  1. My husband and I went to our Initial Interview on 4/21/09 in Manchester NH.

The interview lasted maybe 20 mins - she took lease agreement, electricity bill, looked over at other

evidences and kept my husband I-94. She wasn't interested in pictures or anything for that matter.

She mostly conversed with my husband and asked very little of me other than my Nat Cert and the marriage

certificate and my husband's birth date. The older lady adjucator didn't give us an approval on the spot for the I-485 but did say that our

I-130 was approved. She said that we will hear of her decisions shortly - that she is waiting to have "some things to come through the

computer". She has not given us any RFE either. Wished us a good day and had the officer she was training escort us to the door.

My question is, I have seen on the website here that when people were called for a second interview or STOKES interview, it is

related to the I-130. When you are approved for the I-130, then there wouldnt be that much of a chance to be called in for a stokes

interview? I am a little nervous as she barely asked any questions, she didnt even asked for my birth certificate nor his.

I mean in my heart I know it went well but of course, I am playing games here in my own mind...

    Ugh, I just wanna know!!!!

  2. Isn't it weird that she didnt want to see any pictures? She didnt want to see his BC nor mine - nothing really. The thing that shocked me is that it seems that she didn't even look through our file at all beforehand! All of the evidence that she kept asking for was already submitted! It feels to me that she didn't even check anything. It made me feel kinda strange as like "she didn't do her homework" before meeting with us! Then couldn't even approve us on the spot even if we provided everything she requested! It angers me and make me feel like we did something wrong? We have a strong Bona Fide marriage!! The interview lasted maybe 20 mins - no RFEs either... I just want everything to be ok! I am dealing with a very impatient and negative hubby at the moment and its starting to make me nervous even though inside I am having a positive feeling about it all...

Sorry, I didn't sleep much last night :(

  3. INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE TODAY:

    Hello fellow VJers -

My husband and I went to our AOS interview today. The apt was at 8:40am in Manchester NH and they were about 50 mins late to take us in.

We brought with us a huge box with pictures, albums, papers and everything they asked us to bring on the interview letter.

The IO was an older female. She wasn't really outgoing, but not unpleasant either. She looked very serious and like she has been doing this

for years. She swore us in - and then the interview began...

She asked my husband how we met - what we do together.

She then turned and asked me my husband's birthdate - to see my Naturalization Certificate, our marriage certificate, common bills like electricity, lease,

our car insurance, health insurance... She then asked me if I decided to take my husband's name cause i filled out all my papers with my

maiden name and then I said that yes I did take his last name an showed her a copy of the letter from the SSA attesting that I changed my last name.

Asked me where I worked and what was my position/tittle - then asked us our home number and our cell phone number. Asked him if he's ever

worked illegally while he was visiting ( of course he never did. ) Then asked him how was he able to support himself when he visited me, he said that

his parents gave him some money and that I also provided a roof over his head, food and all the essentials.

She then asked my husband for his passport and she took the I-94W out of there and kept it - she asked to see the EAD and the AP - she looked

at them and returned them to us saying "You can keep those as they are valid documents". Asked also my husband his place of birth, when we got married

also asked if his parents were at the wedding and we said that we got married out of the blue and they couldn't come. She then asked him what made us

decide to get married when he was visiting - He said that we just couldn't bear being separated anymore... She said "yes, you have been away from each other quite

    often..."

She then said that the I-130 is approved - but that she "is waiting for some things to come through the computer" before she could approve the I-485.

We would receive a letter informing of her decisions. She asked my husband again for our address, wrote it down on a paper. She was also "training"

an officer, he was sitting next to her and he seemed friendly.

I think its a good sign that the I-130 was approved and that she kept the I-94W from his passport. She didn't even asked us to see pictures, letters, didn't even

ask us much about anything really. It was a very formal interview, pretty cut and dry. What I think is strange is that she could approve the I-130 and not the I-485 right

then, but I also think that since she was training a new officer, maybe she needed to show him all the steps and that all is in order with him without us being there.

We were not given any RFEs either... I just wished she could have told us we were all set - but she didn't say anything negative - so we'll take this as a positive

    outcome...

We hope to see the "Welcome to America" letter in the next few weeks!

  5. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I married the most tender, the most kind and the most loving man... we found each other through the internet. I am a vocalist and he's a film composer. We totally met out of the blue... He loved my voice and I loved his music... We started to collaborate and 3-4 months later decided to meet in real. We have been inseparable ever since - 3+ years later we got married.... He's just so incredible and i looooooooooove the fact that he's german. I think he is the sexiest man I have ever laid my eyes on with the MOST GORGEOUS BLUE eyes!... When I am in his arms, I feel so alive. I am in love with his whole person...

I tried to learn German, alas, I am terrible at it. He just laughs at me and say that I am sexy when I speak french. ( lol ) So I abandonned that idea for the moment... But trust me, i know the "naughty" words... ;)

  6. Wow!!!!! That is great news!!! Did you recieve an RFE?

NO RFE SO FAR!!! But I am bringing all the stuff with me at the interview in case they have questions... Like on the I864, I didn't fill in my gross income for 2007 and 2006. I have not gotten a RFE for this ( and thought for sure I'd get one ), but i'll bring my tax info with me in case.

And our interview time is 8:40AM, I hope the IO will be in a good mood and pleasant!!!!

  7. CINO -

you can add to the report that we got the EAD card in the mail on 04/13/09 :)

Kinda strange and perhaps pointless since we have our interview next Tuesday... :) BUT WE ARE HAPPY!!!

    Woo...

Look at my timeline as well... 68 days from filing to interview on 4/21/09

I am in NH. We have not received EAD nor AP... Perhaps we can all forgo this and get the greencard in hands :)

    Wouldn't that be something else?

now the stress starts - getting more stuff together for our interview :)

hi 'EtherealVocalist', i just wanna ask if your notice for interview says it's for "Initial Interview" coz i received noticed today for an initial interview this May 13. Thanks.

Yes it does say "Initial Interveiw". But I think they all do since it will be out first one... Perhaps I am wrong... We are super excited and grateful for all of this!

  8. My husband and I are adjusting from the VWP.

The interview is on 04/21/09 ( Next Tuesday ) and we are extremely nervous. we have everything ( and more ) in a box ready to dish out any type of evidence(s) if the IO asks for something! It's very un-powering to know that your future rests in a stranger's hands... I hate to feel this way.

But my husband and I have a bonafide marriage, real and very honest. Adjusting from the VWP is a pain actually - we had to have his parents ship boxes - we had to deal with the fact they couldn't attend ( but we promised that we'll have a reception this summer for them when we visit them in Germany ) etc... It's not a route I recommend to people especially the fact that you cannot appeal a denial.... It's nerve wrecking.

I'll keep you guys posted :) Send us many warm and positive thoughts :)

  9. My husband and I are adjusting from VWP, our interview is on 4/21/09. I cannot judge people's "conscience" or "what was the intent when first entering on the VWP" but we are prepared with the required documents to prove that he was due to go back home. His parents wrote a letter saying they were expecting him to come home so he could attend university. We have printed his return ticket and also a form from his University showing the classes he was enrolled for upon his return.

This subject is a touchy one on this forum - I posted before on this subject and got some heat from it... I think it angers people that have applied from the K-1 or the K-3 and the majority say that when people get married on the VWP, they are using a "forbidden" backdoor to avoid being separated while waiting. There are some risks... In the event of AOS denial, there is no possibility to "appeal" the decision. I have not heard nor read on this forum any denial due to VWP adjustement. Although, if you had a criminal record, or anything that look suspicious to the IO, you might get denied - but that is most likely not related by you adjusting on the VWP, the same scrutiny applies to everyone, and all have to go through an interview... It's about making sure that you have covered all the corners with documentation and ready to give it if asked for.

    Good luck!

  10. Hello everyone,

I want to ask about the doct. for AOS interview.

We'll have the interview in few weeks.

Here is our case ( my wife has US citzen, she was born in china, came to state 14 years ago. She is applying PR for me ).

I have my translated Birth Certificate Doct with me already for sure, but my wife only has original birth certificate , which is not tranlated yet).

My question is for the interview, do we need both for us ? Since she got her citizen long time ago, so is it required to bring her translated one to the interview ?

Please give us some GOOD advise .!! Appreciate~

I assume your wife was naturalized? I am in the same boat - I am only going to bring with me my Naturalization certificate.

Unless someone here has a better solution/info to offer. If you feel that she should get it translated, she can do it herself attesting that

she is fluent in english and in the original language to make the translation.
