Pardon my whining, but I just cannot BELIEVE how long this takes. I'm a federal employee myself and I can't understand what takes 6 months or more to get these applications processed?! If I had work sit for that long I'd have a whole lot of questions being asked...
I find it extremely frustrating that we only have an 800-number to call...only to receive the same canned answer that appears on the USCIS case status site.

Yeah, I've been doing round trip (we both live in the U.S. and we're flying home to see his parents), from Detroit to Kyiv. I'm noticing that there definitely aren't as many flights to Kyiv anymore and it's making me nervous!

WHAT is going on with flights to Ukraine? I used to get them all the time for about $800 or $900. I honestly can't find anything under $1700 or $1800 (without being 27 hrs long). I actually checked on British Airways and was quoted a price of $7400 for ONE ticket?! I was hoping some of the other Ukrainie visajourney-ers had some advice! I've tried Delta/KLM, BA, kayak, momondo, tripadvisor...

Intially I was going to do an I-864A for my mom (my dad is a joint sponsor, they file jointly)
But I don't actually need to use my mom's income. I will file an I-864 for myself (the petitioner) and my father (the joint sponsor).
I wrote down his individual income for questions 10: but for question 11 do I write the gross total (as shown on their jointly filed taxes? Is this why I need to include his W-2s...to show the 'breakout' of his income from their total income?

I just want to say thanks again to everyone on here, I really appreciate your help. I've spent the past hour searching for the answer to my question. I hate to post repeat questions, but I just can't find what I need.
I am a USC and my dad will be my joint sponsor for my foreign fiance (K-1 visa). We are currently doing adjustment of status (I-864) and I know that both he and I will need to fill out separate I-864s. I'm including my mom's income on his just to be sure the $$ will be enough and so I'm doing an I-864A for her. However, the I-864A asks for
#11. "My total income (my mother's) (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ as reported on my federal tax returns for the most recent three years).
Question 10 asks for her individual income so what does #11 want? both her and my father's gross income? They don't fill out the 1040EZ. And it just seems redundant to put their gross income again. They also want her tax returns...since my parents file jointly, it'll just be what I'm sending in for my dad's I-864. I do understand that I need her W-2s and 1099s.

Hi everyone!
I'm getting ready to do AOS and I have my fiance's ds-2025 and it has been signed and the vaccinations filled out by the ukrainian physician. However, part 2: the part where they needed to check off either 'vaccine history incomplete', 'vaccine history complete' etc. has not been filled out.
What does this mean? Do I need to have a full medical for my fiance done in the US? Do I just need a new vaccination sheet from an American doctor? Thanks in advance.

They sent me this reply:
Thank you for your inquiry of March 25, 2009. Please be informed that your presence at the interview is optional and will not influence the decision of the Consular officer. Although you may accompany your fiancé to the interview you will not be able to attend it in full.
Almost sounds as if they'd rather not have me there
What parts is the American fiance/e not allowed in?

Right now the gryvna is weak in Ukraine (so that's good for Americans). My fiance told me right now it's 8 or 10 gryven to one dollar. When I was living there it was 5 gryven to a dollar. It makes it a lot harder on Ukrainians though...
As for our timeline, thanks for asking!
I'm trying to plan out grad school and a job here, so we want to wait a little for the interview. We're going to do it sometime around the end of April. I'll be giving the embassy a call sometime this week. I'll be in Ukraine from 4/17-5/11 (and I'm SO excited)! We (my fiance and I) don't want him too arrive and have us stuck at my parents' house. I feel like that would be a little irresponsible. I know sooner is almost always better but in this case we're being a little more cautious. It's not easy to be young just starting out...

Hmmm
We just had one done back in late August. I don't think we had the option of expediting it. It took about 2 months. There might be some 'under the table' sort of payment you could do. But then again, Donetsk is a huge city, much larger than our oblast center, so you may have more luck! Plus, you might have more options since she's now living in the U.S. (They could try to expedite it for you because of this).

I just thought I'd update. I don't log on too often now to VisaJourney, basically because it would drive me crazy:) Kyiv received our papers, but for personal reasons (future plans, etc) we can't do the interview until the end of April (but I did already buy my plane ticket, YAY!!)
So now it's just a waiting game ... and if I'm reading everybody's posts here, it's just going to make me more impatient!!
I hope everything is falling into place for all the other September filers! For the rest of you, good luck!

He's wrong. As a US Citizen you are not "sponsored". Your father's household size is four.
I stand corrected. However it begs a clarification. Somewhere the US citizen must be "counted" though I agree that you should not be counted twice. Sorry. In retrospect, YOUR I-134 would be for TWO (you and your fiance) and your father's would be for FOUR (himself, mother, sister and co-sponsor of fiance). I have made the error of mixing taxes with sponsorship. Your fiance will not be a "dependent" on your father's taxes (or should not be), but he WILL be counted in the family size as he is being sponsored by your father. Being counted on the I-134 does not make one a "dependent" in the eyes of the IRS, and that is where I gave a confusing answer. I never intended to say you would be a "dependent" on your father's taxes, but my garbled words would be the reason you thought so.
Of course the USC is counted. They are counted in their own household.
Now I feel like I need to correct you guys?!?! But maybe I just don't understand you.

How Do I Count Household Size?
Your household size includes yourself and the following individuals, no matter where they live: any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return, all persons being sponsored in this affidavit of support, and any immigrants previously sponsored with a Form I-864 or FormI-864 EZ affidavit of support whom you are still obligated to support.
Dad, Mom, Sister, Fiance
Why in the world would I be included? Just because I made under the poverty level doesn't make me a dependent!

I appreciate everyone's responses, but I also know that you only need an employer's letter or bank statement if you're using your job or checking account as proof for the income requirement. It is definitely NOT necessary. For example, my dad is retired, and has enough money, we don't even need to bother with employment letters and bank statements. You only need that if you have to use a combination of assets/sources of money to prove you are over the poverty level.
Basically what I want to know is WHAT am I trying to prove, if I know I'm ineligible. That's why I need a co-sponsor...

I'm a recently returned Peace Corps volunteer. Because of this, I don't have a steady job(right now I'm substitute teaching). I have about $2500 in my bank account and my father has agreed to be my co-sponsor (his income is more than enough). However, what proof do I need to show for my I-134? Are taxes and w-2s enough?
I just don't understand what the point would be for for me to get a letter from my bank or employer, when I don't have steady hours, or enough money to qualify. I'm assuming anyone who has had a co-sponsor knows the answer to this question. Or at least share your experiences with me, please!

Yes I understand that, my father is my co-sponsor. That wasn't my question. I still have to file MY I-134. Do I need supporting documentation (letters, pay stubs, etc.) if I am not the one who has enough money? My father will give me his documentation for his I-134, but what do I need, if anything. Geeze I hate the requirement of a letter from an employer, my boss is so gossipy!
You actually don't need a letter from your employer. You need to prove to the government you make over (is it 125%?) the poverty level for your household size. If your W-2s and tax returns show that you do, then you need no other proof. However, if you don't make that much money, then you need to submit other documents (like stocks & bonds, bank account statements, etc)
