems like EVERYONE else on here has already received either their NOA 2 or an RFE).

I know that we are supposed to stay patient until the 5 months pass, but if anyone has any ideas regarding anything we can do to find out what is going on (or at least some words of encouragement :( ) it would be greatly appreciated.

    Keeping my fingers crossed...

  11. :crying: :crying: :crying: we still don't have noa2 yet since hubby sent the rfe :crying: :crying: :crying:anyone have idea when it will be? :help: :help: :help:

Our NOA 1 was dated December 28... Same as yours... And to this date, we still don´t have our NOA 2... Not even a touch (or an RFE)...

I wish there was something I could do... I tried calling, but got the canned response saying that I have to wait until after the 5 months passed. I also sent an e-mail to my congressman, and got another canned response saying they will reply in a few weeks.

Right now, we feel helpless... And we can´t help to think that there is something wrong.

Could they have found something wrong with our application? Even if we have not received any RFEs and we haven´t had any touches since December 31 (3 days after the NOA 1 date)?

    What could be going on?

  12. my process took as follow:

I-129F was approved in 88 days from my NOA1

Interview took 150 days from I-129F NOA1 Date..

Perhaps, you may want to call them and find status.. Did you get any NOA2, have you received your new RDJ #?

Regarding calling them... It seems they don't want to hear from you unless it has been longer than the 5 months they say the process (from NOA 1 and NOA2) will take. Should I call and try to talk to a person anyway? I think I would have to "lie" to the automated answering system and tell it that I have gone past the 5 months before it will allow me to reach a real person.

To answer your other questions... I have NOT received the NOA 2 yet. I received the NOA 1 on December 28, and the file hasn't been touched since December 31. Also... I haven't received an RDJ number... I guess I get that when I receive the NOA 2?

    Any advise would be appreciated.

  13. This thread is 15 pages long, so forgive me if this has been asked and I didn't see...

My question is... What does the US Embassy in Brazil require as the documentation to be included with Form I-134? The document on their webpage titled "Instructions for K1 Visa Applicants" says:

The sponsor must attach proof of his/her income such as: Copy of last U.S. Federal Income Tax (form 1040), proof of current employment, job offer, pay-slip, etc.

But the "official" instructions for Form I-134 says:

The sponsor must submit, in duplicate, evidence of income and resources, as appropriate.

    A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution in which you have deposits giving the following details regarding your account: 1) Date account opened 2) Total amount deposited for the past year 3) Present balance

    B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, showing: 1) Date and nature of employment 2) Salary paid 3) Whether position is temporary or permanent

    C. If self-employed: Copy of last income tax return filed, or report of commercial rating concern

    D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Obviously, it is a lot easier to provide copies of my tax returns, pay slips, bank statements, etc. as opposed to "signed statements" from my employer and banks...

    Which is correct?

    Thanks in advance

  14. I got a straight answer (reply to an e-mail) from the US Embassy in Rio... Surprisingly, they responded within 1 hour!

Here is their response (in case anyone else has the same question):

The new form DS-160 is not used for K1 visas. You can still use forms DS-156 and DS-157 for this purpose.

    Regards,

    Consular Communications Office

    United States Consulate General

Rio de Janeiro - RJ - Brazil

I guess that is pretty definitive, so we will have forms DS-156 and DS-157 in our documentation packet for my fiancee's interview... Of course, we still haven't even received our NOA2! :( ... (101 days, and not even a touch)

Thanks to everyone for their input.

  15. Hi all...

I was looking at the US Embassy - Brazil web page and saw an announcement about a new DS-160 form that came into effect on April 5... I then went to their "Forms for Fiance(e) Visas" page (Link here) and saw the following note:

    Note:

    1) DS-156 and DS-157s are still required for K and Refugees Visas, until further notice. DS-160 will be accepted on those cases.

    2) Applicant must present two copies of this form. It will only be accepted in the electronic version.

I do not understand Note 1... What does "DS-160 will be accepted on those cases" mean? Is DS-156 and DS-157s still required? Is DS-160 accepted in their place?

Can anyone clarify this new Form DS-160?

    Thanks in advance

  16. Hello everyone...

We are currently going through the K1 approval process (we have received the NOA1 and should get the NOA2 anytime... I hope)... My fiancee and her daughter (17 y.o.) were planning to come visit me for two weeks in July, partly so that her daughter would see how life is in Houston, and also to look at some universities in Texas she may be interested in attending. Considering that we will still be going through the K1 approval process when they make their trip in July (probably going to have an interview scheduled for sometime after they return to Brazil), I was wondering if there would be any problems with them making this trip at that time. Please consider the following factors that may or may not have any relevance:

    • My fiancee has already visited me twice before beginning the K1 process... She has dual citizenship (Brazil and Japan), so she used her Japanese passport to enter the USA, because that way she didn't need a visa.
    • Her daughter (Brazilian citizen only) successfully received a tourist visa after the K1 process was initiated (only had a NOA1). I should note that during the interview for her tourist visa she stated that the purpose of her trip was to visit "her mom's boyfriend" and to look at universities in Texas. So they know that her mom has a boyfriend in the USA, and they approved her tourist visa anyway.

Will there be any problems with them coming to vitit at that time? Anything we can do to avoid problems?

    Please advise... Thanks!

  17. Hi all,

I am just starting the process to bring my fiance to the USA from Brazil via a K1 visa... I am using all the resources on this web page for information and guidance, but I have not been able to find details regarding what is necessary to include my fiance's 16-year old daughter in the approval process.

In addition to the steps outlined on this web page for the K1 application, is there any additional forms or information required to include my fiance's daughter in the visa request?

Any details you can share would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
