  3. Bamboo Lane... is that the rode that's lined with bamboo trees on either side? If so, we drove down that on our way from Negril to Alligator Pond. That's where we went to eat at Little Ochi... and where Steven proposed.

Nat, Thats where my SO is from. There is a place right around the corner from Little Ochi called Bunch a Grape, their fish is so much better

  4. I really do....it's been tortuous to just wait. Now i can really enjoy making some plans.....i'm going on Sidestep right now to plan my dates. It sure would be nice to have him fly back, but it seems so unpredictable. Just hoping for the best....for all of us on VJ.

Dillon...you back already? your report makes it sound pretty easy.......and we've rehearsed those questions so many times. i'm hoping to stay for 2 weeks...Yes, i need some loving and warm water to swim in.

    only....???...39 days! Jah Love!

Congrats Culture and God's blessing on your interview day

Proof That The World Is Nuts

In Lebanon , men are legally allowed to have sex with animals, but the

animals must be female. Having sexual relations with a male animal is

    punishable by death.

    (Like THAT makes sense..)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In Bahrain , a male doctor may legally examine a woman's genitals, but is

prohibited from looking directly at them during the examination. He may

only see their reflection in a mirror.

    (Do they look different reversed?)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Muslims are banned from looking at the genitals of a corpse. This also

applies to undertakers. The sex organs of the deceased must be covered

with a brick or piece of wood at all times.

    (A brick?)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The penalty for masturbation in Indonesia is decapitation.

    (Much worse than 'going blind!')

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

There are men in Guam whose full-time job is to travel the countryside

and deflower young virgins, who pay them for the privilege of having sex

    for the first time

Reason: under Guam law, it is expressly forbidden for virgins to marry.

(Let's just think for a minute; is there any job anywhere else in the

world that even comes close to this?)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In Hong Kong , a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her adulterous

husband, but may only do so with her bare hands.

The husband's illicit lover, on the other hand, may be killed in any

    manner desired.

    (Ah! Justice!)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool , England - but only in

    tropical fish stores.

    (But of course!)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In Cali , Colombia , a woman may only have sex with her husband, and the

first time this happens, her mother must be in the room to witness the

    act.

(Makes one shudder at the thought.)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In Santa Cruz , Bolivia , it is illegal for a man to have sex with a woman

and her daughter at the same time.

(I presume this was a big enough problem that they had to pass this

    law?)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In Maryland , it is illegal to sell condoms from vending machines with

one exception: Prophylactics may be dispensed from a vending machine

only 'in places where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on

    the premises.'

(Is this a great country or what?

Well, not as great as Guam !)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour..

    (Who volunteers for these tests?)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The ant can lift 50 times its own weight, can pull 30 times its own

weight and always falls over on its right side when intoxicated.

    (From drinking little bottles of?)

(Did our government pay for this research??)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

    Butterflies taste with their feet.

    (Ah, geez.)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

(I know some people like that.)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

    Starfish don't have brains.

(I know some people like that, too.)

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

    And, the best for last?

Turtles can breathe through their butts.

(And I thought I had bad breath in the morning!)

  8. My guy recently paid 150 us for 5 vaccines at mobayhope, plus a tip 'to make it good'...whatever the going bribery charge is. The police records cost $100 us. I never believe in the set fee...it is all subject to change ..and who's asking.

If anyone needs a great place to stay close to Mobay airport...my friend in Coral Garden has a villa up on the hill, awesome views, safe...3 gen of women, cooking up the best homestyle , very reasonable rates for both rooms in the main house and a single studio apt/kitchenette. These people are GREAT and can take great care of both short or longer visits. Hit me up for details if you like.

ya know this economy is hitting Jamaica real hard, and i get lots of requests to help out. i'm almost about to change my number ...but waiting to get this interview passage to go thru, then many changes ahead. But how do you deal with the money requests...or bring this/that for everyone...and those you haven't met yet!!!

Oh, i'm dying for some spooning........ (L)

Do what I do, I start saying how things are difficult and its hard having to take care of everything. If I dont pay my bills mi afi guh live a road. Or when they say I am here looking at you the better one, so wah u can do fi mi. My response is me mash up more than you so tell me how me a di betta one. At least yuh nah pay rent r nuh bills. So now when I go to jamaica no one beg anything. If they get something they are happy and if don't, then they are not surprised. I am not mining no grown a**. I work toooooooooooooo hard for my money

Ladies How much did you pay for your SO's to get vaccines?? They are charging over 200.00US

From what research I've done, that's about the same price I'm getting too. If I found out anything different, I'll post in the 'post-NOA2' thread.

I'm confused about the police certificate. I thought you had to get it from the places you lived since 16, but after reading more it looks like you get it in Kingston (even if you never lived there). So does my SO just need to get it in Kingston for all the places he lived? Also, will they mail it to him or does he have to go back down there and pick it up? I understand it's not given that day.

I think he can have it mailed but with the mail system being kinda unreliable, many prefer to pick it up.

    Good night ladies,

The jamaican resturants on howard street in evanston don't cook good. When I was pregnant last year and I just felt for some curry goat and I drove down there i had to throw the food away because all that was in there was oil and it didn't taste good. You would do better to cook it yourself

Can someone tell me what vaccines that they will need you to get.

    Thanks

There's a list on the medical exam that you can find on the Kingston Embassy web site I believe. You may be able to search VJ caribbean section to find a thread on it and I know it's been posted other places. Oh yeah, it's under the Jamaican embassy info so check there.

    Okay, goodnight all!

    Thanks for the info.

  10. Good morning Ladies,

I congrates to all, I am sorry to hear about the bad news and God will see us through all that we go through and remember he never puts us in a situation until he see our way out.

I have a quick question. A friend of mine dad lives up here and his dad is planning on filing for him and is family (wife and two kids). Will they need to full out a I 130 for each person or just one with the family info on there.

    Thanks for the help

  11. :crying:

Ok so i have been trying to keep busy today with getting caught up at work. I emailed my best best friend in the whole world to let her know about me and Dwayne getting married and she just totally knocked the wind out of my sails, it feels like a kick in the teeth. SHe is saying what the bible has said about being equally yoked and the man being responsible for taking care of his household, she has seen me running back and forth to JA every three months spending my money and is he helping to pay for these trips, is he in a position to help take care of me and the boys, etc... she says she is at the computer crying because she has been holding on to long to this and has been wanting to tell me, and that i need to consult ephesians and talk to god and really listen. I swear, me and her have known each other since grade school and i just want some freaking support from my so called friends, HELL now im crying, and trying to hold it together at work...SHYT...i know my friends dont want to see me hurt and the such but DYAM it seems like every where i turn people are against me from the word go....

SOrry i just needed to vent, guess i will close my door to my office so i can get myself together.. she said she doesnt know about coming to JA but she will be there in spirit and that she has financial issues and two prior engagements back to back in july. You guys have no idea how it feels to feel so PHOCKING abandoned by your closest friends because of who you choose to fall in love with.( or maybe you do) matter of fact i know you do... i dont even know what to say to her, i dont want to feel like i have to defend my decision to her or anyone but dyam she has had my back since day one, she was always the one i ran to when we were kids and i needed a shoulder and now as an adult, #######?? can no one credit me for having phocking common sense because i met a man in another country, and love him.. :crying:

Oh Mz Honey, I am so sorry to hear this I know what you are going through cause that sounds like my Mamma's exact words. As far as you talking to God, I am sure you have soul searched and had personal conversations with the creator regarding your decision. The key word is "your" decision. It's impossible for people on the outside looking in to truly understand the complexity of the situation. Although they care about you and think that they are making you "see" the light they aren't being supportive and a true friend will support you no matter what 100%.

Yeah yeah yeah it would be nice to be equally yoked but unfortunately Love doesn't come wrapped in the perfect package, but that doesn't make the Love you share less than!

This is the exact reason my azz got married on the mountain top, only my Hubby our Pastor and an Auntie who lived nearby cause I was tired of hearing all the chatter, so trust me I know what you are feeling. It's your life Mz. Honey and people will always talk but only you know what is best for you (L)

    JaHoney,

I don't want to over step my bonds but like everyone say trust in your decision that you are making. You know yourself and know whats good for you and will know when to get away from something that is not good for you. He might not be equally yoke to you right now but who to tell what the future holds, the shoe might be on the other foot. A lot of people love to talk about 50/50 relationship but it don't always work out like that. There are going to be times that you will have to give 90 and him 10 and vice versa. Just pray about it and live you life. No knows the in and outs of what you share with your husband to be. The best in your face is to have a loving and happy marriage. I used to say I won't marry any man from Ja because they come here and then give all kind of hell. But I look at it this way, a man here can put your through all kind of hell. Live you life for you and not for anyone else, if they don't like how you live your life, they can keep it to themselves. Cheer up and feel better

  12. I am new to VJ and have enjoyed reading all the stories you ladies have put up.

I knew about my SO before I even met him. His company was sending him for training at my company so I was in constant contact with his manager. His manager was so detailed and wanted to know ever little information. It was so bad that I thought that he must be a bit slow even though his boss told me that this would be his first time leaving the country....

Well a month before he came, I remember I was crying to my aunt about lonely I am and she said when you go to Jamaica, why don't you see if you can find a friend to correspond with. I told her I didn't want any man from JA because of all the stories I have heard and seen for myself. I left the argument like that went to JA, had fun and came back home to my misery.

I prayed a week before I met my SO and left it at that. I remember talking to a friend of mine and I was telling her that a customer was coming from JA. She said that I was going to get a man, but I replied please….. more than likely he will be short, bald and bad looking.

So finally the day arrived that he was coming for class. I saw two people get off of a shuttle from the hotel, went out and introduce myself. Turns out he was nothing I thought he would be….. He was tall, not bald and definitely HANDSOME. I normally just give the customers a quick run down of the events for the day and that would be last they saw me until they was ready to leave. But not that week…. I just kept going by the class to make sure he saw me. When the end of day one came I asked him if he would like to go sight seeing even though it was cold as heck. We went; I took him back to his hotel. The same thing happened the next day but his time we stayed out longer and spoke longer. I even offered to help him take some things to his room. Mind you I am normally never going to do something like this. I called him to let him know I was home and we talked to the wee hours of the night. The next night I brought him to hang out a few friends of mine which are all guys and I left him for an hour and came back to get him. We stood outside talking for about 3 hours while it was cold. The next night he took me to dinner to show his appreciation and we sat there for about 4 hours and the waiter kept coming by asking if we were okay. I took him back to his hotel and just left ( he later told me that he thought that I was no longer interested in him, I told him I had to keep him on his toes.) all during the week I was being teased at work that he was my husband, boyfriend or friend. The last night that he was here I took him into the city. First we went to the wrong train station. Then when we got to the right station and got on the train. He goes, so….. which one would you prefer Friend, Boyfriend or Husband so I looked at him asked him Why….. that made him take a few deep breaths, he said because I would like to take this further than just friends and I said me too with a big smile on my face. We got married had a baby and will be celebrating being together two years on March 16. My aunt said that Jamaica came to me.:)

Oh yeah I got us lost on our way back. :) lol
