  1. I just want to see a good game, but I think the Steelers are too big & physical for the Cards to handle. When Philly started blitzing in the second half (Steelers blitz a lot, I think the most in the NFL) the Cards were outplayed.

They won that game, so they weren't outplayed. In the 30 years I've been watching the N.F.L I can't tell you how many times I've seen teams let leads like that slip away in the second half. The better team almost always pulls out the victory though.

When Pittsburgh starts blitzing (probably on the first play) Warner will start dumping it short. Look for a lot of slants and screen plays. The only problem with that strategy is Troy Polamalu. That guy is a freaking beast and may be one of the best defensive players the N.F.L. has ever seen.

I'm a Browns fan, so I was born hating the Steelers. I'll give them credit, they are obviously a quality organization. You can believe me when I tell you I am not jealous though. Some of their fans are what have made me hate them. I just saw one today in Modesto, sporting his BRAND NEW Steelers jersey. I was wearing my old, worn out Browns t-shirt. I bought it when they were losing. I know this because I bought it within the last 15 years. I resisted the temptation to say something, because what would I really say? He was pretty big too. I'm always amazed at how many fans materialize when a team starts winning. I'm sure the Cardinals have seen a spike in their sales as well.

The Cardinals give hope to all the sorry a$$ teams out there, like the Browns. GO CARDS!

TOKYO - Aspiring English speakers in Japan have made President Barack Obama's book of speeches and accompanying CD a national best-seller.

In Aichi, central Japan, a Buddhist monk has reportedly been playing the president's speeches during his temple service. And dozens of students in an English-language class in Tokyo have been memorizing his 2004 Democratic Convention speech to improve their understanding and pronunciation.

"Tonight is a particular honor for me because, let's face it, my presence on this stage is pretty unlikely," the students at Kaplan Japan school recited together Friday.

"The Speeches of Barack Obama" has sold 420,000 copies since its release on Nov. 20 — an "unprecedented huge hit" for an English-language text, according to publisher Asahi Press.

Any book that sells more than 100,000 copies in Japan, which has a population of 128 million, is considered a success, and foreign-language publication sales rarely exceed 20,000, the publisher said.

Obama's book of speeches surged to No. 2 in Japan's main best-seller list this week, according to Hiroki Tomatsu, an official of Japan's largest book distributor Tohan Co. that publishes the ranking.

The 95-page book compiles Obama's speeches including the one at the 2004 convention, many from the party primaries, and his victory speech after he beat Hillary Rodham Clinton to secure the Democratic nomination. Each English-language transcript comes with a Japanese translation.

Although the simplicity of campaign speeches makes them an obvious choice as a language-learning tool, other American presidents have rarely been so feted.

"We don't publish every single president's speeches," Asahi Press official Yuzo Yamamoto said. "Would you buy the text of former President George W. Bush's speeches?"

  3. I also didn't vote for either. There were other candidates. This supposed economic stimulas plan is not the largest. It will end up being after the two sides get together and they add the ####### rthat is usual. It is the same old failed plan that the other party did. Huge spending. Big Tax cuts that equal a huge deficit that is very harmful. This is not change.

Closing Gitmo only means the prisoners move elsewhere. Just because he is making gestures that are meaningless does not mean he is bringing change. He is doing the same old failed of policies.

You could always go live in Vietnam.

Why would I live there? I love where I live now. If you are saying that I should live out of the states because I don't like the two political parties that most vote then you are a moron.

Ever take that I.Q. test Tex?

  4. is Burn after reading nominated? i watched it last night, and it was awesome..

For Best Original Screenplay. I haven't seen that yet, but you really can't go wrong with a Coen Brothers movie IMHO. I watched "No Country for Old Men" recently. I didn't really care for the end, but it's still a pretty good movie.

After winning his Golden Globe, Rourke thanked "all my dogs — the ones that are here and the ones that aren't here anymore — because sometimes when a man's alone, that's all you got is your dog, and they meant the world to me."

  5. Cards cheerleaders vs. Steeler chearleaders

    I'm in the Zona!

Steelers don't need cheerleaders!!! thats why they called it "SUPER BOWL"!!! not the " CHEERLEADERS "!!!!!:dance::dance:

I hear the Steelers wear pink underwear as part of their uniform.

I heard they wear them in street clothes too.

  6. I've been living in the US for many years now, for school and for work. I lived in Baltimore for a couple years, then in Charleston WV, and now in Norfolk, VA. Everywhere people have always been nice and friendly. Most Americans are usually worried of what foreigners think of them.

How did you like Charleston? It's my hometown. BE HONEST!

I rememeber having a cashier in Edmonton tell me I was mistaken, that there were in fact 51 States. She was sure of it.

  7. I agree boo boo it should but most likely will not. it can't even show at all movie theaters.

yo Jo did you see it ??

No, I'm sorry. I have a few weeks to drive from Naples, Fl. to Yakima, Wa. I'll be out there next Monday, so I'll go then. Florida is a pain in the a$$ if you're driving a Semi, even without a trailer.

O.K. I finally saw it (I'm formerly Joe SP). It was good and worth the price of admission, but....I liked Benjamin Button and Gran Torino more. :D

  8. Glad to hear you're O.K.. It could easily happen in Canada as well though.

Intruder killed in foiled home invasion

    Jamie Komarnicki, Calgary Herald

    Published: Thursday, January 03, 2008

CALGARY - A man and woman lay sleeping in bed when two intruders forced their way into the couple's rented Alberta farmhouse Thursday.

It was around 3:30 a.m. local time when the attackers broke in through a side door in the home about 20 kilometres east of Calgary.

The home's 35-year-old occupant was slightly injured, while his 24-year-old girlfriend was unhurt.

The two parties knew each other - though RCMP aren't saying how.

But investigators say the deadly home invasion leaves many questions unanswered.

"It is an unusual case. It doesn't happen very often. To have a deceased person, a home invasion where an attacker ends up deceased, is pretty rare," said RCMP Const. Patty Neely.

One of the biggest hurdles investigators face is determining what charges to lay - and who will be charged, she said.

"It is a homicide; (the intruder) didn't die accidentally. Whether or not it's murder isn't clear."

Gang and drug ties have been ruled out as motives in the case, said Neely, and no one involved is a "well-known, hardened criminal," she said.

She couldn't say if the intruders brandished any weapons when they entered the couple's bedroom.

The 35-year-old occupant called police around 3:30 a.m. local time to say two men had broken into his house. One was wounded, he said, while the other fled the scene.

By the time RCMP arrived, the 32-year-old intruder had died on scene.

His 27-year-old partner fled the scene with severe stab wounds. He later turned up at Strathmore hospital, about 50 kilometres east of Calgary. He was then taken to Calgary for treatment, Neely said.

An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death of the 32-year-old, who is from the Strathmore area.

  9. while you're at it can we see the hilarious videos of you scaring your wife again?

I'll upload them tonight. I just found where I put them the other day. I'm going back next month, so there's sure to be more.

So someone got suspended for dissing Marc? HAHA now we all know who the nerd and whiner is.

Like I said, I locked myself out. I have no idea if there was a suspension, but I feel it warranted one.

Glad to see you back here, Joe and it's commendable that you apologized, although sending them an apology in a PM would have been ideal, IMO. :)

    .......

Chalk it up to experience. Some love to bait here...and some just like to stir sh!t.

I slung mud in public, so I can apologize in public.

  10. Never apologize to people who don't make a habit of apologizing themselves.

Let me clarify. I am apologizing to Marc's Wife and I was way out of line in the post I edited regarding Nagikshaw's health.
