  3. Hi Trialmix,

We do have photo copies of both certificates. ( Canadian and Indian )

For Canadian , I know it will not take longer than 3 days day to get one.

For the Indian Police Certificate , I need to apply from Ottawa and it takes 5 weeks.

The question is , I don't want them back from NVC. Just wondering if I should have orignal with me for being safe during the interview.

We don't know , if in the interview letter they will ak for it ?

    So needed suggestion on this.

  4. Hi Everyone , I know this questions must be asked several times. I will really appreciate if I can get any help on this or if any one can guide me to the link where I can find this info

We submitted all original to NVC

    Birth certificate ( Beneficiary)

    Marriage Certificate

    Police clearance

We sent original via post to them.

We have managed to get the following originals

Do I need to get police certificate again ? If yes then I will apply for it today as it takes at least 5 weeks to get it ?

I would like to know , if I need to declare that we are married in Canada ?

    1) Do I need to declare to the Canadian government ? If yes , then how can I do it ?

    2) Do I need to declare at work ?

Is there any where else I need to declare we are married.

  8. Info in the Link :

Spousal tax returns are always filed separately - that is, the tax returns are prepared separately. However, when tax returns are prepared using personal income tax return software, most software will give the option of "coupling" the preparation of both returns. The returns are still printed and filed separately, but the software will usually highlight ways in which taxes may be reduced.

You are required to report what your marital status was as of December 31st of the tax year. This is done by ticking the appropriate box on page 1 of the tax return. The boxes include:

    Married

    Living Common-law

    Widowed

    Divorced

    Separated

    Single

You are married or living common-law as long as you and your spouse are not living separate and apart from each other on December 31st because of a breakdown of the marriage or common-law relationship. If you are living apart from each other due to some other reason, you would still be considered married or living common-law.

We have filled for our green card. We got marrid in april 2009. He lives in US and I live in Canada. I don have a Sin number in US as of now .. as I have not got my green card yet.

Questions : Will my husband living in US file his taxes as married ( joint).. If yes then I dont have a Sin number in US. How will this effect ?
