I had my ceremony in Chicago - at the Federal building, not the courthouse.
I arrived early, but there was no need. We were made to wait in the common waiting area until the ceremony time, and only THEN did they have us line up to check our paperwork before having us take seats in large room.
So - just be there on time, maybe leave 10 extra minutes to clear security downstairs (who are worse than the TSA and without any sense of humor whatsoever)
Nikos,
Thank you! I had my ceremony yesterday and it was exactly as you mentioned! Was a huge help.
Finally done... Thank you all!

Another question.... Do I have to go in at the same time of my husband, or I can arrive early to check in and him later just for the ceremony?
-
Yeah. Life has been nuts... Got my interview on august 13th, my oath in September 15th. However, my timeline might be off due to thr fact i was out of the country this week and i asked them to schedule my Oath after September 12th. They did put that note on my file, so who knows... might have been earlier otherwise. Didnt want to deal with getting a passport that quickly.

I am having my oath ceremony next week downtown Chicago at 1pm. Is 1pm the time i need to show or I need to show earlier? My husband would want to come with me, but we don't want him to miss too much work... the letter doesnt say to arrive earlier...
Thanks!

Ok, since it seems no one knows, is there a way to find out where the ceremony will be? Either a phone number or website?
Thank you,

Hello All,
I am in line for my oath ceremony now. I was wondering if there is any way to figure out where it will be? My local office is Chicago, but I live in the Southwest Suburbs (Joliet-ish area) and I have read that unless you live in Chicago, the Oath will be elsewhere.
I did my biometrics at the Naperville Office.
Anybody has any experience with that?
If my Oath is not in Chicago, I would like to find where so I can figure out the schedule as I have some international travel I need to schedule for work.
Thanks!

Yes.
Credit score, financial stability and debt to gain ratios are what they look at. Your USC spouse should likely be the main loan holder.
I disagree.
The USC doesn't need to be the main loan holder.
I am the main loan holder on mortgage, and we bough the house when I was on the conditional green card.

Well, I have received my green card on April 12th by priority mail! I was so surprised because it's the first time I get a communication with delivery confirmation from them.
And then, in the evening, I got a text and email saying my card was delivered.
The card is so much fancier than the old card. Looks real cool. Too bad it's gonna recide in my important paper away from view :-)

Thanks guys!
Yay!
Congrats!
Are you going to do citizenship in November?
I don't know, I want too! But well, it will be a question of finances more than anything else.
As we all know, this process is not cheap :-T

First, I would say JimVaPhuong advice is most likely the best you will receive in the circumstances..
I am usually lurking, but when I saw the following, I had to say something....
Yes I wrote "You love it here? I bet you do." So what? Who doesn't? The US is not perfect but is the best country to live in the world by far.
If my husband was not in the picture, I would rather live in my home country (Canada) than in US. US might be the best country to live in for YOU, do not assume it's the same for everyone.
But, I made the choice of coming to US because it was the most logical way to be together at the time. I definitely don't owe anything to my husband for coming here. And I do not feel he owes me anything for coming here either.

After nothing since the biometrics, I received this today as an email and a text message on my phone :
"On April 6, 2012, we ordered production of your new card."
wooo!
Good luck to all

I will agree with Harpa.
That's how the lawyer filled my application (I did adjust from a TN). You will most likely have to photocopy everything anyway (your original I-94, your new paperwork, your passport...) to support your application.
-
Just a though...
If you are worried about overstaying, could you send the documents you have now, then send the rest when the RFE arrives? (what does the other think?)
But I do agree that without marriage certificate, kind of a big piece missing...
-
Well, went yesterday and got my biometric done. yay! I arrived at 11:20, my appointment was at 12 and I was out at 11:30. Good thing I went early because 5-6 people arrived as I was leaving :-)
Now, nothing more to do than wait...

Mestis, can I ask what date your biometrics letter was sent? My NOA1 is the same date as your's, that took 5 working days to get to me.
11/29/11... I got it on 12/4/11..

I'll share with you my story, so it might help.
I have been working on a TN for about 5 years, and I had it renewed on Aug 1st, 2009. After that, my then fiance and me decided it would be a good timing to get married, considering couple of factors. We did organize the wedding in 6 weeks and go married on September 2009 with my parents and my best friend from Montreal coming down. We filled for AOS in November. I did continue to work on my TN. My lawyer mentioned it was no issue since I was adjusting status. I could keep my actual legal status until I would get the new one (LPR). I got my EAD on January 14th and I got approved during our interview on February 3rd, 2010 (my husband birthday). My TN status/work has never been discussed, only as how I got into the country in the first place.
However, things at my company were rocky and I did not know if I would keep my job or not. My lawyer mentioned that once the AOS was sent, I was allowed to stay in the country even if I would lose my job and my TN status expires the day you loose your job. However, if I was offered another TN position, I could not renew my TN as I was already in a immigration process and TN does not allow for dual intend. Also, he strongly suggest not to leave the country even with AP as the TN status can be reexamined as you cross the border.
This was my situation 2 years ago and what happened. Hopefully it helps.
Argh.. since I can't edit...
Ok, here is my opinion.... I'm no lawyer, but I had to go through this when I took the decision for myself, so my train of though might help. If other members could pitch in for the logic, I'll appreciate as well.
Actually, I would say she can't stop working before applying to the AOS..I mean, it's not like she's working illegally or something. The minute she leave her job, her TN status is void so she would be out of status until she leave the country or change her status to something else. She would have to apply for a adjustment of status from a TN to a B1 or B2, or go out and in of the country. I think it would be a lot worse to justify intent on a B1 or B2 than on a TN. On the application, she still need to say from which status she is applying from. At this point, TN is no worse than B1 (tourist) or B2 (business). That she stops working or not does not change that. Ask to your lawyer from which status she would adjust from if she would quit her job....
If you really want to take the safest route, you would have to file for a CR-1 or a K-1. It automatically shows no intent to immigrate as you HAVE to return in your country to do the interview. She could continue to work on a TN in the mean time. But even then, she has been working on a TN for 5 years, so at a point, they will start to ask questions as well.

The money was taken from my bank account, so seems like the NOA is on its way!
I hope the biometrics will be before Christmas...
-
Yay! Mestis, glad you got it on its way...
But wow over the 6-11:15 days - that's carzy. I thought mine was bad, leaving the house at 7 and getting home at 9
Well, the good news is, it was only for that week. (which of course timing wise, was the wrong one...)
At least it's on its way.. they should get it today and then the wait begins... (the suspense is killing me already :-P)

Well, after a week of leaving home at 6am and getting home at 11:15pm, I FINALLY got the occasion to drop the package saturday (11/12/11). Sad thing is, it was ready for at least 2 weeks *sigh*. Going to CSC.
Wait for citizenship or redo GC?

What I would consider as well is that there is a lot of movement for the immigration system. Who knows what will be in place in 5 years from now....
