  1. Ok guys, found the two of you hiding in here :P Either of you can tell me what happens now? Today my I-797 came in the mail. Any threads you've found concerning K1's and the NVC?

im working with a lawyer...i called NVC today and they received my case so they will foward it to the consulate then i balieve they send u packet 3 with a checklist fill the forms out correctly and somewere befor that comes AOS i hope im not confusing u

firdaus, you are a bit confused... ;)AOS comes after you're married... Ivan, my case only spent two days at NVC. I hope it will be the same for you, because then you won't need any threads about K-1s at NVC. If you do want to spend some time worrying about possible AP there (like I did, the queen of preemptive worrying), there is a forum here for the NVC that has a sticky about that...But hopefully you won't have to deal with that! You can call NVC and find out if they received your case, and also if they mailed it on to the consulate.

NatPatBen, that sucks that you can't do the medical before you have the interview date! I did my medical a month ago, although I could only give them the case number from NVC now, which is needed so it will get matched up with my file in Frankfurt. I hope they send it there soon now.

In Germany the consulate will not give you an interview date before they have received the checklist and know you have all documents. So I just mailed them everything they need at once, once I knew they had received my file.

  2. Packet 3 is mailed to the beneficiary and completed by her/him. Once the petition is approved by USCIS, all the USC needs to do is send the beneficiary the affidavit of support and an updated statement of intent. The ball is now in the visa applicant's court.

  3. The consulate told me that they received my file and mailed out packet 3 on Friday, but I haven't received it yet. Nonetheless, today I mailed them everything they need from me to schedule an interview. I'm hoping I'll get one fast... Trying to catch up after the relatively long wait at USCIS!

Good luck to everyone still waiting... At least NVC seems to be quicker these days than a few months ago.

philosykos maybe you can help me what exactly did u send to the consulate for the interview im acually working on it now and im a little confused???did u send packet 3 befor u received it and if u did let me kno what documents and forms u send thank u so much its great having someone from the same consulate within the same timeframe

Yes, I sent the forms, checklist, and passport copies before I had received packet 3, because I heard from the consulate that they have mailed it out, and I didn't want to lose time waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I followed the instructions on this page: http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/kv_processing.html

  5. When I had my medical, the doctor didn't want to give the the TdaP shot because I had very recently had a Td shot, so he marked "insufficient time interval". Now I read in the HPV thread that vaccine waiver requests can add months to your timeline. Is that true for the kind of waiver I was marked for?

(If it is true, I better get that shot, even though I had a bad reaction to the Td shot and would thus rather not do it again at such a short interval... :( )

  6. I am filling out the forms for packet 3 today, which I intend to mail tomorrow. I just got to Form DS-157, question 17, where I'm supposed to list all educational institutions except elementary schools.

In the dates column, they ask for an mm-dd-yyyy format. I have attended two different highschools (Germany and US), and a total of six different universities (that's relatively normal in Germany if you do a number of study abroad programs, move once within Germany, and study in Berlin where you can split your course of study between different local schools, and stay in school all the way to the PhD). I can sort of reconstruct the MONTHS, but I frankly have no idea about the exact DAYS I started or finished. Will this be a problem? Shall I guess, or just give the months only?

    Many thanks in advance!

  7. Yay, congratulations, NatPatBen!!!

  8. That would be the current address.

...If she lived there for more than a year, if I understand that question correctly. I gave them the address before my previous address outside the US, because I hadn't lived at neither my current nor at my previous address for more than a year. The last address where I lived for more than a year outside the US was four years ago, and preceded my last two-year stay in the US.

I thought it was a pretty odd question, given the answer it required in my case. Why would that Bavarian address of four years ago be of particular interest to them?

  9. It really depends. Some are more helpful than others. Ours made several inquiries even though we were not at 6 months yet. He also said he knows the people at USCIS he is talking to, and seemed to be able to get some real time information. He got the officers he talked to to go and speak with the adjudicator's office directly to find out what was actually going on. I think he did make things move more quickly.

  10. Congratulations, Philosykos!! :star:

It's great that your congresswoman's staff actually assisted you. Mine told me that they're on cases from Nov 25 (despite that being as of April 30) and did nothing on my behalf.

Thanks! :) Yes, I know we were very lucky with her, and with her caseworker. My fiancé should bring them a fruit basket and some cookies! Senators and reps really seem to have a lot of leeway in what they CAN do if they care to... Sorry you are not so lucky with yours. Now that you are out of processing time, though, don't they have to do something? I thought the USCIS website had switched to a 6 months processing time?

  11. We're finally approved, after 5 1/2 long months... I still can't believe it! I'm very relieved and happy. :star: Now we can have our wedding in October as planned! (Yes, we have been planning the wedding... That added to my stress about when we'd get the visa, and I wouldn't recommend it.)

Our congresswoman has been incredibly helpful, and I'm inclined to think she helped move things along. She has a very good immigration caseworker, who was willing to inquire even before we had waited six months, and knows the USCIS people.

I wish you all who are still waiting best of luck! I know the worst thing is not knowing how long you have to wait, and thinking it might take forever... even if one knows that it will most likely happen soon.

  12. I don't think you need a police certificate from the Czech Republic, as you have only lived there eight months:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...es_1308.html#pc

Be careful with this reference as it may or may not apply to K visas and each consulate is allowed some latitude. Kiev requires a police certificate if the applicant lived in another country for more than 6 months after age 16. I even have an email from them saying that a student is exempt from this if they lived in another country for less than one year...and another saying that is a mistake and to provide a police certificate in the case of our oldest son's K-2. Check with the consulate or follow their instruction for documents "checklist"

However, police certificates are not available in all countries for all persons and in that case, you do not need to get one. Somewhere on this site is a listing of countries and which do not have police certificates available. I have seen the link posted mant times, but do not have it. I am sure someone will come along with it.

    Gary

Thanks guys, i was not to sure i would need the one from Prague, but, thought better to have it than not.

I guess i will just wait and see what happens, thanks again.

Doesn't your consulate state what you need on their website? Frankfurt goes exactly by those State Department guidelines I posted, and they say it on their website.

  13. Yeah, we're still in limbo as well, and we'll hit the six months mark in two weeks. That mysterious RFE was removed, but still nothing... We are contacting our congresswoman again on Monday. Her caseworker seems to be able to get some real time information from them.

It is really depressing to see that all but a few January filers have been approved (some of those still listed as unapproved on Igor's List haven't been seen here for months, so they are probably approved as well). Good for them, but it is terrible to be left behind and not know why.

man what a waist of a week...hitting the 5 month mark in 2 days i guess its not that bad.. hope it comes soon for all of uss
  14. MrsB's reluctance to fill in her timeline seems to be due to a lack of understanding of the fact that the 'official' timelines here feed a database that in turn generates statistics upon which many people here rely when trying to anticipate the length of their visa process. Otherwise she couldn't be thinking that giving the info in a thread fulfills the same purpose.

I am very sorry for what you are going through, MrsB, and I understand how extremely frustrated (and upset!) you must be (and sorry, but your posts just don't speak of Finnish equanimity), but I have to say that jundp's reaction to your snappy remark was entirely understandable as well. She was in no way discounting your suffering (so comments about how she just doesn't understand what you are going through are completely off target), she was just asking you to help feed a database that many here find useful.

  15. we just called NVC and the woman said they dont have our case yet... it sucks ! huhuhu im just really praying hard tho we wont end up waiting for NVC to process our papers up to 90 days, well that's what the woman said; it takes usually 2-4 wks or up to 90 days...like wow..

well, i just offer it to God; im tired of waiting :(

If even the March filers start calling NVC now, they will probably soon outsource their phone service to a misinformation call center like USCIS has... I think this method should really be reserved for those cases where you can reasonably expect to be approved, but haven't heard anything yet.

  16. How long did she live there? She only needs it if it was more than 12 months. See http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...es_1308.html#pc

Does anyone know how we can obtain a criminal record report from when my fiancee lived in Belgium and Czech Republic--I know they're going to ask for this during his interview--and we are starting to panic because we cannot locate any resources on the internet etc.

Thanks anyone for any advice, recommendations or help
