  1. Who needs this certificate of non marriage? Im an american citizin living in the US and my husband lives in Montreal will he need this? His interview is next month and I want to have everything I need.

  2. Does anyone know what a ds 160 is and if I need it. I went on the US Conslate website and this is what I found.

    Important notice

Beginning October 22, 2008, all applicants applying for nonimmigrant visas in Montreal and Vancouver must use the new DS-160 application form, which is accessible on https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/.

After completing the new DS-160, the applicant will electronically submit the application and will be providedwith a confirmation page that includes only limited biographical information and a bar code. Applicants must bring this confirmation page with them to their interview. Please note: if the online application has not been completed fully and properly the applicant’s case cannot be processed and a new interview appointment will be required.

This first pilot version of the DS-160 will only be available in English. Future versions will allow the user to see translations of the site in other languages, including French.

  3. I am so happy.

My husband has been scheduled an interview for Feb 9,2010. It has been a long time waiting since Sept 24-09. Any one else been scheduled for feb so far.

Does anyone know when he will get the letter about his medical, or is that something has to do on his own before his interview?

  4. Once again my husband has not been granted a appointment. I would like to know if anyone knows the phone number for the US Embassy, or the name of the director in charge. I really need to contact them. This is ridiculous that I can’t enjoy my husband on our anniversary next week unless I travel to Canada. It looks like they are processing K-1 visa than CR-I/IR-1.

  5. I had called NVC a few weeks ago to see if we're scheduled for Jan and they said I should call them back by Dec 14,09 so that they can see whether or not we got an interview for Jan,2010.

I would say if u haven't received an email/mail,then most likely u don't have an interview for Jan,sorry

I was told just today to call back at the end of the week.

  6. If you get married in Canada especially Montreal she will not get your last name.

    I would do option 2.

I even think they process k1 faster.

Yeah they should require a test to be able to post advice Lol.

"You can only get married in Canada and apply for the CR-1 if a penguin is your best man"

So what are you saying? I have to take a test to post my opinion!!!!!

Lol This thread is someone asking for clarification, not someone making up rules :)

To the OP, I would recommend the CR-1 as it saves you a lot of time in the future and from what I've read about here a lot of headaches. My wife and I got married in Canada and then applied for the CR-1 and by doing so she was able to apply for jobs the very next day after she came over. Good luck to you with whatever you decide!!

    lol at yourself.
