  1. Hey cHiQy! Sorry to hear that you were refused! But don't even worry about it, I took my bimetrics 2 weeks early and it made NO difference I waited till like one week after my ORIGINAL biometrics appointment to recieve anything back from uscis!

So please don't worry it's better that way, LOL not too much more waiting, I hated waiting for those 3 weeks!

    Good luck :star:

it's alright, I'll just go on the 26th. I just've tried the walk-in for the processing to get faster, but then they didn't let me in, so, at least I've tried :)
  2. hey guys i just wanted to get your opinion about my husband loosing his job.

our interview is coming up in a month and well he lost his job july 2009 and we decided to carry on with our AOS application anyways. we have a joint sponsor who makes well above the poverty line. my husband has been looking for a job ever since and right now he hasnt had any offers.

    - do you think that this will affect the decision of the interviewer, will they ask questions about that?

    - he is on employment checks but its not a lot, do you think this will matter to them?

i'm still waiting on my EAD because i also want to get a full time job, but i havent recieved anything yet. man, i'm stressing :crying: !!!!

  4. MAYBE I'M JUST BEING PARANOID BUT TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK???

    - i took my biometrics early, on Aug 13th and my original biometrics app was Aug 28th.

    - i still can't look up any of my cases online, says "validation error", tried calling the 1-800 but it says "cannot be found at this time".

    - i havent recieved any letters/approvals/cards/interview dates.

*SIGHS* i just hope i can do all these things soon, i HATE the waiting esp. because i cant even have some idea of whats going on, its killing me  !

  7. Hey cHiQy!

Well I heard that most schools require to see that receipt of notice and that is fine, as long as you show your international advisor, but then it depends on the school. Some schools want to see that you have your EAD in hand, so my best bet is to tell your advisor that you got married and your adjusting, and ask them what evidence they want to see for you to allow you to drop that f-1 visa status so you don't have to go to school this semester!

    Good luck! :star:

Hi, this is going to be a good thread for all of us AOS filers

I'm a F1 student too, married my husband when he was still a LPR in 2007.

He filed I-130 March 2008 and got Receipt Notice, haven't heard from USCIS since then..

My husband became a naturalized USC last June this year and upgraded the I-130, only got an upgrade letter but the petition isn't approved yet.

Our attorney filed my I-485 and I-765 just yesterday..

Hope I will receive the Receipt Notice as soon as possible because I'm not sure that I could enroll this fall semester

Is it true that if I had the Receipt Notice of my Adjustment of Status, I could show it to my school advisor so I won't be able to fall out of status?

I'm really worried because the school is going to start on Monday already

  8. Good luck, bellybutton! I did that, early walk in but I guess it depends on the place that you are scheduled for, if they accept it! You can prob ask around for other VJer's that went to the same office as your appointment and see whether you can! Def. Makes life easier getting it done earlier!

I see there is another august filers thread here..its all good...just got my biometrics letter and i'm seriously thinking of staging a walk-in, 9/9/09 is just too far :D
  9. wow tako_octopus! thats a really good idea, i had no idea you could do that! anyways LOL i'll keep that in mind for future passport pics!

Grrr! I am so mad. I thought I was only going to need 4 passport photos and now I read in some other post that Im gonna need 6!! I hate taking passport pictures. And they are sooo expensive here! They charged me like $24 for 4 pics! :crying:

I got my 6 passport photos less than $1.

My husband took my picture in front of white wall at home with digital camera

    and brought SD card to

Walmart photo center... You know the kiosk at photo center..

You just selected "passport photo" and you can make adjustment to meet the

spec required by USCIS prior to printing... A few seconds later, your pictures are ready!

    Good luck :star:

  10. If I'm correct I think it's 3 for both G-325A and then another 2 for the I-765 and 2 for I-131 depending if your filing for those? That's what I did and I filed for them all!

You should try like costco, walgreens, cvs or rite aid they usually have a good deal on passport photos, less than $10 for four!

  11. Most probably it's because you had RFE, so your saying that you sent it, uscis recieved it and then sent you a RFE?

If so most probably they are waiting for you to send that evidence and when they recieve it, then they'll go through the process, they will cash the checks and send the NOA's.

I guess just give it some extra time! Good luck :)

    Hey fellow VJ'ers,

I just wanted to start a new thread for everyone who is sending out their AOS package this august. I sent mine July 30th!!

    Keep updating your timelines!!

:star:GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS ALL! :star:

Hi August 2009 filers. I am a little worried about how our AOS is going. I am on a B2 visa and got married to an anerican citizen last June 6, 2009. We sent the AOS packet to chicago lockbox as advised by the representative from local USCIS california. We sent it REGISTERED MAIL on July 31, 2009 (friday) at around 3pm and was received on August 6 2009 signed by Raplh Mercado. Up until today AUGUST 12, 2009, the check hasn't been cashed yet and nothing in the mail about the Notice of Action (NOA). is this normal? or is it because our docs were sent back to us and now in the mail because of RFE? please enlighten me on this! thank you so much!!!

  12. thanks laurelmike. thats a good suggestion about sharing my educational experiences and teamwork! i'll be sure to remember that

Pinayangelus.... I don't have any of my medical records either. Oh!! well, I'll see how that goes next week.

Congrats on your graduation. Business administration is quite a brilliant program  , I still intend going back to School to do my MBA soon.... I understand your concerns about the lack of experience but in an interview you can always refer to your educational experiences- presentations, teamwork, e.t.c. I'm a lawyer but in this economy getting a job in that sector isn't easy, the industries that are recession proof seems to be healthcare and education. Don't worry dear.... I believe we'll be just fine

Ranchris.... Yeah, waiting with hubby is sooooo much easier. I can't imagine us being apart ;)

  13. No problem ranchris! This thread is for anyone adusting status, no matter which visa your coming from :)

LOL, I hate stressing! Sux because I have to wait for my employment authorization and I kinds feel like I'm wasting away spending time doing nothing at home, cuz I just graduated and I can't get a job without that EAD!

Pinayangelus ...thanks for the info...much appreciated.

Laurelmike....looks like I did a wrong post...thanks and I'm glad to be here.

Yep! and it is back to the stressing again but this time hubby is here.

  14. LOL good for you, at least you've started the paperwork! medicals i'm sure are going to go smooth, i didnt even have any of my old medical records and vaccinations. i just had to get 3 vaccinations done again and that was included in my medical!

lol getting a job scares the heck outta me! lol its just i recently graduated, but its bad for me because i've never had any work experience, my parents wanted me to finish my education first, so i dont even know what kind of job i can get :  my major was business administration. lol it puts me at a disadvantage being 23 and not having any work experience, dont you think laurelmike?

well i'm glad i have you, LOL and this forum to vent my frustrations. how about you? what kind of job are you hoping to get?

I thought the other August thread is for the K-1 applicants

    Never mind, welcome Ranchris

Pinayangelus.... I wish I was at your stage. Honestly, after my exams looking at any papers was the last thing I wanted. Anyway, I have started putting the documents together now, I have my medicals next week. Ah!!! getting a job (that excites me)..... after the EAD, it's going to be a struggle in this economy but I bet we can do it ;) What industry are you in?

  15. hey ranchris,

    to change the immigration status....

    - go to mycontrols.

    - go to the left menu, scroll down to "edit profile information".

    - scroll down to immigration status and amend profile.

hope that helps! good luck

I think this is the 2nd AOS August 2009 filers I have entered....anyways...I happy to be a part of it and my sincere well wishes to all.

Quick question though...I've updated all my files here to show I am now filing for AOS however, it still shows I am filing for K1...how can I update that? Thanks.

  16. Good luck pink butterfly! LOL you are so lucky to have your biometrics app already! Still waiting for mine :(, hopefully soon!

    Hey fellow VJ'ers,

I just wanted to start a new thread for everyone who is sending out their AOS package this august. I sent mine July 30th!!

:star:GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS ALL! :star:

Hello!!! I sent mine July 22nd and received NOA and biometrics appointment july 31st my appointment is August 27th... I'm excited but nervous at the same time, thank you for creating this :) this way i feel like I'm not the only one waiting... :) good luck!!! and god bless all!

  17. i was just looking around at other VJ'ers timelines and i see that some AOS were transfered from USCIS to CSC, it seems like they had an easier time with the AOS having no interview.

    - i was wondering why some of these cases get transfered to CSC? is it random? or are there specifics?

    - also, is there anyone out there who has gone from F-1 visa to adjust status and gone through the CSC?

    just curious? thanks :star:

  18. Hi laurelmike! Welcome to VJ!

LOL good luck with the paperwork, definitely a lot of work, but always worth it in the end :)
