  1. Hi.

Here is a little bit about my situation. I am currently a green card holder via the fiance visa. We have been married for 5 years and we never needed for me to apply for citizenship until maybe now.

My problem is that I may be moving abroad for some time in the near future and I wanted to know if any of the procedures for the citizenship can be done abroad at a Consulate, more specifically at a US consulate in Spain.

I was planning on filing the N400 form and do the biometrics here in the US but most likely I would move by then and then I would still be left with the test and the oath to do? Does anyone know if it's possible to do those two things at a US consulate or office in another country?

    thank you.

    David Saiz

  2. HI everyone.

I received my Green Card today. . Now that I have pretty much finished the process I just wanted to share a couple of things that may help you in your process.

    - One thing I noticed that it helped us a lot and I didn't see it posted here, was our K1 visa evidence. We submitted a lot of stuff. Lots of telephone calls and I mean a lot. Lots of emails, several photos, etc. Because of the amount of things we submitted when I had the interview at the consulate for the K1 they didn't ask me much. They just looked at all the phone calls and said WOW. Same thing with the interview for the Adjustment of Status. They just looked at all the phone calls and the officer said " you sure called each other a lot", 5 mins later we were out the there approved. I'm not saying you must do as I did, I'm just telling you how it affected us in a very positive way.

You provided evidence of phone calls after you were married for the AOS interview?? Why??

I'm just telling you my experience. You don't need phone calls for your AOS interview but like they have said before they forward your case. So for the AOS they have all the paperwork and forms you have submitted. In our case when they were reviewing our case it helped us when they saw our evidence. When they saw it they just knew that ours was a serious relationship and therefore the interview was a mere formality. Just my experience.

    Cheers and good luck!

  3. HI everyone.

I received my Green Card today. . Now that I have pretty much finished the process I just wanted to share a couple of things that may help you in your process.

    - I know everyone says it but it needs to be repeated. Be honest in all your applications, don't lie or conceal any information. Makes things easier and faster.

    - Be patient and don't rush your application. Make sure you have all the paperwork for it. I know you want to be with your significant other as soon as possible but triple check everything.

So in summary, make sure you prepare very well that K1 visa because it's going to affect the rest of the process. Hope it all works out for you as it did for us. Also remember to stay calm, if you prepare everything right and triple check it, everything will be alright.

Cheers and if you look at my timeline and my circumstances and you think I can help you out; send me a message and I will be more than gladly than try to help you.

    Cheers and good luck everyone!

  4. Hi everyone.

I just got the letter I got my Adjustment of Status approved and that my Green Card is in the mail. Thanks to everyone here for helping me. Couldn't have done this without this site.

I just wanted to help people around regarding the vaccinations transcriptions by a Civil Surgeon. I had a tough time finding one that was honest, efficient and fair regarding the cost. Almost all of them around the Bay Area near San Jose are around 100 bucks. Some are less, some are more.

Well I found this clinic that for 10 bucks they do the vaccination transcription and they did it really fast. They are in the Civil Surgeons website and I wanted to share the link so people take advantage of this.

The name is Meridian Medical Group and is in San Jose.

    Cheers everyone

  5. I will most likely go the week of the 9th. You mean give you the green light....when they say they have finished processing and they have sent out the letter right?

Yes, when they finish processing it and they say they have sent the letter I am going to go to Juarez. I will not be waiting to receive it by mail. Thanks for the words of support.

    Isi,

Thank you for the encouraging words. It's just getting harder each day.

    Andrea

I FEEL VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISCOURAGED :(

I CALLED JUAREZ AND THE DUMBOS TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE STILL PROCESSING THE PAPERWORK FROM NVC....IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN I CALLED LAST WEEK I WAS TOLD THAT OUR CASE WAS PROCESSED AND THAT THEY WOULD MAIL OUT THE LETTER IN LIKE 10 DAYS.....THEN YESTERDAY I INFORMED THE PERSON THAT I WAS TOLD>>>>>PROCESSED!!!!!!!, BUT NO.....THE PERSON SAID THAT IN THEIR SYSTEM THEY WERE "DOUBLE CHECKING" INFO FROM NVC AND WITH THE ELECTRONIC COPY (I THINK).......

BUT ANYWAYS ANDREA, I WILL DO THE EXACT SAME THING AS YOU GUYS.....I WILL NOT WAIT FOR THE LETTER TO COME IN THE MAIL, I ACTUALLY DOUBLE CHECKED WITH THE PERSON FROM JUAREZ AND SHE TOLD ME THAT 'YES'....WE COULD PRINT OUT THE FORMS, GO TO JUAREZ, AND NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE LETTER (BUT ONLY AFTER THEY PROCESS EVERYTHING)

SO, I WILL BE CALLING THIS FRIDAY AGAIN AND POSSIBLY START MAKING RESERVATIONS TO ARRIVE ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 8TH.

BTW, JUAREZ WILL BE CLOSED ON NOVEMBER: 2,11,13,16,26,27

LETS PRAY SO THAT WE CAN GET OUR CASES PROCESSED ALREADY ANDREA......LETS HAVE MORE FAITH AND VALUE OUR RELATIONSHIPS EVEN MORE.

ADEMAS, POR ALGO PASAN LAS COSAS

I can just wish u the best of luck and be patient. I know how difficult to go through all this but in the end it will be worth it.

    Cheers!

  6. We got our RFE. Manuel forgot to sign one of the copies. :( I checked 100 times, but, obviously, not good enough :bonk: )

So now we are going to deal with the time crunch involved with getting the form to Manuel (remote location - no mail service), back to me, and then to USCIS in time.

    Please pray for us!!

    Thanks,

    Kathy

Wow, sorry to hear that! We wish you the best. And we the "old timers" are here to help....

    I

I have a question for "old timers." Today Roberto called Juarez to ask if ours was still processing or if they sent our a letter yet and they said that only the petitioner can get that information. Is that true? So Only I can call?

Also, did you call and find out they sent it or did you wait for the letter? We want to go as soon as they have sent it because we think it may never arrive in the mail because the mail in Yucatan is notoriously bad.

I am glad people are finally writing on the Juarez forum! It makes me feel so much better to know we are not alone.

    Genny

You are totally not alone. There's a lot of us that went through the same thing and that we want to help out.

In my case we both called and as long as we had our case number they gave information to the both of us. I had to keep calling every week after a month had passed that they received it. One day they told me they had sent the letter and a week after we got the letter. So for us I think the waiting time was around 6 weeks from the day they received it. I know it may seem like a long time and it was but you just have to be patient.

Cheers and the best of luck to everyone.

  7. OK I found out that you can only use Dr Arnold if you already have had your vaccines and medical exam done in your country. Since I came to the US on a work visa I have to do everything from here, so I can't use him because I am not in Texas.

Hi BigBubble. I've had my vaccines here in the US so does that mean I can't use Dr. Arnold? Where did find out about this?

  8. if you have had the shots but your records are unavailable you can have a simple blood test to show the antibodies in the blood. (demonstrating vaccination) it is very inexpensive it's what we had to do since we filed AOS after the medical expired. the blood test was $25 for the co-pay results in 3 business days and then you can have the civil surgeon fill up your form.

    good luck

I've had the shots and I have been calling a couple of Civil Surgeons in the Bay Area and they all seem to be charging at least a 100. I'll give Dr. Arnold a call today to see how that goes. Thanks for your replies.

  9. No you do not need police certificates for K1 Visa or any Visa in Mexico.

Actually you DO need the police certificates for K1 visas for every place you have lived since you were 16 years old. Sometimes they don't ask for it but they could easily ask for it because it's in their list of required paperwork. Watch out with that.

When I went they didn't ask for it but I had them all the same. One from Mexico and one from Canada because I lived there for almost 2 years.

Here is the link to their site regarding that topic.

    K1 documents (USCIS)

  10. Hi everyone,

Man, this vaccines topic is hard. After reading lots of posts I've got many questions answered but still one remains. Which vaccines do I need? I am 27 years old and I had my physical exam less than a year ago. I didn't have any vaccines at the exam and I don't know my vaccine history. According to this link.

    http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5753-Immunization.pdf

if I understand correctly I only need 3 vaccines?

    - Tetanus, diptheria, pertussis. (td, tdap)

    - Varicella

    - Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)

Am I right or do I need more? also, anyone knows of a clinic in San Jose or near here where I can get these vaccines for cheap? and if anyone has been to the civil surgeons in the San Jose area, which do you recommend? Which one doesn't charge a lot for just filling out the I693 form?

    Thanks

  11. [Do I have to go to the USCIS affiliated doctors for the vaccines? Yes, a listed surgeon you can find them at USCIS website.

can I go to my insurance doctor for the vaccines? No.

    COMPLETELY WRONG!!!! :bonk:

You only have to go to a USCIS-approved doctor once your vaccines are completed and you are ready for them to fill out the I-693 form that you must include with your AOS paperwork.

Of course, you CAN go to a USCIS doctor for the vaccines, but they will charge you more for them.

You can use insurance to get the vaccines. Just don't say it's for immigration. Many doctors hear the word "immigration" and it's closely followed "cha ching" $$$$$. They will claim that insurance doesn't cover vaccinations for immigration. How would the insurance company know that the vaccines were for immigration???? CROOKED LYING DOCTORS... are there any other kinds?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll look into my insurance if they cover the vaccines, if not I will go to a health clinic. Then I'll look for a designated civil surgeon to fill out the form.

Anyone knows of a clinic where I can get the vaccines in San Jose, CA or near here?

  12. HI everyone.

I'm about to file for my AOS, EAD and AP. I had my physical exam for the K1 around 3 months ago. I didn't get the vaccines then because they told me I didn't need them to get in the US and get married. We are married now and I am on her medical insurance. My question would be.

Do I have to go to the USCIS affiliated doctors for the vaccines? or can I go to my insurance doctor for the vaccines? How does the vaccine thing work? Also, I only have the vaccine page from my medical exam and it's empty because I didn't get any vaccines. Do the doctors fill that out or they give me a new one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  13. Hi everyone.

I have a doubt. For all my K1 documentation we used the address where my fiance used to live. Now that we are together and married we moved to a different place. What office should I notify about this change of address? the USCIS where we previously filed for the K1?

    Thanks and awaiting your replies.

    Cheers!

    YES

Thanks. I assumed so. Just to follow up on this. I found the I-865 from USCIS to notify them for the change of address. IS there an online way to notify them or is that the only way?

Cheers and thanks for the quick reply.

  14. Hi everyone.

It's been 2 weeks since I entered the US on my K1 visa. I got married this last weekend. and I want to apply for the Social Security Number.

I looked at the application and I have one doubt about it. Where it says "citizenship". I'm guessing I would be "legal alien allowed to work".

Please let me know if this is correct.

I'm taking my passport with my K1, my I-94 attached to it and my Birth Certificate (original in Spanish and a translated copy). Is this enough or do I need something else?

    Cheers

when i went to take my SSN i took

    Form SS-5

    Marriage certificate

my state id(if u were issued one)

    Passport with I-94

    Birth certificate with translation

And i think that was it...and they accepted..i didnt even need to show all the docs from above...

Thanks everyone for your quick replies. I'll go tomorrow and see how it goes.

    Cheers!

Do you have "employment authorization" if not NO! If you been in the US for 2 weeks then I'm sure you dont.

You need a EAD to be legal to work http://www.***removed***/greencard/sample-e...n-card-ead.html

THe reason why I asked this is because I'm sure I saw somewhere on the forums that you can. Also I found this two links. the second talks about K1 in section C.

    ssn

    ssn2

I just wanted to double check about all this.

  19. thanks YuAndDan

Anyone from Mexico that have gone through this can answer the translation question please. Just to be sure?

    Hello,

I haven't yet gone through the process, but from what I've been reading, documents should be translated. Anyway, better to have it just in case, right?

If they are in Spanish and you are going to the Consulate in Juarez you DON'T need to translate them.

    CHeers!
