  1. In order to get a visitor's visa to the US, he has to prove "ties" to JA and intent to return - So a substantial amount of money in the bank, owning property in his name alone, his own business, having kids, etc.... It's not easy - read through some of the embassy experiences and you will see comments on how many people were there applying for a visitor visa - It's a ####### shoot - There is no set criteria, it's solely at the discretion of the officer.

    there u go..perfect

Exactly and not to be a downer, you can have all that and then SOME and still get turned down. I have friends and family who had all that and didn't get through and I also have family members who did'nt have as much and got their visitor's visa. I don't know how they decided. I'm also guess it's how well you interview.

sounds a little like not what you know, but WHO you know...

  2. sus, I have only been here since morning but I like you spirit B)

I never ridiculed anyone, but I did wonder why they chose to take on such a journey. The road is not easy from what I understand...

What I did not understand was how if you really love someone, there is no road too rocky...

    Nice line - Welcome JAPrincess

This place is a LOT more open minded than where I come from on the WWW ;)

If you are lurking on JA boards, I am sure we can guess which one -

Come on down to the Yardies - don't try to keep up, just jump into the conversation - it's a typical JA party - a million topics at once

    Lurking? I hate lurkers :bonk:

    lol a joke...

But I am sure you can guess which site anyway

Just don't tell them I'm here :innocent:

I look forward to spending some time with people who understand, and believe that not every person in JA is using their foreigner for a green card :bonk:

    :D

I am sad to hear the visitors visa is not so easy to get :(

Time will tell what is the best route for me...

again, thanks for the welcome! B)

  5. Hello good people...

I have been going to Jamaica for many years. I have had my fun, made good friends and come back home.

I have never entertained the idea of a long distance relationship, let alone a visa journey.

    BUT...

In the words of Beres Hammond... "what one dance can do" :D

Love truly knows no boundaries and when it happens, we must accept it with open arms. Life is too short not to.

So here I am, looking for people in the same situation, and trying to learn all I can about what may be ahead.

I am interested in first getting him a visitors visa to test the waters...

Have any of you done this? Care to share some insight with a newbie???

I will look around and try to learn from the information already posted here instead of ask ten billion questions.

Just letting ya'll know there is a newbie in the house
