  1. Citizenship process at Denver, CO does not take 6 months, it's only around 4 months. Could you please explain what are the reasons of thinking why your wife's application would be denied?

  3. Thank you everyone! I'm feeling better. The history/civic questions part and the actual interview were conducted by two different IO. I blazed through the first part, that IO was really nice and said good job!

Here comes the second part which is completely opposite: first thing I noticed when I entered the IO's office was that her radio is on. It wasn't loud, she put it kind of low, may be she thought that no one would notice, but it was loud enough that I can recognized the radio station was playing gospel music. I have no disrespect to any religion but I wasn't comfortable because it distracted me. Second thing she did was stared out the window for five seconds, I wasn't sure what she was staring at but I feel that she was very unprofessional based on her actions. After the sworn for telling truth, she started asking for all the documents and I gave her everything. She spoke softly and she seems annoyed and impatient as I had to ask her to repeat some of the questions she asked. Then I took out my pen and note book, she asked in a rude manner "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". I replied that I am going to take some notes and she said this is not a class, you don't have to take notes. She then guaranteed me that she will give me a copy of everything that she's going to write down (of course she lied and didn't fulfill her guarantee at the end). I told her that I've written down some questions that I would like to address and asked her if I'm not allowed to write down anything. She said in a very smug voice "I've been at this for many years and I've never seen anything like this but I'm not against you to write down anything." My thought was that she is asking all the questions and writing down everything but am I not allowed to have my own questions and write down some reminders for myself in case I forget? I didn't feel like I had to explain my reasons with her anymore as I feel that she wouldn't be interested in listening. That whole ordeal about her was just ridiculous and I'm still kind of in shock that this kind of thing would happen; I sure wasn't prepared for that and I don't think someone else needs to prepare for this kind of rudeness, we didn't pay the massive application fee just to have someone spit on us. It really wasn't a pleasant experience. I don't plan on filing any formal complaint as it would just waste more of my time, I wouldn't curse or wish any bad things happen to her but I do believe in karma. What comes around goes around, if it hasn't, then it's not time yet. I just hope to be done with the oath in a month and let that be the end of dealing with USCIS.

  4. I passed as well. IO was rude so it wasn't a pleasant experience. I'm too upset right now and don't even want to talk about what happened. Just know that I was approved, the next oath date is Sept. 22nd, and if nothing goes worse, oath letter will come in the mail. Hopefully that would be the end of dealing with USCIS and I guarantee that they will never get another dime out of me.

  5. Call the USCIS 800 number which showed on your notice and talk to cust. rep and make another appoinment for Biometrics. I would suggest you, trying to go the original schedule date, otherwise it will delay your case processing. Sometimes Biometric helps to kick ur case from one desk to another desk. Anyways, Good luck.

I seriously doubt that talking with the mis-information line could make you another appointment. If you would like to re-schedule, you need to follow instruction to mail the letter back.

  6. I've got my citizenship interview next month.

Today I got a yellow letter, asking me to bring proof of previous divorces.

We submitted all this stuff with the original package.

Any ideas why they're asking again??

Just be sure to bring the originals, may be they didn't see it with what you've already submitted, you know out of the big pile of paper, just somebody's careless mistake.

  7. Hmm, intriguing. Didn't know walk-ins were an option. The appointment is for 9/8. Our local office is in Milwaukee (my profile is out of date); how do I determine if this office allows walk-ins?

    https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.detail&office=MIL&OfficeLocator.office_type=LO&OfficeLocator.statecode=WI

says "In order to visit... you must have an appointment scheduled." This isn't a clear yes or no for early walk-ins.... advice?

    Thanks so much.

If any VJers are in Milwaukee office and had walk in experience please share. Other than that, there's really no other way to find out if they allow walk-in unless you go there and try yourself. There's not a phone number for local ASC but even if they do, they can't tell you they allow walk-in anyways because they don't encourage it. Some office will say that they're busy at the moment and tell you to come back at a later time on the same day. Some office may tell you to come back on a certain day of a week because they're less busy on that day. Some office just let you walk in and give you a little grief or guilt but they still let you do it because you're already there. Just try walking in, no harm no foul if they don't let you, then you can reschedule.

  8. No, the online status doesn't show the FP appointment date. Misinformation line wouldn't know either but if you can somehow convince the first person who answer the phone to transfer you to an IO, then the IO should be able to tell you the date bearing that the FP letter had already been issued. But I bet you can walk in once you received the FP letter, would that help arranging your trip?

  9. Jasminelilly- From the looks of it...You sound like you are totally prepared for the interview....

Other than relax, study/review, get plenty of rest beforehand, arrive early/on time, dress appropriately, and make sure you have all your priginal paperwork/evidence required in case you ask you such...

I don't have much else to say..As you're already prepared for the interview already!

I wish you all the best and hope you do well for your interview..

And yes, do post about your experiences here on VJ too

    Good luck....:)

    Ant

    Ant,

Thank you for the good wishes! Can't wait for it to be over! How've you been doing?

    jasminelily

  10. all except the rent agreement - the USCIS specifically mentions that.

If you own the house then purchase agreement and/or mortage

You didn't mention that but presumably you submitted it

hope you remember what kind of wood george washington's teeth were made from....

Thank you for your advice! Lol... I don't know which kind of wood, is that maple or cherry?? Or may be oak? Aspen?

I didn't submit our mortgage paper but did submitted some cashed check of joint account from online banking for our mortgage payment. For the mortgage paper, the loan people wanted hubby to sign eligibly which is a huge difference from hubby's own signature so I don't think that can serve as a proof. I didn't see the requirement to submitting mortgage for people who hasn't taken trips longer than 6 months, but I guess I will bring my original mortgage paper anyways, just to be on the safe side!

  11. I have my interview on Monday too Jasminelily and I am so nervous!

I have a copy of anything I submitted and I did not get a yellow letter so I assume they have all the need. I plan to take everything with me just to be sure (originals where possible).

I am jsut getting anxious and want to get it over with ...

Good luck to you and if anyone else has any more tips for us; please share!

I'm a little nervous as well, not that I'm not well prepared but I'm just afraid that something is going to go wrong and out of my imagination.

I'm bringing all the originals as well, just anything I can think of and as much as I can carry.

My hubby has to work so he won't be there. We just can't afford for the both of us to take a day off under this economy. Hopefully with all the evidence I bring, they won't still be thinking that our marriage is fraud.

Best of luck to the both of us!! Praying that we will both have a nice IO!

  12. I'm having my interview next Monday. I would greatly appreciate if anyone have tips or advises.

I've been studying the 100 civic and history questions. I've already printed out the driving directions.

Applying based on 3 year marriage, I've got a box of evidence:

    -driver license

    -expired passport and current passport

    -hubby's birth certificate

    -marriage license

-conditional GC and 10 year GC

    -3 year IRS tax transcripts

-2 extra passport photos in case they don't like the ones I submitted

-evidence to prove that we're still together: electricity bills, bank statements, auto insurance, pictures, etc.

Am I missing anything? Thank you in advance!

  13. It's the 1800 number listed on the NOA and yes they are clueless, the best they can do is to put in a service request for you. Unless you have a very good reason, they won't transfer you to a real IO, but if you want to ask why you have two different case numbers, you can ask for a real IO, I think that is a good reason, I kind of want to know why myself. I made sure it's exactly a month before I call. I told them the online status said the usual cases will have FP appointment within a month but I didn't get my FP letter within a month so my case isn't normal, then the lady put in a service request, I actually got a response in e-mail the same afternoon that said "your case has been transfer to local ASC waiting for schedule" and if nothing happens for another 45 days, call them back. I was going to call them back in another two weeks or so but I got the FP letter before that. Anything else you want to know?
