I started working on stuff for Packet 3. I found this on the Tokyo Embassy web-site and thought it might be helpful for everyone in preparation.http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-niv-kchecklist.html
I hear each embassy is different, and there is definately a few unique Japanese things here, but if your embassy doesnt have this checklist, it should cover most of the major things - especially the time consuming things you need to do for preparation.

I called down there one day and talked to the "more support" folks. I sent in photos WITH the dates and time on them. The rep. told me this should suffice for evidence. Apparently I got the Page 2 RFE stating they wanted copies of airline tickets and passport stamps.
There is never a same standard for documents that are needed to process. It seems like it is up to whomever processing it. People need to realize these petitions are people's livelihood and engagement and marriages is a big deal.
Yes ... mine has also taken a very long time and I have just recently gotten a RFE. It appears that they want me to write the date and locations on the back of the photos i sent.... But i have obtained all of the info they have asked for and mailed it today.

A last name of your other or family thread may have landed a red flag due to common surnames. This happens alot to Philippine applicants.
Simply stated, they are checking to see if your name or have ties with another individual who has a similiar name who they don't want in the country.
There are security checks at every stage of this process. Any one of which can hold your case up for any amount of time. There is a thread in the forum I am moving this to that was started by those who are 6+ months into processing. It often helps to know you're not alone and to have the support of others going through the same thing. If you are past the processing dates listed on the uscis website then you can contact your congressperson and/or the uscis ombudsman for assistance...or hopefully an answer at the very least.
p.s. Unfortunately, a lawyer hardly ensures your paperwork is done properly. You have only to do a search around this site to know that.
good luck. hope you hear something soon.
moving this to filing and progress reports....

I got my RFE in the mail on the 27th. It asked for more evidence of meeting within 2 years, circumstance of meeting, and my birth certificate must have been too old for them to read it. I got the I-797E in within 4 days of the RFE notice on USCIS...which was pretty quick. I'll send it off this monday and hopefully should get a decision on the case NLT 22nd on January. I should have word after a few weeks of them recieving it about my case.
The only thing I can think of that they need is "proof of employment" or my statement of military service. There cannot be any "met in person" evidence needed. When you send 8 pages of photos plus phone bills on top of that, it should be good evidence.I really hope I can contact someone tonight (time conversion) there and see what the hello they need. I really don't know...ruined holidays.
I wish everyone else the best of luck.
Am happy to see several sept filers gettting approved. I hope they start approving late september filers as well. Keeping fingers crossed. Also great to see some action in this board...Good luck...When I first started looking at VJ, the date as Jan 21 to Feb 2nd I think. I was kind of counting on that date. But with others getting done faster, maybe you will be ahead of that schedule also.
August started moving fast. Hopefully, they will finish up soon and more Sept filers will get approved before the end of the year. I hope you are all among them in the next couple of weeks. Makes you antsy when others are getting approved but nothing happening, but I think it was the same for july when August started going and still for August when Sept started going. Just give it a few more weeks. Happy holidays to all.

They process my case A SOON as it comes in??? How long does it take if anyone knows?
You bascically provide everything that is instructed from your RFE. -
Actually , my touch was BAD NEWS. I got an RFE and I don't know what the hello it is
. Real bad news for the holiday. How long does an RFE take for them to review it? It said there is a suspense for it. On top of that, what if I get a short notice deployment and not have time to send an expedited request in??? SHAFTED! IM REALLY FRUSTRATED AND DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY NEED! I SENT EVERYTHING IN ACCORDING TO THE CHECKLIST I GOT FROM A LAW FIRM!
aljhel, Happy to hear about your touch. It is probably a really good sign, but I have even better newsI GOT APPROVAL NOTICE EMAIL TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I never sent in the G325A for her daughter and it didnt hold it up. Maybe you will be ok. Good luck!!!
Funny thing is, I was having such a bad night too, then I checked my email again just before I was going to sleep and there it was - I was just expecting more reply notices from VJ. It has been sitting there for a few hours!
AMY, Looks like you dont need to open that can up after all, but thanks for your support, it meant a lot.
THATS OUTSTANDING!!! I guess it's not much of a hold up either eh? Everywhere I looked it didn't say it was required, but I guess not?
Overall I wish you too the best of LUCK! I'm sure she will love Michigan Christmas! It's a real Christmas once you have snow!

I got it!!!!! I got it!!!!!! I got it!!!!!
Our NOA2 came by SNAIL MAIL today dated 12/16/08!!! Our online status still says the case is pending from Sept. 2, 2008. What?!? I was so depressed last night when it was time for CSC to close and I still hadn't gotten anything. I about fainted when it showed up in the mail today!! I think that actually makes me the very first September filer to be approved...even though I got the notice late. Woohoo!!! I'm so excited!!!
Good luck everyone!
Congrats Amy (again) - but I think I am not mistaken in saying congrats this time. Merry Christmas to you!!!!!!!!!
3 days next week, hopefully they will do something for the rest of us. I am a little mad about the whole deal. I requested the expedite on 11/12, but they still wont even answer the expedite request and now Sept people are getting approved. So I dont know what happened to my file, but they dont seem to be doing anything with it.
Same here CHuck...I got my NOA1 date for September 3rd.......and thats what the mailed date says is "September 3rd".....my last touch date was September 4th...I'm kinda worried about whats going on with mine. Then again I hope the G-325A for my Fiancee son isnt the reason
I am screwed! I know I didnt do a G325A for her daughter. I didnt know I needed it. Now I need to get it signed by her (in the Philippines), and get it here. Fortunately, I am going there this week, but I wont be back until the 4th, so even if they did something with my file, I will just get an RFE and have to wait until after the new year.
I wonder if they will take the G-325A by Email. I have a Tablet PC and she can sign on my computer. I could email it if I had an email address. Even fax it after signing.
Anyway, good luck to all. We have a few days before Christmas to hope for the best.
aljhel, you love this.
I called the National Call Center (again) today and was able to get their "high level support" guy, which turned out to be no help at all. But before I let him off the phone, I asked about the g325a for my fiance's daughter. I was going to see if I could send it in now or need to wait or if it was required.
He couldnt tell me if it was required or not. He said from looking at everything he didnt see a requirement for it, but if I wanted to send it in to be on the safe side I could. But since it needs to be signed, he said I could send it in without signature and they could have it signed when the visa would be issued. (assuming they ever process my case).
He said it looks like I was approved for expedite becuase they havent rejected the request and it has been 6 weeks since my request. So I asked if it is approved for expedite, why is it not being touched - he said "some cases just take longer than others" What does that mean? 20 minutes instead of 15? They are doing nothing with my expedite request and not even processing it anyway. Just makes me sick!
Doesn't make any sense to me. You figured an epxedited request would give a red flag to take a look at your case and make a sound decision at that time. American Beauracracy at it's best!
-
GOOD NEWS CHUCK! At least I got a touch 12/22/2008! Finally got something!. Hopefully it doesn't become an issue and get an NOA2 than an RFE. The G-325A For her son is On the way if it isn't already there.

You BETTER be next Chuckie or I'm going to go to CSC myself and open a can of whoop a$$ on them!!
What is wrong with them?? They should've at least given you an answer one way or another by now. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you, my friend.
You're going to get it any day--I'm sure of it!!
Thanks everyone and Merry Christmas to all!!
You figure after waiting 3 months at least during the filing process.....that if you needed sumthing or RFE, they would let you know and not at the 5th month mark after recieving NOA1....

OMG! OMG!! I went into town to do the Christmas Grocery Shopping and trying to get ready for my Petie coming on the 23rd. After I put everything away I thought I would check and see how far down Igor's List we are, when I see 122 I thought I should check the USCIS website. I made a point to only check it once a week. I almost fell to the floor! We're Approved!! Of course I can't get a hold of him, he's out doing some Christmas celebrating with friends.................YEAH!!!!!
I guess it takes hiring a lawyer to get your petition process faster huh?

The timeline that I have is basically a signature, edit your signature and type in your timeline.
Goodluck on your journey
Has anyone ever forgot to file the G-325A for the deriative child of the beneficiary? I did and mailed it back alogn with a cover letter describing what it is and who it is for. I wonder if this may cause a delay???

You have been waiting for over a year for a NOA2? What happened?

Hello Guys!
It's been like my past time after I finish my school paper or during the break time in my work, I visit this site. I might be too paranoid but it's nice to know that besides me and my bebe ko, many couple like us are waiting for the progress. I am being patient but I want to be in track on what should do time to time.
Anyway, does anybody here experience discrimination from the other people because you have foreign fiance and you meet him/her in this kind of communication?
I just want to know and get your opinion. This is just for the sake of conversation
Regarding your question about discrimination - I think it depends on which part of the US you will live in. Some places (especially larger cities with diverse population) are more tolerant. Generally intollerance is just from ignorance.
Also, it may depend on appearance. If you are young and your fiance is much older or if you are really pretty and your fiance is not, people may assume your relationship is only for visa reasons to come to the US. Again, many people in the US are ignorant of other cultures and differences, so this is largely just based on their experience (or lack of experience). People also seem to have a lack of tolerance for people that dont speak English - I have actually heard people say something like "if your going to come to this country, speak English" - which is totally ridiculous considering the person they were talking about was a visitor and we dont learn to speak other languages before going to other countries.
I travel around the world, so it is nice to see how other people view things, but it should be noted - in general, people in the rest of the world watch news about the rest of the world, but in the US, mostly our news is just about what is happening in the US. If we see news about other areas, it is biased unfortunately. I guess in the US, there is enough going on for us to think about without considering the rest of the world generally. Sad, but true....
Honestly, it seems to me (just an opinion), that most intolerance is race or religion related - being from the philippines, I dont think you will have too much problem - especially if your English is good.
With all that being said, the US is still a great country, but like every place we have problems and people who are not so tolerant of others. I hope you never experience any problems.
how and why did you call and request it to be expedited if you mind me asking?
1st, PLEASE complete your timeline. Thanks
2nd, I am not sure if this was a question for me or not as the post you copied was about discrimination. So here is the general information: If you have more questions, let me know.

USCIS Expedite Criteria
All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The criteria are as follows:
- Severe financial loss to company or individual
- Extreme emergent situation
- Humanitarian situation
Like we all don't have those...
- Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States
How can that be a concern? An organization has nothing to do with a pre-marital relationship.
- Department of Defense of National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)
We deploy all the time and this still doesn't work. My Army friend was denied expedited services before he went on an 150 day deployment...
- USCIS error
- Compelling interest of USCIS

I have a question? Our first documents were sent via a STUPID LAWYER!! He screwed the paperwork and cost us months bu not having original signatures. I was in SA at the time so we faxed them in like he said to and the papers came back three times! Finally he realized we needed orginial signatures like it clearly states and we rec'd our NOA1 and GOT A NEW LAWYER! Do you think this could slow down our NOA2 b/c he was stupid or do you think that it's fine and they are working on it? We rec'd an NOA1 approval but I am worried they will remember our papers and put us at the bottom
WHAT AN IDIOT! IT SPECIFICALLY SAYS YOUR ORIGINAL SIGNATURES! .....{FIRED!}......I NEVER HIRED A LAWYER, WASTE A MONEY, ANYONE CAN DO THE K-1 PROCESS, IT TAKES ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND PATITNECE TO FILL OUT PAPERWORK!!!!!!!!!

September filer here too... Me and my fiance have a 3 months old baby boy together, which we included in our application.
Im very happy for you two and wish you the best of LUCK!
Kinda off topic, right now I'm really missin' my bhe. I'm a hard core guy, but that little pinay sure made me weak
.......BUT DONT TAKE me for WEAK HUH!.
(hehe i had nothing else to write about, I have a wonderful woman in my life. Been ALLOVER the world the military has taken me, and never could have met anyone who brought me to my knees!)

My timeline and signature explain it.
There have only been a few of us, all from late August, which was really unexpected. Therefore I think it's safe to say that September won't come all that soon. There are so many people whose applications yet have to be processed and they filed at the beginning of August, or earlier.
The day we got our NOA2, our expected timeline (VJ's) was showing jan 17th-Jan 20-something.
Why did yours take only so short of time to file? What did you do?!?!?!!!?

why does it take longer for philippine beneficiaries to get approved? Is there a bias????
I just dont understand why some people are already getting approved? None of the philippine applicants don't......shafted!!!
Based on what? I don't think there is any bias against the philippines in terms of getting a NOA2. It is considered a high fraud country, so getting a visitor visa is next to impossible, but there doesn't seem to be a huge issue in terms of fiance visa's, and compared to other high fraud countries the process is fast (the after noa2 part that is... in the past document verification could be a nightmare but at least for now that's not being done). China and london embassy's both for different reasons can expect to wait quite a while after the NOA2 to schedule interviews and medical...
How long does it typically take to get a Manila interview? I looked on some stats and it shows the Philippines is number 2 when it comes to influx of K visa petitions next to the U.K., and South Korea.....(that was approved visa!surprisingly China wasn't on the list!) I know you have to call the appointment number there on the manila embassy web sites, but even so, how long is the wait??? I'd figure Manila would be pretty busy!
They give any consideration to active duty military? We are federal employees too and we assure they process those applications without the fear of a mortar smashing down on top of them!
