  1. Hi everyone,

I was never given a copy of the DS-3025 at my medical, only the official 'worksheet' which lists which vaccinations I was missing at the time (MMR & TDAP). I have read on here several times that it helps if you can give the civil surgeon transcribing your vaccines, a copy of the DS-3025. I know its inside my packet but as you're not supposed to open it, where would I get one from? Or is the worksheet enough proof for the CS?

    Many thanks!

  2. Thank you everyone for your replies!

Just to make things clearer, I had MMR, Tetanus & Diptheria, Polio & Pertussis a few months after I was born (I am now 26).

At the London medical I was told I only need to have the MMR & Tetanus, Diptheria & Pertussis (TDap).

So, today I've actually had MMR, Tetanus, Diptheria & Polio. Doesn't that mean that if all those other vaccines have been updated after 26 years, the Pertussis will need updating too??

Like Danu said, isnt it too close to have yet another dose of T & D?? I'm thinking now that the nurse probably isnt familar with TDaP as its for adults and I can't think that many adults at our little surgery in the middle of no where ever go in for this. She said Pertussis was really for children. Uhhh, I dont know. I guess we'll have to wait for what the Civil Surgeon says - as if they need any more excuse to rip us off!

  3. You will have to be in Canada for your interview date. Trying to reschedule your appointment might set you back months and months as they don't like to be messed around. You will also need to schedule your medical and arrange to get your police certificate just before the interview too, so it would be best around that time if you stayed in Canada or your fiance could come to you instead?

Aswell, if you are planning to go to the US for a lengthy time, be warned that you may be questioned heavily about why you are vsiting for such a long time. They can even refuse you to stay for the whole length of time. You will also need to provide proof of your ties to Canada and proof that you intend to return (apartment lease, job details etc)

I visited Russ for three months, just before we filed the I-129F last summer and had my payslips, employers letter etc at the ready for passport control.

  4. I wouldn't even bother trying to apply for a B2 while a K1 app is in process. Trust me, the K1 takes up enough stress, time and money alone. If I was you, I wouldn't want to complicate things. Depending on what your legal issue is, I'm sure if you've been advised it won't count against you, all will be fine. I hear sometimes they transfer cases to other offices with less workload.

We also called USCIS every day once it got to the 4 month mark, and were about to contact Russ' congressman too, just to see what was happening. Have many other people that filed during the same month as you, been approved yet?

  5. Hi there everyone, I wondered if anyone can shed a little light on this...

I had my medical in London just before Christmas and they told me I need TDaP and the MMR vaccines for my records to be complete for AOS. Not wanting to pay an extra £60 on top of the medical, I decided to get them done at my local GP's office for free. Little did I know at that stage that I'd have to find a Civil Surgeon and get them all transcribed onto the I-693 etc... At the medical they said I could just send in proof on my new vaccines with AOS, simple as that. Obviously, I've now discovered that that is not the case so I have an appointment all lined up with a CS in NY next month (my POE is May 31st).

So, I have just had my appointment with the nurse at my local surgery and she looked at my DS-3025 worksheet and didn't know what 'TDaP' is. She says the T is for Tetanus, the D is for Diptheria, but she didn't know what the 'aP' was... She says they dont have it (!) So, instead I've had TD/IPV - which is apparently Tetanus, Diptheria & Polio instead as apparently that would be suitable for my age range.

Is she right and does anyone know if this will all be what I need for AOS. I'm so confused!

  6. Thank you so much for your helpful replies. I've never heard anything about what they were for, hence the question. I will keep it safe then. Mav_1975, do you mind me asking why you had an RFE, even though you had the medical? Did you have outstanding vaccination and visit a civil surgeon for the I-693?

Also I don't have a record of the DS-3025 inside my packet, but I do have the worksheet they gave me at the medical. Is it worth trying to open the package to take a copy or not?

  7. My appointment is all set with Dr Noel Smith in Manhattan next month. They really tried the hard sell with Russ apparently and cut him short and started going on about having the full medical. They quoted $50 ('and up' apparently) but once he said we're only coming to you as you've personally been recommended to us and all paperwork is in order, they then agreed to the $50. Hope it goes smoothly!

  8. Hi everyone!

We have only three weeks to go before I make the big move to New Jersey on my K1 visa. Russ, my fiance, with be travelling over to the UK on 21st May and then we will be travelling back together on 31st.

I have already looked through the POE reviews and can't find many recent ones for Newark anyway but I still have a few questions...

    1) If you travelled with your American fiance, did they allow you to queue tgether in the citizens line or were you separated?

    2) Which forms do you fill out on the plane (normally I do the green and the customs form obv)

    2) When you were directed to Secondary Passport control, were you permitted to go together?

£) And finally how long in your experience were you kept waiting before you could go?

I'm asking all of this because we have to then travel to cargo to collect our beloved labrador (that I will be really worried about by this point). So I just like to know in advance, what others have experienced...

    Many thanks!

  9. I haven't done it yet as we're a little bit behind you but, CONGRATULATIONS! :)

Our plan after arrival is this -

    1)Apply for Marriage Licence

2)Visit local Social Security Office with this info as proof that you can obtain a SSN - I'm going to highlight section C (they are gonna love me! Ha!)

3)Visit the Civil Surgeon we have an appointment with to get my vaccines transcribed onto the I-693 ready for AOS.

Then after we get married -

1)Obtain Certified Copy of Marriage Licence for AOS

2)Send off the completed I-485 (application for adjustment of status), Advance Parole & Employment Authorisation Document.

3)Visit the local Social Security Office again to change my name and present my EAD (when it arrives)

    4)Look for work! :)

I think thats right, but anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hope that helps!

  10. Hi everyone, I'll be moving to NJ on the 31st, this month and need to get this sorted too. But I have a few questions, if anyone wouldnt mind answering. Thank you so much! All this is a minefield!

•I don't have the DS-3025, but I was given a copy of the worksheet at my medical. Will this be a problem? If you don't have the actual DS-3025, will the worksheet and your records suffice?

•I am missing TDAP & MMR. Would you all advise I have this done now (in the UK) and if so, will the civil surgeon accept a letter from my doctor saying I've had these two vaccines after my medical?

•Or should I wait and get it all done in the US by the civil surgeon? Money is really tight in our case so I'm hoping I can get tham done here for free.

•If you get your shots done in the US, should they be done before or after marriage?

•Can you obtain a Civil Surgeon outside of your state? - There are not many recommended CS's in NJ, but a few in NYC. Would this be ok?

  11. So I have been reading on the USCIS website about the AOS form I-1485 and then I saw that he said Supplement A to Form I-485 was needed on top of the I-1485. Is this only for a certain situation or does everyone Adjusting their status have to file this along with the I-1485? Man that's another $1,000 on top of the $1,010. Thanks all :)

I don't know what Supplement A is but you definitely dont have to pay another $1,000. The fee for AOS is still $1,010. To file for AP and EAD is free.
