  1. Hi everyone,

I just got my K1 visa approved  and I want to have all the papers ready for the Adjustment of Status. I am from Mexico and my Birth Certificate is in Spanish. Do I need to go to a translator or something to get it translated? or can it be either myself or my brother? Both of us are fluent in English.

Then the translation would be just on a normal piece of paper not on an official paper, would that be a problem?

I'm basically clueless about this process so any help is welcome from someone who has done it and even better if they had done it in Mexico.

    Cheers everyone

  2. Congrats epifreak!!!!

After all that stress before and during the interview and finally being approved I got back to the hotel to take a nap. When I woke up it was around 2 and I checked the DHL website and to my surprise the VISA was ready and waiting for me. I just got back from going and picking it up. I'm just so surprised about how lightning fast the interview and getting the visa was. The medical was another story but whatever it's done.

To answer some of the recent questions.

They are still not using the DS-160.

They did ask me for the DS-157.

At the clinic you can pay with pesos or dollars for the medical exam.

For the visa fee at the bank you have to use pesos.

Regarding the questions about the interview. It's pretty much what everyone have posted. In my case it was very fast. I think it was that fast because we sent a huge I-129F that the interviewer was reviewing. The only thing extra he asked were pictures. That was my case, either way come prepared with lots of things.

    Cheers everyone and good luck!

  3. I got approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the famous dhl wait. Thanks everyone for their support and their knowledge.

Regarding the payment it was indeed 1900 pesos. It is significantly less now because the dollar now is at 13,50 and a couple of months back got to be around 16.00.

Either way. Cheers everyone and now I can finally relax.

Thanks a lot to everyone who makes this site so incredibly useful.

    Cheers!

  4. Also. How did you pay for the medical exam and the visa itself. Can you pay the medical with credit card or u have to pay beforehand at the bank? If that is the case do they give you the info for paying at the bank when u first go to the Consulate?

The same question for visa. I know they tell u to pay it at Banamex but do they give u the info to info for paying at the bank when u first go to the Consulate?

Thanks everyone and thanks JenandDavys for that very useful piece of information.

    Cheers

    Hi David-J,

The Holiday Inn you want to book is Holiday Inn LAS MISIONES. It's right across from Las Misiones Mall and literally a 2 minute walk to the consulate (you can see it from the hotel parking lot).

I don't know if you can pay the medical with a credit card, we paid in cash, and you pay AT THE CLINIC, not at the bank. The visa fee is paid BEFORE the interview, and you can pay at the Banamex at the mall across the street from the hotel. When you pay the fee, they give you a receipt that you take to the interview to prove that the fee has been paid. When you go into the bank, you have to take a number for a "ventanilla" as you walk in the door. Then you sit down and wait for your number to be called. When they call you up to the teller window, you tell them that you want to pay the visa fee (there is a flat fee for visas, so you don't have to specify that it's a fiancee visa). When we paid at the bank, I think the fee was like $171 US. I think they also ask you for your name. They print the receipt out, and you're done! You have to take this with you to the interview, I don't even think they'll let you inside the consulate without it.

They only give you one receipt, so make sure you don't misplace it. Assuming you are going to go to the consulate early in the morning for the interview, you won't have time to get to the bank to pay the fee beforehand, so pay it the day before. You can also get passport photos at the same mall.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much limejello. I think I'm ready now.

  6. Congrats limejello.

I have more or less the same doubt as Ivonne'n Jim.

How much time do you guys who already went through the whole interview process at the Juarez consulate recommend to stay in Juarez.

A full business week. Like having the medical on a Monday, the interview on Tuesday and having the next three days for waiting the Visa.

I was just wondering if the people who have recently got their visa could post how much time after the interview had to wait for their visas. It seems for what I have read that the time has diminished to next day after the interview. I just want to see how things are happening nowadays more or less.

Cheers, congrats to all the one who went through this successfully and also patience for all the ones who are waiting.

  8. Hi everyone.

I'm going soon to the consulate in Juarez for my interview and I had a couple of questions.

= Does my fiance have to attend the interview or with just me (the beneficiary) its ok?

= Do my documents have to be translated? (birth certificate, police records, etc?) they are apostilled right now but I was wondering if I had to translate them.

Cheers everyone and thanks cici for the incredibly detailed and helpful comment.

  10. We just got our NOA2 so we are gathering the following documents for the interview. Do any of them have to be notarized???

    I-134

    2008 Income Tax Return

    2008 W2

3 prior years of tax return transcripts (call IRS or visit IRS website for the form)

Letter from employer (if possible because some company don't give these out, if not then the recent pay stubs will suffice)

    recent pay stubs

    Thanks everyone.
