  1. I'm still patiently waiting :) Its been 3 weeks since they received my rfe and resume to processing. 60 days - 21 days = 39 days more to go? or should I expect letter from USCIS after a month? :)

I am sure they are working on your case. We don't "beleive" in touches anymore, so to speak  because they aren't a sure way to keep tabs on your case. The "touches" system is separate from the bar-code scanning they do on your immigration documents. The touches are purely for the purposes of letting the applicants know their case is being worked on, but if you don't get touches it only means that they are working on your case, they just aren't letting you know that through the online system (because they are lazy or some there half-witted reason). Look at our timeline, it took us a while before we knew what was happening, and in reality, they had processed our RFE the day they received it, it just took us a heck of a longer time to figure that out. So hang in there, I am sure they are working on your case!

  2. Two successful interview! Well done.

Sorry my little Sunshine is under the weather. Take lots of Vitamin C and stay away from cats.

    LOL, just kidding. ^_^

I got out of the hospital on Friday and have been taking it easy. I hurt, darn it! Guess I forgot surgery makes you very, very sore. But it'll get better. Meanwhile my wonderful husband is taking very good care of me.

Glad to hear you are out of hospital. Get well soon! :luv:

  3. Since we received our interview date for AOS, I am concerned about whether the following is enough for "supporting evidence of relationship":

-Joint bank accounts: savings and checking

    -Joint bank safety deposit box

-Joint tax return for the year 2009

-Congrats cards from guests at our reception

-Pictures of the civil marriage ceremony

    -Pictures of our wedding reception

-Pictures from our trips to Pakistan and London before the marriage

-Pictures with family/friends in the USA

-Notarized affidavit of living arrangements (because we live with my parents)

    -Joint cell phone account

    -Joint credit cards

We do not have any utilities on our names since they are on my parents' names. Also, my husband has still not been signed on to the car insurance, this is pending his driver's license examination (the date TBD). And we do not have health insurance at the moment, I am waiting on starting in my new job position and then he will be signed on. I don't know if there will be enough time for me to present the health insurance documents with both our names at the interview since my first day at work is March 22 and the interview is March 30.

So should there be something else we should add to the above list? My husband has given me gifts of expensive jewelry, but I can't think of an official documented way to use this point as evidence. Also, we both buy the groceries for my parents while we are living with them, but again, I can't think of an official documented way to use this point as evidence either.

Any suggestions for us to add stuff to the list would be great! Please let me know everyone! :)

ETA: We do have library cards, the same address on his state i.d. and my driver's license, shopping cards such as JewelOsco, Dominicks, etc. And I have my husband as the emergency contact for my university's emergency contact policy. Both of us has been to the doctor for myself, and I listed my husband's name for the HIPAA release of info forms. I don't know if this stuff will help, also let me know about these please!

  4. Everyone,

Since we are waiting for AOS interview dates to be assigned or waiting for the interview, if already assigned, I thought it would be a good idea to get a list of possible evidence of relationship going so that we all have ideas of what to take, feel free to add your ideas to the following list I have started:

    Ideas for AOS Interview Evidence:

    -Joint tax returns

-Pictures from weddings, receptions, civil marriages, trips together/with relatives/family members

-Proof of living arrangements: lease agreements OR notarized statements from people living with you (parents/ relatives)

-Joint bank accounts: saving, checking, etc.

-Joint bank locker, safety deposit box, etc.

    -Joint cell phone accounts

    -Joint credit cards

-Joint Health, Life, Dental, Vision, Car, and Rental Insurance policies

  5. Did my Driving test today...

    PASSED! BUT!

There was an issue with giving me my driving license card. Apparently USCIS has my maiden name in their database....even though they issued my Greencard in my MARRIED name. That is why my learners permit card was cancelled, because the DMV couldn't match all of my information up.

GRRR. So I have to go and make an infopass appointment to get that changed, then they can issue my license because everything will match. It's a wonder they gave me an SSN when on USCIS' database they have me in my maiden name.

    Infopass appointment here I come.

Congrats on passing the driving test! Hopefully your InfoPass appointment will be fruitful and painless!

  6. Congrats to our lovely Magpie for Knight's success with the Air National Guard. I know there are some tough spots to deal with, but I am sure you both will work something out beautifully, the ANG will provide a window of opportunities and a host of benefits at the least.

Good news from our side: I got the job at the place I dreamed of... at a well-known hospital in the region!  , even though it is not in my field, at least I will have the opportunities to move higher up the ladder internally.

In other great news...we got a response from the wonderful Cynthia at Senator ####### Durbin's office. She has always been on top of things for us and has never failed to be a source of comfort and positive information every time we needed her. We got the answer from her inquiry to USCIS, my husband's case has resumed processing ever since Feb 05, 2010, and he was eligible for an interview on Feb 17, 2010 (nothing like this shows up in the online case status) and that his I-765 is pending, but everything has resumed processing. Also, today we got this response IN ADDITION to a letter from USCIS...we got our interview date! Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 9 AM. Perfect timing, we have enough time to prepare everything carefully.

Gemmie: It is great that you got an offer for the interview, at least you know that your skills are valued in the job marketplace, so it won't be long until you find the one you are looking for, hope everything works out soon!

    Nich: How are you feeling?

  7. Nich, so sorry that you have to go back in the hospital next week for surgery :( But I am sure you will bounce right back with that strong spirit of yours

About my case, unfortunately the RFE still as not been acknowledged by USCIS, no touches, no email/text updates, no change of status online. So I have gotten the congressman and both senators involved again. This process is depressing and completely maddening. But at least we are together, and it makes it so much more bearable.

  8. Everyone that submitted responses to their RFEs, were you supposed to send a copy to Chicago Lockbox in addition to sending it back to the PO BOX address in Lee's Summit, MO as written on the RFE instructions? Or did you only submit the reply back to Lee's Summit, MO?

We have gotten our congressman and senators involved. Hopefully we hear something before the end of this week!

Good luck to everyone and congrats to those with big updates!

  9. I did not hire an actual lawyer, however I did pay Cynthia at immigrationdocs.com to help me, something I def wish I never would have done. Once she had her money and did the little that she was required to do, and now I never hearfrom her, when I try to call her it takes several days for her to answer me back. She never told me anything about getting a I-693 medical exam, basically I warn any body that would even think of hiring somebody. IF, you are going to hire somebody, first of all, do your research, are ALL of their customers happy with them? How many cases have they filed that are similar to yours? My cousin recently married his love from saskatchwan and with the help of me having this one experience and the help of VISA JOURNEY, he plans to file it without hiring anyone. I now believe lawyers and anyone who says they will help you are a waste of money and time. It does not cost them $2000 to fill out your paperwork which they probably spend 2 to 5 hours on. Sorry if this is a long vent, just my experience with paying anyone for this.

Oh dear, we too hired Cynthia from immigrationdocs.com for the K-1 part of the process. I told her I did not need her anymore after we got an RFE for the I-129F at that time. Waste of money, they ripped us off as well. I totally agree with you, do not hire anyone for AOS or K-1 or any of these immigration procedures if your case is straightforward. And if it isn't, I don't know about other companies, but DO NOT hire immigrationdocs.com.

We got our Interview Appointment Letter!!! We will be going March 24, 2010 at 10:30am!!! :) No sign of the EAD yet, but it is sooo glad to see something in the mail!!!! I think it's interesting that there have been no touches on our files since 1/25 and 2/03 but now we get the letter.. here's some info:

    Appointment Letter Dated: 2/16/2010

    Letter Postmarked: 2/17/2010

    Letter Received 2/20/2010

Hey Congrats on getting the interview letter!

I am sure your EAD is probably on the way too!

  10. Hello lovely ladies,

I posted on here before, when I was worried about conceiving with irregular periods. Well, it has not been a year yet, but it has been about 4 months since we have been TTC, and nothing yet! I still missed my period though for the last cycle, I had it the one before it, but tests are all negative. I have had a fertility check up done, the blood work came back fine. The only issue I had two months back was a possible PID (ultrasound diagnosis), so I was given antibiotics for 7 days for that, and it cleared up. I know it may be too early to get worried, but any suggestions/advice would help!

  11. MJ: yes, you are definitely right  At least we are together, I don't know if I could survive another immigration glitch alone.

Gemmie: I do have an MA actually, but I have little experience. About 1 year total of high school counselor experience. And the scary thing is that all of a sudden I had a reality check and I do not want to practice clinically (not to mention that I would need a PhD for that as well). I am going back to school for an MPH, the good thing is that a lot of my MA credits transferred into my MPH program, and it is at the same place where I completed my BA and MA so I am looking at a year of school at the most...and I am out to get some experience right now, which is why when I appy for MPH related jobs such as hospital non-clinical administrative positions, they throw out my resume when they see I have many degrees but no experience. I have applied to two great hospitals here for a possible human resources position that I may have a good chance at securing...

About either getting a job you love or one that you need, my mind has weighed both options. I actually did work as a receptionist for $10/hour when I needed the money, but I quit after 2 months. If you aren't built for the job, it is hard to work at it 40 hours a week...I got tired of it pretty fast. And my mind kept taunting me...what did I go to get a masters for if I was sitting here answering calls all day long? So I am trying to get something in the middle at least, my field but not necessarily the position I dream of would work just fine. Let's see

  12. Hey Marm what happened? what was the RFE foe?

The RFE was for a copy of his birth certificate, which we included in the initial application we sent but I guess they lost it so they asked for another one. We sent it in again and they received the doc on Feb 03, 2010. Still no change in status online though, it still says "We mailed you a request for evidence..."

Where are you in the process? Did you finally get your NOA1s?

  13. I think the snow has put a damper on a lot of work, Marm. I understand you must be feeling so so cautious after your awful K1 experience, but I'm sure they'll resume processing the RFE response very soon. I thought it took an average of a couple of weeks usually? At least you're together while you wait. :)

I can't BELIEVE they lost your stuff, Selina. I seem to be hearing more and more about this lately. At least they probably won't need another medical done as it's not your fault that the medical is almost a year out.

As for me.. Yesterday was a ####### day at best. I tried to take my permit test for the forth time (had trouble with someone getting me there, the office being closed, etc), My MIL and I waited 90 minutes, and got denied due to my SSN on hold since I changed my name. They told me to come back when I got the new card, so hopefully fifth time lucky next time. Also, there were 2 other immigrant women there in front of me, one who didn't speak a word of English and the DMV woman told her to come back with a translator... and proceeded to yell at the other woman who failed the test, asking why she would think those answers and if she even tried studying. The woman actually cried!

Then I came home to find a rejection letter from Meditech. :( I waited 2-3 months for this application process and even my referral said she was positive I would get in, so I'm gutted. That means we're no longer moving out next month as it depended on me getting that job. I'm feeling craptastic about that. I've applied to some other jobs, and am thinking of going to a career fair in Boston next week, so see if anything comes of that, but needless to say, this has really pissed in my cheerios. :P

Sorry about your horrible day, but as Snowbunnies said, it's a technical glitch, nothing to worry about on your end (which ironically, is the case with most gov. procedures *sigh*). I too have gone through a couple of job interviews and then I am left hanging...are they interested in me or not interested...so I have decided to go back to school. Oh and I am the USC, so we are both trying our best to hold it together as my husband still has not gotten his EAD yet.

  14. Maybe I am freaking out too much, but after the hellish process we had with the K-1, I don't think I have any patience left for any glitches during the AOS/EAD. So tomorrow I am going to fax my congressman and senators for help in figuring out if my husband's RFE response actually has been received by USCIS because we still do not have a status change online. It still says "we sent a request for evidence, blah blah blah" even though my husband's response was delivered on Feb 03, 2010.

  15. I checked my case onlien and it says

On February 16, 2010, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use the processing time information on our website to estimate when this case will be done.

Pls tell me that they will make any further decision or so whatever early. And why would they say they received my response on the 16th when the mail tracking says its on the 11th. I paid more for the mail just to get there early.

thoughts anybody? thank you in advance.

At least they acknowledged your RFE response so that is a good thing, we are still waiting for them to acknowledge ours. Your case processing has been resumed so nothing to worry about.

  16. Thanks Heather and Nich :luv:

I don't know what I would do without you ladies, I have the potential to fall over the edge these days...it is hard enough getting a job being a recent graduate, so I really know how it feels for those waiting for their EADs. I am probably thinking of going back to school for another masters degree (business management) because my psychology degree isn't getting me anywhere. I am really thankful for VisaJourney because I have people like you guys to support me every step of the way :)
