  1. I've applied to a few jobs with nothing. When I call to get updates on the position, people give me the run around and I usually end up talking to a machine at reception.

Yesterday I applied for a job where one of the requirements was "able to laugh everyday". Sounds like a fun job, the salary sucks, but that's ok.

It's hard living in a small town... my MIL is hiring at her work, and she said she got SOOOOOOO many resumes... for a front desk dentist office position.

  2. I fixed my star craft problem. Called up Blizzard (only on hold for half an hour!), and the guy sent me the forms I need to fill out and send in with my CD sleeve. Once they get my stuff they'll send me a new key and remove it from the person's who returned it.

The guy was super nice, he even changed my last name for me without me having to fax in proof of ID (because I still have my key from my original vanilla case).

Also, we (alliance) actually have WG right now. So I log on and msg people who are looking for people for VOA. NO ONE answers. #######? Like, I msg you, no answer and you still spam trade chat saying you need ranged DPS. GRRR! I know my gs isn't the greatest, but last time I went I did pretty damn good.

  3. I've been staying home a lot as well and what I end up doing is canning and freezing a lot of stuff. It's pretty simple, just go down to the market and get some fruits or veggies in season and you can store them for winter!

I make a lot of stuff from my head, like last night I sliced up some sausage, cooked it with garlic, eggplant, zucchini and heirloom tomatoes ( and a bit of chicken stock) and served it on rice. It was really good.

  4. When I went to my interview they said it could take up to 2 weeks. I wouldn't freak out just yet. Try sending an email to montreal if you haven't yet, you might get a response. I did once. It's also summertime, and kids are going back to school n stuff, there might be a buncha people on vacation.

  5. Also funny side note, after we got back Kevin checked his mailbox. Lo and behold a certificate from the jewellers' we ordered the rings at, for discounts on any purchase, since he had been there before to get a watch fixed, and apparently they mail out "birthday presents" to customers (his birthday is in a few weeks). Man he was beating himself up for not checking his mail before we left. I think we got a pretty good deal though, got free laser engravings on both our rings. :)

Print out the cert, bring it with you and go back. They'll probably honor it.

  6. Grats! When I crossed on my visa, the guy at the booth treated me the same way. Had no idea what a K1 was and asked me how long I was going, even after I told him I was moving and getting married he still asked me when I was going back to Canada! He made a few phone calls and got it straight, and lied to me about not knowing anything about my visa lol.

  7. I leveled beast master just cause it was super easy. I'm a survival hunter now and I like it. I find it more challenging with the more complicated rotation.

Beast master can be fun tho, you can tame "spirit" pets... there's a nice rare one up in Storm Peaks.

  8. You can freeze watermelon? Really? it doesn't come out all mushy and flavorless? I love watermelon but my husband hates it. I can't eat a whole thing by myself, even the smaller ones, before it starts to go bad. If there was a way to freeze it, life would be easier.

Yeah but the consistency isn't the same. I have a recipe for watermelon muffins and watermelon ice cream. We're leaving for Canada tomorrow for a week, so I had to do something will all my produce!

  9. Did they give you your I94 or did you have to remind them? Did they charge you the $6 for it? And did they give you an EAD stamp?

I'm crossing there on Monday evening.

    Thanks!

Usually 1-94 costs $6 unless they forget to charge you. The only person I've heard of that didn't get an I-94 is Ashenflowers, and she POE'd at an airport. EAD stamp means nothing for K1s. Your social security card will still say you don't have work authorization.

  10. That is insane, first of all you have to wait 3 months for a freaking biometrics letter and then you can't even do a walk-in! I wish they expedited EAD's and biometric appointments for you and Colleens.

At this rate, when can we expect our actual green cards???

Mine took almost 6 months... and that was without any mess ups or RFE's. I just blame my bad luck for that tho. Hopefully yours will come sooner!

  11. So canning went well, took 5 hours to do 5 jars. I must become more efficient. Pressure canning was a bit scary at first, but it's not so bad. Varba kept checking up on me cause he thought the pressure cooker was going to explode.

  12. those are things that i want to start trying to do as well, however the startup costs for the bottles salt etc for pickling is a bit pricey :( and omg i would love some homeade jams and yogurts..my mom used to make those when i was a kid.

Check out craigslist and see if people are selling their canning supplies. You might find some for cheap!

  13. I'm becoming such a good homemaker/housewife.

So far this summer I've frozen: yellow beans, turnips, corn, ground cherries, green beans, summer squash, zucchini, eggplant and watermelon. I've also made 2 different types of jam and sour cherry pie.

So far I've canned: homemade sauerkraut, pickled beets, salsa, pickled carrots and peaches. Today I'm canning pickles, marinated roasted red peppers and stewed tomatoes. :D

  14. Call the US department of transportation and ask. Nissan told me I couldn't get my letter for my car because I had daytime running lights, so I called the department of transportation and they told me it's fine. So I called Nissan back and argued with them and they finally gave me my letter.

  15. Vehicle import form is provided at the PoE. You just need to know the approximate blue book value of your car.

Fiance flying into Canada and driving back with you should be no problem at all. Me and my now-wife did that a few years ago, before we were formally engaged. the CBP officer was a little worried about me as an illegal immigration risk until I said we were going to get a fiance visa. With a visa already in your passport it should be no problem at all. Just make sure your fiance has soemthing to do while you two wait in secondary inspection.

You also need a letter of compliance from the car's maker. You can call your dealer, or car company and inquire what is needed for his.

  16. THe number I have that I use to verify for an interview date is for Department of State 202-663-1225 adn all tehy will ask for is your case# and your name to verify who is calling.
