  1. Our interview has been scheduled recently but I have a lot of questions in regards to preparing for the interview, I hope to get your advice on this.

Things I know we should do:

    1) Get medical exam done and bring the report to the interview

    2) 2" x 2" photo for beneficiary (4?)

    Questions

    1) Do I need to bring the original interview appointment letter or can I print the one sent to me via email?

    2) In the table listing documents requested by the NVC, all our document status are either C, Y, O, or F. So does that mean we don't have to bring any documents anymore? (I have listed the table below)

    CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS C

    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION Y

    DS-230-II Y

    PASSPORT Y

    BIRTH CERTIFICATE O

    ADOPTION F

    MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE O

    MARRIAGE TERMINATION F

    COURT RECORDS F

    FINANCIAL EVIDENCE Y

    CUSTODY PAPERS F

    MILITARY RECORDS F

    CANADA POLICE CERTIFICATE O

CHINA - MAINLAND POLICE CERTIFICATE O

    FEE PAYMENT F

    PHOTOGRAPH Y

    PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE F

    PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE F

    3) Do I need to bring the tax transcript for 2009? (I have mailed in my tax return paperwork when I filed earlier a few months ago because the transcript isn't available yet) If so does it have to be tax returns or transcripts will do?

    4) What else am I missing? Any advice on how we should be prepared for the interview?

    5) Am I being interviewed as well? Will I (petitioner) be present at the interview with the beneficiary (my wife)?

    6) US Embassy in Montreal allows that we bring an interpreter with us. Can I be my wife's interpreter or must I hire a professional interpreter?

    Thanks for your help!

  2. What language? More than likely the consulate in Montreal can also conduct the interview in French.

Can fiance(e)/spouse attend the interview? Yes

Sorry, forgot to mention that, my wife is from China so Mandarin. Will she be interviewed alone or can I be by her side?

  3. Hi all,

I am confused whether the petitioner will have to send in their original birth certificate for NVC processing (DS-230 and I-864). I have heard people here said that it's not necessary for petitioner to mail in their original birth certificate.

On the State Dept website (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html) it says:

"The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity)."

    Please advice.

  4. Hi all, I am very confused with some of the things on I-864. I am currently applying IR-1/CR-1 for my wife.

    9. [ ] I am sponsoring the following family members ...

    10. Enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this form from Part 3, Items 8 and 9. [0][1]<--

    Then in 21,

Persons you are sponsoring in this affidavit:

Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit

    b. Yourself [1]

    c. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse [0] <-- is this correct since my wife is already counted in 21a?

    ...

    h. Add together lines and enter the number here. Household Size: [0][2]

If I own my own LLC company, what do I put down for Part 6? Employed as ... or Self-employed as ...?

    Part 9 Information on Preparer

    Business State ID# <-- what's this?

    Thank you all!
