I would go with the CR-1 visa. Like Lil Mermaid said it would be more money and not being able to work once you get in the states.

Does anyone know what a ds 160 is and if I need it. I went on the US Conslate website and this is what I found.
Important notice
Beginning October 22, 2008, all applicants applying for nonimmigrant visas in Montreal and Vancouver must use the new DS-160 application form, which is accessible on https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/.
After completing the new DS-160, the applicant will electronically submit the application and will be providedwith a confirmation page that includes only limited biographical information and a bar code. Applicants must bring this confirmation page with them to their interview. Please note: if the online application has not been completed fully and properly the applicant’s case cannot be processed and a new interview appointment will be required.
This first pilot version of the DS-160 will only be available in English. Future versions will allow the user to see translations of the site in other languages, including French.

Thank you so much for that info. Can you also tell me where I can find that info to send to my husband!

I am so happy.
My husband has been scheduled an interview for Feb 9,2010. It has been a long time waiting since Sept 24-09. Any one else been scheduled for feb so far.
Does anyone know when he will get the letter about his medical, or is that something has to do on his own before his interview?

How long did you have to wait for an interview homefry?

My case is CR-1, so what would packet 3 and 4 mean for me?
-
Maybe I’m missing something. Please can someone read this very carefully! My husband’s case was completed on Sept 24-09 he has not been scheduled an interview for January. I’m thinking I may be missing a packet 3 and 4 can someone tell me what this is, and could it be holding him up for being scheduled an interview.

Once again my husband has not been granted a appointment. I would like to know if anyone knows the phone number for the US Embassy, or the name of the director in charge. I really need to contact them. This is ridiculous that I can’t enjoy my husband on our anniversary next week unless I travel to Canada. It looks like they are processing K-1 visa than CR-I/IR-1.

That's not too bad Marchlyne. My husband is in Montreal Canada and he has been waiting for an interview since Sept 24-09. And he's still does not have a interview date. PAP US embassy is moving fast.

I had called NVC a few weeks ago to see if we're scheduled for Jan and they said I should call them back by Dec 14,09 so that they can see whether or not we got an interview for Jan,2010.
I would say if u haven't received an email/mail,then most likely u don't have an interview for Jan,sorry
I was told just today to call back at the end of the week.
-
Does anyone know if Montreal scheduled appointments for January yet?
-
Congrats Mine was completed on the 8th let's hope and pray for a Jan Inerview
Do you know what the turn around time is for PAP to schedule appointments?

If you get married in Canada especially Montreal she will not get your last name.
I would do option 2.
I even think they process k1 faster.
Yeah they should require a test to be able to post advice Lol.
"You can only get married in Canada and apply for the CR-1 if a penguin is your best man"
So what are you saying? I have to take a test to post my opinion!!!!!
Lol This thread is someone asking for clarification, not someone making up rules
To the OP, I would recommend the CR-1 as it saves you a lot of time in the future and from what I've read about here a lot of headaches. My wife and I got married in Canada and then applied for the CR-1 and by doing so she was able to apply for jobs the very next day after she came over. Good luck to you with whatever you decide!!
lol at yourself.
